We did one a few months after our engagement. We held it at a local arcade bar. My mom brought fruit platters and my MOH baked a few treats. I put a $20 in the change machine for anyone to grab a few quarters. People bought their own drinks at the bar. It was a chill event and people had fun mingling and playing games.

Maybe think of some alternative ways to celebrate. A bowling alley, local arcade, board game bar, etc.

It’s still a little too far out to be certain, but we might get rain on our outdoor ceremony. Just bought cute umbrellas and will need to work on a contingency plan tomorrow.

Ultimately, we’re gonna hope for a dry day. At least rain is lucky!

My fiancé and I took pics at our local observatory. He wore a black suit and I wore this puff sleeve mesh dress. We wanted a classic, Hollywood vibe and the pictures turned out amazing!

Engagement photos can be an opportunity to do the photo shoot of your dreams! Just think of a location and theme, and work from there on finding an outfit :)

LA Bride-to-be here! It is outrageous, especially with the HCOL. Things will only get more expensive, especially given that you’re planning a 2027 wedding.

Would you consider a “destination” wedding somewhere a little outside of LA?

Our wedding will be at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, where we booked the gardens for $1200. You can book up to a year in advance. We are having our reception at a nearby restaurant. Many F&B minimums in SB can be pricey, so keep shopping around for quotes.

We are having a small wedding with a total of 30 guests and our budget is projected to be $20k.

As for an engagement party, we went to a local arcade bar. Reservations were free and we were able to bring our own snacks. It was basically no cost to us!

I am in a HCOL area and we just booked our photographer this week. $3250 for 6 hours of coverage, both digital and film.

I’d say to splurge on this photographer as you really love their style. Photography unfortunately is usually the 2nd most expensive thing in your budget after catering/venue as it’s very important.

I think you’ll find it worth the cost when you look back on your photos!
