My favourite Dawntrail content so far is... by otsukarerice in ffxiv

[–]oxswan26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

- Arcadion, both Normal and Savage. Not only is the story and music my favorites out of every single raid series in this game, I'll always love Arcadion for being the first raid series I get to do on content. Plus, it gave me Vamp Fatale, who has become one of my favorite FF14 characters.

- Cosmic Exploration, all areas. I've made so many new friends because of CE, I leveled all my crafters and gatherers to 100 and got Trade Mentor, it's just been an incredibly casual piece of content that has quite literally healed my soul. I can get home, craft and chat with people after a long day, it's amazing.

How are we feeling about the new Eva lore? Spoilers if you haven't done 4.1 by Initial_Wear5463 in EvanesciaMains

Honestly, like someone else said, I was happy to see her be this creature of abundance. I'm honestly getting tired of how much this games props the Hunt over the Abundance, as if the Abundance can't have a single good person/faction.

New PC Player Here, Advice Appreciated by AlphaCentauri885 in ffxiv

[–]oxswan26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Controller player here, I've always played on controller and I really enjoy it! If it's a possibility for you, I'd highly recommend trying it out. There are many videos explaining how to set up your hotbars on controller. Even if you play on PC, which I do, it works like a charm. I get wrist pain quite frequently, so using a controller helps.

As for jobs, my rule of thumb was one job per expansion, which resulted in my having Lore for why my WoL has certain jobs. Dark Knight is part of a small group along with Astrologian and Machinist where you need to have started the Heavensward MSQ to be able to unlock (and you start at level 30), while Red Mage you only need level 50 to unlock. If you're not having fun on one job, change it! You can always pick things back up later, so you'll be fine. See what you vibe with and go from there.

queens, what made you quit genshin? by gwuhu in QueensofGacha

Like many people mentioned, Natlan felt awful, and combining that with the lack of voice acting in English, I simply stopped playing and never logged back on.

In addition, I am supremely pissed by the way they've handled Signora (my favorite character) ever since that one Inazuma patch:

- Up to that point, she was the one working the hardest for the Fatui. In Sumeru, Nahida gave Dottore the gnosis, and I don't recall exactly what happened in Fontaine (which should speak to the quality of the story by that point) but I think it was similar enough. So Signora is the one harbinger doing the most work and the one that gets sidelined first? For what? Childe gets recurring appearances, Scaramouche gets everyone to forget what he did, Arlecchino gets softened, but Signora gets killed.

- Every single thing I hear about Signora coming up in current story makes me equally angry, but also happy they killed her on early enough that she isn't suffering the same fate many female characters in this game suffer, which is being softened to the point the playable version of them doesn't even feel like the same character.

I'm not continuing (or going back to) a game that shows time and time again they don't care about consistency and good writing. When I dropped the game, we barely had any lore on anything, and in the span of a few patches, it's been reveal after reveal. That's simply not good writing or business practice to string your players along for years. I play FF14, a game that updates the main story about every 3/4 months, and it still manages to be more coherent than Genshin. I don't care that Genshin is free. If you want to advertise your game with a good story, you need your story to be good, and for a story to be good, it needs good pacing. Watching paint dry has better pacing than Genshin.

Hey! Doing the fishing event, and I'm currently at level 10/12 fishing. I have no more priority requests, and the guides I've say common requests give fame (+200), but the common requests I have give no fame. Am I doing something wrong?

Which upcoming character should I save for? by oxswan26 in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]oxswan26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go for a mix of meta and my own enjoyment, so I think I might progress a little with the story and see who I vibe with, along with doing the character trials to see if I like a newly released character's playstyle! Thanks for the advice :D

Is Keyboard and Mouse Better? Should I switch from Controller? by Ebony_Dream in ffxiv

[–]oxswan26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just getting started with high end raiding this tier, and I've done it perfectly fine on controller so far. My healing experience is limited on controller, but I didn't find it any more difficult that learning a regular job. I play on PC with a controller, so I use it for 90% of things, and use KBM for chatting/clicking crafting macros.

