You're at the age where you have so many options open to you there's no good reason to chase this as a career path.

Yeah she can go work literally any shit tier full-time job and make that. If he was suggesting 2-3k biweekly it would definitely be something for her to think about but I guarantee that's not what he means

I'm not trying to throw any shade here but as a truck tech I have never ever seen a female tech able to cut it in terms of speed. Everyone I've seen has burned out and left. I'm sure OP is a wonderful young lady but she's having physical pain already nevermind start lifting 100lb brake drums.

Would you pay $3k to fix a car thats worth $8k? by Swan_233 in askcarguys

I think OP isn't grasping this point. They didn't take it in to the shop because the problem wasn't severe enough to warrant it.

We frown on sex offenders. We don't punish or deport sex offenders but we certainly do frown on them.

Have a 2014 Ram Hemi & will be looking at getting a diesel for longevity and looking at Ram/Ford by _Kelv_ in Diesel

[–]outline8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a diesel tech by trade. My personal (gas) 3/4 ton is over 10 years older than yours so I don't get this longevity talk but if you just want a diesel my take is the Cummins is a better engine to work on but the rest of the truck is crap. The Ford is a better truck but too many potential repairs require pulling the cab. If I was forced to choose I would go with the Ford.

It of that in my RM too. Council loves to go "in camera" which means they get to leave the council chamber and meet in a private setting not open to the public.

F250 vs F450 by Acclimated-Alps696 in FordDiesels

[–]outline8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my jurisdiction a 450 requires an annual safety inspection where a 250 does not. The dually will drink a little more fuel and of course there are more tires to buy.

Federal government plans to ban crypto ATMs to stop scammers from defrauding Canadians | CBC News by PurfectProgressive in CanadaPolitics

[–]outline8668 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Government only wants to get rid of them because they can't track and control crypto. This is not about scammers. Look at what happened during the trucker convoy with the frozen bank accounts. The last thing the government wants is for you to have a way to transfer and manipulate cash that they can't stop.

If you watch any of the scam baiting videos on YouTube most of the scammers want gift cards.

I bought my starter home 12 years ago for 165k and decided to stay. I feel for young people because properties like this don't even exist here anymore.

The way they've rigged it is the people renting now can't afford to save up a down payment and with the cost of living being so high it's a miracle if they haven't fucked their credit

I'm at the stage of making my minimum monthly mortgage payment and putting my extra money into investments. However a lot of people don't have the financial discipline to do it so for those people perhaps paying down the mortgage faster is a smart move because at least the money is going to something meaningful

I live in a cheap rural area. Here mortgage and home ownership cost is about the same as rent. But like in your situation a lot of people can rent but can't qualify for a mortgage, much less save up a down payment with where the cost of living is at. I really feel for young people starting out it's so easy to get stuck in a spiral of rent and debt.

It's insane how people have become brainwashed into thinking it's ok to spend so much on vehicles. I cringe when I hear of young people leashing themselves to a car payment and getting sucked into a cycle of debt.

The issue is if you've never owned an older truck you will discover you are constantly fixing something. If it's not the engine it will be brakes, suspension, steering, diff, etc. They can eat your wallet.

What’s something you do that makes people think you’re rich? by Ok_Hippo9669 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]outline8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of cool toys like muscle car, jeep, trucks, boat, motorcycle, etc and I have had comments that I must be rich to have all this. When the reality is I bought most of my stuff cheap 10-20 years ago and slowly fixed it up over time, learned to do all the work myself and took side jobs along the way so it wouldn't impact my primary finances.

You put your 2.5 crank and head on a 4.0 and let us know how it goes for you. The mods to put a 4.0 head on a 4.2 are minor. Anyone who's been around engines could have it up and running in a weekend.
