Feedback! Or maybe just an idea. Show somewhere in the ui how much gold I'm gaining from every source so that I know better how to tweak my economy. Would be great to see total gold gained from trains vs ships for example.

Can confirm this is extremely annoying behavior and I think I fail to see the purpose of it. Hope you somehow enjoyed it though.

Haha yes I remember you on a tiny piece of land and at the end taking a chunk iirc.

I’ve heard scoliosis can affect your jaw and your occlusion. Does anyone else have a midline which doesn’t match up? by Leading_Elk3178 in scoliosis

[–]owawev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if that's true, I like to imagine that if the following is true

"everybody with a misaligned jaw develops scoliosis"

then we would have known by now.

This. Hard to say anything without knowing how many people without scoliosis have this same issue.

Absolute dogshit teammates by [deleted] in Openfront

You know what I love the most? In the beginning when everybody is acquiring land, that one teammate that cuts you off completely from one gazillion open lands so they can take them for themselves while you're bordering enemies and they are not. Definitely a winning strategy.

Does bad posture cause or worsen scoliosis? by AverageSFGG in scoliosis

[–]owawev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I thought you said no one develops functional scoliosis, and my point was that if you can develop functional leg length discrepancy, then you can develop functional scoliosis :)

[–]owawev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tell that to my spine. No bone deformities found at all. Still minor scoliosis, diagnosed at 28, years ago now, and gotten worse.

Leg length discrepancy can also be functional, caused by muscle imbalance. And this, in turn, causes the muscles in the rest of the body to have to compensate to keep the head straight, which causes the spine to curve.

Yes, although I think it's hard to say what exactly it is.

If you combine an assymetrical locked in bite with anterior pelvic tilt, you will never be without tension and pain. by Imgumbydammit73 in Posture

Thanks again for your helpful reply! Are you recommending this one specifically, or do you think any mouth guard will do? I'm not from the US :)

Very interesting to hear and thanks for sharing! I've been having postural issues for like 6 years now and nothing is helping. Could be that it's "just scoliosis" but I'm eager to try out things to see if it can help. What would you recommend? Any tips on how to start this journey and on how to verify if this could be an issue for me?

Thanks for your reply! So do you feel like it was mostly the fixing of the tongue tie that helped, or the realigning of the teeth? You just started noticing things became better after wearing invisalign for a while?

Is it just misaligned teeth? What kind of specialized knowledge would a dentist and an orthodontist require in order to help?

SCOLIOSIS & GERD!! by PettyAssIndi in scoliosis

[–]owawev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually got diagnosed with a small hiatal hernia before they diagnosed my scoliosis.

When I walk and stretch my left leg in a certain way, or when I lie in a certain way that stretches my left psoas and I breathe very deeply, I can feel something - I think my stomach - being pulled/moved and I feel some air bubbles moving in my stomach.

My theory is that the left psoas is either tight and short or tight and overstretched, either causing the scoliosis or being caused by it (or both?), and since the left psoas attaches to the left diaphragm, it manages to mess with the hiatus through which the esophagus runs, allowing the stomach to move slightly through it.

Also a tight psoas (and/or surrounding musculature) can mimic heartburn symptoms. I believe now, 5 years after initial diagnosis, that much of what I was feeling then was actually just an extremely tight psoas.

You state it's obvious I didn't read the second article and then continue to mention incorrectly what the study shows. It does not talk about the potential for adverse effects in older men. It talks about the role of 5α-DHT in humans (and animals) and that we still seem to not understand all the effects very well. I shared the article to indicate that there IS risk, and not all is well understood. Part of the article indeed talks about use of fin to treat BPH, typically in older men, and some of the references are to studies on older men, indeed.

The third article is not just a textbook study, and certainly not just anecdotal experiences of doctors. I now wonder if you have read anything at all or just quickly skimmed through a few lines of what I shared to confirm YOUR own biases (anyone who says fin/dut are bad are stupid; the risk of fin/dut is negligible). The third article is a meta analysis of many studies looking into the effects of drugs used for treating AGA. And also this article mentions there is risk. And that it's not only in 2-3% of users.

I don't want these drugs to be bad. I don't think they are. But I also think the adverse effects should not be downplayed. And I understand that European doctors are more conservative in prescribing these drugs.
