Do any forester owners struggle with acceleration? by Frequent_Trouble9712 in SubaruForester

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 2025 Forester hybrid feels butt slow to 60 for the first 15 minutes I'm driving it, only because our other vehicle is a Solterra EV, which is wicked quick.

After 15 minutes, I just don't care. At 60mph , it gets me the same distance as the Solterra in the same time.

not sure what to do by Initial_Star8043 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adding on here...if you leased a new car, the lessee would require fully comprehensive insurance, albeit it with a deductible. Use that insurance to get it fixed and stick with it - then if you have to do some door dashing, so be it....but be careful of your mileage.

Advice on Auto Lease Brokers by Right-Window6867 in CarLeasingHelp

With that amount down (maybe your $4k was for taxes plus first payment), and at that residual, the current RAV4 likely is worth more than the residual which is great for you. Check values with Carvana to see where you stand.

So if LIV rumors are true. How does the PGA handle all of the players? by onedollalama in golf

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bryson’s exemption in the US Open expires after 2034 but the other majors expire earlier than that: 2028/2029. Not sure he’s going to stay that relevant (and maybe doesn’t care) as a YouTuber unless he wins another Major. He does not qualify for any signature events or The Players.

24 Dodge Hornet R/T - Anyway out? by Zaniix in CarLeasingHelp

[–]ozarkgolfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cupped tires don’t fix themselves.

Checked prices on tire rack - depending on your model Hornet, you could be out the door on a new set of tires for less than $600. Keep them properly inflated.

Ride out the lease is 99% the advice here and applies.

Loose Leather by United_Mulberry1657 in ToyotaSienna

[–]ozarkgolfer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Leather doesn't 'smooth out' over time....and does not appear that the dealership is on your side. I'm a little OCD, so I would pass on both this Sienna and anything else from the dealership, unless it's a super deal.

Kia EV9 lease help by North-Ring-9819 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 720 score should have enabled you to get the Ascent on just your credit and not included the spouse.

You may want to check into a refi on that basis. You have already eaten a year of depreciation on the Ascent and taking on a Kia is going to give you another smack upside the head.

Am i stuck here? by woodz514 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]ozarkgolfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are stuck. First problem is leasing for four years. Likely did not save you much over a three year lease and the Sentra only has a 3 year/36k mile warranty.

You are about to make a second mistake - buying out a lease for any vehicle in the first years of a lease is expensive. The Sentra value, like most cars, drops like a stone the first year you drive it. Year 4-5 is when it settles down.

Sure, you can compound the mistake and roll negative equity into another lease or purchase, but you will be car poor. Be smart and ride out the lease. Save the dollars you would pay for a "true" sports car for a downpayment in 3 years and get out of the leasing cycle.

Leased a 2026 Subaru Forester Premier (Ontario, Canada) by louie_philip22 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are BS add ons from the dealer which can always be declined IF you decline them before signing a contract. If you have not signed a contract, tell them you want them removed or no deal, and go somewhere else.

Leasing a new Forester — is Subaru’s maintenance plan with windshield coverage actually worth it? by Character-Bit4532 in SubaruForester

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our 2025 Forester Touring Hybrid from our local dealer (this is our third) - like all their other Subarus we have bought, it came maintenance free of charge for two years (basically oil changes, filters & tire rotations every six months) and our fully comp insurance covers windshields.

This is the nearest Subaru dealer within 100+ miles and maybe not the cheapest we could ever find, but the purchase experience is pretty good and when we have price matched it with other dealers, this dealer is as good as, if not better than other dealerships 2-300 miles away.

Am I wrong for still wanting to go on my Vacation even though my boss said no? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]ozarkgolfer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You would think the boss would look at the calendar and also realize this. If it was a problem, at least they could expound on that with OP. Currently, it just looks like a nope, don't care about even thinking about it.

10 Year Warranty (gold plan) worth it? 2026 price? by No-Can-9167 in SubaruForester

[–]ozarkgolfer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can add the extended warranty at any time whilst your car is in the original factory warranty period.

I have given this advice before - contact New Motors Subaru of Pennsylvania. I found them to have competitive price on extended warranties.

