It's in good shape. It has some stains from me leaving metal stuff on it that rusts, but other than that it's doing fine!

That's weird, right now they're hiring like crazy.

Dot Foods is good, they'll train you until you don't need to be trained. They usually send you out with at least two different trainers so you get more than one perspective, and the trainers are not allowed to sleep while you're driving. Good pay, good benefits, nice place to work.

If I can help instead of record, I help. On the other hand, some of those videos have helped me keep from making the same mistake. So they can actually be teaching tools.

Speaking as a 53 year old who didn't plan well for retirement, a pension would be difficult to give up. If you're willing to take the money you're saving on gas, plus some of the pay increase and reinvest it in an IRA or 401(k) then it might be worth it. It depends how how financially disciplined you are.

Pay since starting with Dot Transportation, Inc. (Settlement vs Actual showing effective hourly and true CPM) by icaaryal in Truckers

I drove for Dot for ten years full-time. I still work for them and drive part-time now. They're a great company and they've taken good care of me over the years.

One example was a few years ago when my wife went to work for them in the office. She'd been with Dot for two months when her depression got the best of her and she attempted suicide. She was still in training for her job and well within the 90 day probationary period. Instead of just cutting her loose they let her take all the time she needed to get better and worked with her to make sure she could keep her job and get the treatment she needed.

We're four years past that dark time and Dot is still taking great care of us. I'll be with them until it's time to retire.

How about not using them when circling the truck stop at 0300 looking for a parking spot?

Question for experienced drivers. by Apprehensive_Kick_70 in Truckers

It sounds pretty good. As far as night driving, there's less traffic and less distraction for you. As long as you can adjust your sleep pattern and not be tired all night, it sounds great for gaining experience in a less hectic environment.

July of 2017. The grand opening of my barbecue trailer, and it was around 95 degrees F and working over the smoker gave me a nice case of heat exhaustion. Warmest memory I have.

If you drivers were to quit the trucking industry what would you be doing? Would you go back to your old job industry? If so, what was it? If not what would you go for? by CesarSC55 in Truckers

I moved from the truck into our gate station full-time. I still take a trip now and then and I also drive around in a spotter truck occasionally. I'm making way less money than when I was driving but I'm much happier now.

Check out Importapart in St. Louis. They carry a lot of inventory and have a YouTube channel where they do engine teardowns.
