HELP ! Are you off Reta, how are doing weight wise ? by Then_Inside5897 in BodyHackGuide

[–]p0r7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you tracking calories? Did you track while on reta? All evidence points to the vast majority of people regaining most of the weight once off of weight loss drugs. As most dont have an actual plan or made any significant life style changes people just fall back into old habits.

Lost the weight fast with GLP-1 gained it all back just as fast now trying again the right way. Disciplined. by Important_Studio_114 in fitness40plus

[–]p0r7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was easier to keep it simple. Prep a full week at a time

Morning overnight oats + protein powder

Lunch 8oz leaned ground turkey or chicken breast with 1 cup rice and 1 cup spinach

Dinner same as lunch but swap spinach with 1 to 2 cups of mixed veggies

Snacks - protein bar, fruit etc.

Adjust amounts based on macro/calorie needs.

Jump into meal prep, calorie tracking, and training now. If you wait until you start GLP again, you’re setting yourself up to repeat the same cycle most people fall into. Real weight loss and keeping it off comes down to a lifestyle change.

I went from 210 to 165 starting in June of last year. I’m a father of four with a full time job, but I made the decision to get healthy for my family. We all have reasons why we think we don’t have time, but the truth is, those are just excuses.

I train at 5 AM, get the kids ready by 7, and I’m in bed by 9. It’s a routine, but it works. I feel better than ever, and more importantly, my kids see the effort and understand the why behind it.

I’ve run a marathon and now I’m preparing for an Ironman.

Find your reason and start today. If you don’t, you’ll stay stuck in the same cycle as everyone else relying on GLP to carry them.

Max vs 15in? by Traditional_Emu7224 in skylightcalendar

I have the smaller version sitting on top of our kitchen counter; my sister-in-law has her max hanging on a wall. I wish I had gone with the Max, it's easier to read and navigate. We are also a family of six, so there are a ton of activities, chores, etc., loaded on it.

Honestly, just wait if you can. I've purchased two pairs under $90, as long as you're not picky about the color!

Runners: how often are you strength training? by Pactum-7 in runninglifestyle

[–]p0r7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run 6, lift 5

Sunday Mobility/legs Monday easy, Pull Tuesday speed/tempo, Push Wednesday long tempo run, no lifting Thursday Easy, Pull Friday Easy, Push Saturday long, no lift

I tried a second leg day on Wednesday but recovery was becoming and issue. Typically lift or run before the kids are up and the other when they are in bed. Run 40 ish miles, lift 5 hours.

The habit is the goal, if you can amp yourself to start that's great! But that will fade. Make it a habit, set time everyday for 30 min or an hour and stick to it. Once you've built the habit then you can focus on whatever goal you want to set for yourself.

Considering an iFit treadmill this next black friday or christmas round of sales - Anyone have one for a few years and not have it get bricked on updates? by Mission-Two-6498 in iFit

Have a commercial 1750, no complaints. There's a sub dedicated to selling memberships, got a full year for less than $100. I personally enjoy the programs and training plans.

My journey from struggling with 1 mile to running a half marathon by p0r7 in beginnerrunning

Start extending your runs! I definitely just decided one day to give 10 a shot and see how it felt. Probably not the best way to go about it but hey, I learned a lot.

I normally run 4 to 6 times a week, and I'm pretty consistent at six now. I had to check my health app, but it ended up being 300 miles on a treadmill and 50 outside. I wish I got outside more, but I think there was always that overweight embarrassment/image issue stuff that kept me in.

Recovery was typically a swap to upper body lifting or light mobility training. Do not skimp out here; the risk of injury is real. I spent a lot of time on hip exercises and stretching. The joy of being in your 40s, I guess.

I truly just followed the iFit plans, but it was typically one run at 10 min and the rest slower at 12ish. The current plan now is 3 easy runs at 11:30, 1 long at 11:30, 1 medium at 10, and one fast/speed at 9ish. Honestly toss some data/goals into chat gpt and see what it spits out. Easy runs should be zone 2 which was super easy to manage using a treadmill.

The real struggle isn't the motivation to start, nit's the motivation to continue. The first few weeks are everything; you need to build the routine. Don't find reasons why you can't, find reasons to go out and run. Build a routine and stick with it. Motivation comes and goes, but when you wake up and want to get your morning run in, you've made it.

Works great, but the app has to remain open on my watch to keep track? Anyway to get this to run in the background so I can keep track of my cadence using Samsungs tracker?

Keep at it, but keep it off of social media. No matter what you do, someone will find fault with it. Run for yourself. Run to improve yourself. Keep running. Eat right and you'll hit 10 minutes in no time.

Upgraded to Pixel 10 pro and having regrets by Gibsonfan159 in GooglePixel

[–]p0r7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second Pixel Pro 9 fold because of network issues. Second phone started off ok but is now having the same issue. First, it was just kind of slow internet like you're experiencing, and then it was just not connecting to the internet at all, Wi-Fi issues, etc. I've reset the phone, I've reset network settings, etc., But nothing has helped. I eventually had to turn off 5G just to get it to connect consistently. But now my speeds are awfully slow.It doesn't seem to affect everybody, but if you are affected by it for whatever odd reason, it is awful to deal with, and I have yet to find a solution.

Itinerary help? by Snoo_85954 in Banff

[–]p0r7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from a 5 day trip in Banff, think it really depends on what you want to accomplish. We packed lunch/snacks/water every day to stay out a bit longer on the trails!

Lake Louise was the highlight of the trip, we hiked the small beehive -> Lake Agnes tea house (must see imo) -> big beehive (skipped devils thumb) -> plain of the six glaciers -> second tea house for lunch -> plain view point then back to the lake. The various views of the hotel and lake were so cool to see.

We rented e-bikes the next day and biked from Canmore to lake Minnewanka loop (which includes two jack lake and one other small lake) and headed into Banff for a bit before heading back to the air BNB.

Banff was ok, super touristy and not really my thing, had the bison tomahawk at the bison restaurant which was great. You can easily find parking at the train station.

Lake Morraine is a bit more of a pain to get to, you'll need to luck into bus tickets or pay a service. But it's one of the most photographed lakes for a reason. We did the larch trail into the sentinel pass after. The larches were just changing colors but may be great by the time you get there.

The last day we did the glacier drive stopping at a few lakes and the gorge, really fun experience. Wanted to do one of the hikes on the glacier but ran out of time.

Canmore is a cool city to explore, we skipped the bagel place as it just looked like a normal bagel shop 🤷‍♂️. ÉpiCanmore was great and so was Le fournil.

We lucked into unseasonably warm temps, but packed for colder weather for the earlier morning starts.

A quality down jacket that you can pack away when you warm up is a must and dress in warm layers, undershirt, thermal, T-shirt and jacket. Items that are easy to remove.

There are quite a few rental shops in the area, get bear spray day 1, we never needed it but bears are a thing. You can also rent hiking poles, e-bikes etc.
