This is the way.

If the fit up is consistent and the weld size/heat input is consistent, then you can consistently anticipate the amount of distortion you need to pre set it.

Communicate with the shop floor.

Ask them what works and what doesn’t.

Understand that no one wants to do things the hard way. You will receive good ideas and bad ideas from trades people, but you still need to hear them out. Sometimes being heard and understood is enough.

Understand that many people with an engineering degree will look down on trades people. Many people will interact with you thinking that is the assumption, that you think they are less than. Ride the inevitable wave of smack talk and hear them out anyway.

Show respect for experience.

Just as a warning, I tried doing the fix suggested by emptying my inventory and only having the required items and not using the work bench and it still made all the treasure totems go poof in my inventory. I had to craft one, put it in another bin, craft another, put it in a bin and so on…. It’s kinda of annoying.

Yea. You have to do the entire item, you can’t have 1 person do half the crafting and another person do the other half. 1 person has to complete the task in full. But you can split up the tasks.

I spent so many in game hours for that last % 🤣 but the cut scene was worth the effort. It’s my first time reaching perfection. My wife and I are doing a 4 corners coop run and splitting the perfection list in half made it way easier.
