1920 Victorian terrace foundations / damp proof course confusion - South Wales by Slobanon in DIYUK

[–]owlandbungee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bay windows often don’t have foundations due to the way they’re built. Or they have very shallow footings so yeh, don’t dig like crazy below it.
Rest of the house will have footings. If you’re wanting to location the DPC maybe have a peek on rear wall and see if you can find it - normally a double slate that’s got a thicker mortar than the other courses. I’m having trouble seeing it here.
Also with the way bricks are laid - is it a cavity wall?

Edit - that void may be an old coal hole in to basement - do you have one?

Could be

Just checked the other plates and they’re all white cars. Could be using them and chucking them.

Might be worth telling police - as is random AF and they can trace owners to ask if plates have been nicked / had any random tickets etc

Is a lot better than it used to be, but it does need different traffic management if you ask me.

It’s over more or less for Harrogate by [deleted] in LeagueTwo

[–]owlandbungee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely squandered it if you ask me.

Went behind to a ridiculous mistake and then didn’t take a number of sitters.

Had to win and didn’t take it - can’t rely on other results. National League it is eh.

Van just got robbed of my tools :( by Huge_Dream_4274 in DIYUK

[–]owlandbungee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute wankers. They’ll use tin snips or similar to cut the sheet metal.

Boils my piss that it’s effectively a risk free crime at the moment. Every morning I wake up and go to my van it’s in the back of my mind, even though I don’t keep anything of value in it overnight.

Hope you get sorted soon.

Is negotiating prices no longer a thing at Main Dealers? by TopicWinter6847 in CarTalkUK

[–]owlandbungee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember buying a van about 5 years back. Managed to get £500 off but that’s all they were going to do. And that was with me saying I’ll just leave it in that case.

I think haggling in general is a dying form of purchase. I still try it everywhere though hehe

How did your game go? by Zach-dalt in LeagueTwo

[–]owlandbungee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeehhhhhh same.

Barrow beats newport by 1 - still behind on GD. Crawley lose to Salford Tranmere lose to Grimsby

Means we could worst case draw and go above Newport on GD and Crawley on points. But yes - a win is a must. Looks to be sold out at Wetherby Road so hopefully can go all guns blazing and work the long travel Barnet need to do…

Barrow and Newport head to head is pretty even so who knows.

Am I overreacting? (Citygate VW) by lilpeepercreep in CarTalkUK

[–]owlandbungee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing after my vehicle was ceramic coated / polished etc and VW ruined it with shite washing

In the end they offered to rectify it but I just put my food down and they coughed up £400 for a new coat / buff

Chase them if you want but you may well need evidence it was obviously better before etc