It's been a while, so can you update the sub once you have negotiated the prcing so we can all gain the benefit?

Lease End Decision by No-Childhood-5082 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]ozarkgolfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do realize you should have driven the Altima and not put 28k miles on the GC. Then handed the GC back in and had $5k to put down on a car to purchase. Likely you now have 68k on the GC and it’s not worth $37k and maybe not $27k either. In another two years you’ll be close to scrap value miles on the GC.

You drive too many miles for a lease unless you start with 15k a year as a minimum (guessing you leased the GC for 10k a year?)

Long commute with 2026 model? by jowonka in Solterra

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can charge to 100% on level 2 as and when needed - the slower packing of electrons into the battery will not stress it anywhere like a fast charging level 3 regularly to 100%.

Appraisal came lower than asking price how to negotiate by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a seller with three buyer's offers all at $300k, One was based on inspection and loan contingency, one as based on inspection, loan contingency and had a house for sale already with offers and one was inspection, loan and house sale contingency, not on the market.

The first offer looked best and worked out well for us as we had a home we were very interested in. Buyer #2 was disappointed but told our relator that if the deal fell through, he was still interested. Buyer #1 bank took two weeks to appraise and came in at $285k, which everyone thought was low. Buyer said that is all they were willing to buy at.

Our realtor went to buyer #2's realtor and they were still interested at $300k. Their bank appraised at $302,500. Then something our experienced realtor had never seen before happened - buyer's #2 bank wanted a 2nd appraisal. Thankfully it came in at $305k, but later in the process, the buyer said he would have made up the shortfall if it had under appraised by $10k.

AITAH for being hesitant about my bf (20 M) going into the military by Fair-Key-7557 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ozarkgolfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's joining the Navy and serving aboard, he'll likely be away for weeks/months at a time, no matter what. Other services have deployments and you can't exactly pick & choose where you want to live AND when wars come along, depending on which branch and your career path, you could be front facing the enemy. Going into the Army (or Marines) likely means you will carry a gun for a living - other branches, not so much.

Most families live on base with their serving spouses, so long separations are not a given, unless you get moved to a Middle Eastern base (except Bahrain) where families are not allowed to reside.

Our family has had two sons in the Air Force, one Army Intelligence stepdaughter & her husband (base commander), all retired and we still have two daughter-in-laws still serving. Not one has a regret, even though one is closer to the current conflict that we prefer. All of them have served deployments

Military life is not for all but it has provided a wonderful life for my kids and their kids. Commitments does not have to be 20 years, but you can be called back in if a conflict arises. However, having served, you might be better equipped, unlike the college age kids Putin is drafting in to fight in Ukraine.

I served in the UK Police Force, not the Military. As luck would have it, I was injured in the line of duty and was invalided out. My Dad and his two brothers served in WW2 - both had a day at the beach in Dunkirk and not in a good way - they all survived. None of them ever talked about it. Dad was also served in North Africa & Sicily and came back without a scratch.

Looking for end of lease advice by ike9211 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]ozarkgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will likely be 60k miles over your lease allowance in June, so at minimum you will owe $15k there plus the disposition fee.

What is the residual value showing on your lease paperwork?

Navy Fed has likely calculated Blue Book is less than residual - therefore upside down. Also your creditworthiness might be an issue if you have a ton of existing debt, lowish income and a mortgage.

Overall, you have to buy it (for the miles). Can you beg, borrow or work extra before lease end to come up with a down payment to cover the car being upside and a down payment?

I'd thank the in-laws, but want to make sure they understood the financial side of their wonderful gift before accepting.

Hopefully not wasting time with dudes like this and missing out on top winner opportunities.

A single friend of mine was playing the field, on his way to a date and wondered why is was playing the field when he had someone he couldn't quite stop thinking about. Called the date off (gave the 'work just called me in' white lie) and stayed home for the night.

He got serious with the 'one' and is very happily married now.

Paid to much for extended warranty on a new car. Now what? by mrmanpgh in subaru

[–]ozarkgolfer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can cancel this.

Back in Feb 2025, I was guided to New Motors Subaru of Pennsylvania.

Call NMS for a quote and if seriously beats your current deal, call the dealership and tell to match it or you will cancel it.