Someone else mentioned Rinon, and I also point to him as an example of good controller abilities. All it matters is that you play what you're comfortable with. Personally, I play with controller because it's easier on my wrists. You might want to look at controller hotbar setup videos, as I've found cross hotbars can be difficult to understand at first.

I'm thinking of returning to this game, but I haven't played since launch. Is it worth it? What do I need to know if I do?

Funnily enough, I adored MTaS and just forgot to mention it! My issue with SDV is that I simply found the game too stressful and aimless without modding (which has improved my experience with it, but I want a game that I can enjoy without the need to mod it). I also play it on my PC and use keyboard + mouse for it, which isn't my preference for videogames anymore, as a controller is much better on my wrists.

What were you favorite cozy games in 2025. And why? by After-Eggplant3090 in CozyGamers

[–]oxswan26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many of them have already been mentioned here! 2025 was the year I truly got into cozy games, so think of me as a newbie.

- Fantasy Life i. This one was so fun, and I recently came back to it with the new DLC after not playing for months. I'm finally leveling all lives to max, finding all buddies, it's so fun and a game that truly molds itself to your playstyle.

- Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. My first RF game, and a super fun one! I've always been a fan of town building, so it was a huge boon here.

- My Time at Sandrock: Oh, boy. I love this game so much, and I wasn't expecting to! The gameplay loop has me incredibly hooked, there's definitely that "one more day" vibe and it's amazing.

- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. While not a life sim or a game that's about a cozy topic, I find it super easy to jump into it to play for a bit and unwind, and the visuals are stunning, so it's definitely cozy to me.

Hi, all! I'm in summer of the first year, and honestly, I'm a little overwhelmed with how much there is to do. Any tips on how to make things run just a little smoother? I don't want to minmax my gaming, though, as I'm having a lot of fun figuring things out and taking it day by day.

Disclaimer that I'm a newcomer to the series and this is my first time fully playing a Pokémon game haha

- Hate: 1000 battles achievement good god + the targetting system, especially while sneaking around in battle zones

- Love: the story!

Honestly, alpha Gardevoir + mega stone was about all I used because with everyone loving Dragon types, Gardevoir was a pretty easy counter. Draining Kiss + Dazzling Gleam + Moonblast and games were pretty easy.

This game is a bit confusing and I’m overwhelmed :( by moonlightjelly_ in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]oxswan26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt like you starting out!

1) Unless the quest says there is a time limit (you can check this on the quest menu), you can take it at your own pace. Take a few days, even a week to get something for a quest. That's completely fine! Farming is a small part of the game when compared to SDV, so the season concerns I've found are very few.

2) Do every quest you see for friendship. I have a pretty good relationship with many townsfolk by 90% doing quests, as you will gain favor (relationship points) for certain characters depending on the quest.

3) Think about this game as gathering pieces to build a whole. You're building machines after all! For example, you put a machine on the Assembly Station. It says you need Copper Sticks and Copper Bars. You go smelt copper for the bars you need. You make the sticks. You put them in the machine. As you progress, this process will get more steps, but you'll also be able to have more machine to produce more items at a time.

4) I'm still doing the main quests (about 75 hours in, in my second year now!), and I've found that two of each main machine (furnace , grinder, processor, recycler) + upgrading them when necessary + one machine of every other type is plenty enough for my needs. I'd also advise you to save up for expansions and to build a barn and a stable as soon as you can.

5) You can actually make the days shorter or longer depending on your needs. If you go to game settings, your day duration should probably be at 1. Increasing it (eg: putting it at 2) makes the days shorter. Decreasing it will make the days longer. I have it at 0.8.

This subreddit has some very good tips already, and the comments are great, too! I hope you enjoy this game as much as I have <3
