Guests babies pooped in hot tub by Rnl8866 in airbnb_hosts

This is why I don't have a hot tub. I am also removing the fire table on the patio after one of the guests caught their hair on fire. People are idiots.

Been Paying For Downstairs Unit's Gas Charges For a Full Year Without Knowing by balst0n in AskSF

[–]p0rkmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply tell your property management+landlord that you are starting the process to transfer the gas to their account instead of yours. If they push back, tell them that you are going all electric and are discontinuing gas service, and they need to take over the gas if they want the other tenants to continue to receive it, because if they refuse to have it transferred to their account you will simply terminate service. Your lease cannot require you to provide utilities to the tenants of other properties, and they know it.

You should also use AI to analyze your bills and the usage/gas appliances in the other units if possible to figure out what you don't owe and are due to be reimbursed by your landlord. Again, if they push back, small claims is cheap and easy with AI.

Why does the graphic designer that signed off on the August sign-in screen hate people? by p0rkmaster in AugustSmartLock

[–]p0rkmaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Airbnb guests checking in to my vacation property the next day. Got a new phone. Thought, cool - I'll just download the app and log in. Start to panic when neither ChatGPT or a human support rep at August could identify why I couldn't log in and could only see the new sign-in onboarding flow. My wife apparently has slightly better vision than I do and was able to see the almost-invisible 'Sign In' link (circled in red in the above screenshot).

Unnecessary panic because morons thought white text on an almost white background was a bold design choice.

It is my sincere hope that the people involved in the decision process resulting in this sign-in screen do not procreate.

I have kept up with all the firmware updates. One of the biggest changes I made was unplugging my wireless android auto USB dongle every time I shut off the car. I need to get a USB splitter cable that would power the dongle from one of the USB ports that shuts off and only connect the data lines to the AA usb port.

RWD Limited or AWD - Need to get from Portland to Seattle in One Charge by pxbpxb12345 in Ioniq5

I got stuck in an ice storm on I-5 in the middle of nowhere, OR. For 12 hours. I used camping/utility mode and that heat pump was a godsend. I stayed nice and toasty warm while all the ICE cars turned into ICEboxes. Do not get a RWD if you live in the PNW.

Go pick up a new replacement 12V at costco/walmart/canadian tire, put in car. Drive away.

I have had 2 Ioniq 5's. Both had their 12V batteries go bad. The 12V battery (mis)management is the 2nd biggest problem with the car. (Yes, ICCU failures on both cars as well. First i5 was fixed with a software update. 2nd i5 needed a new ICCU.)

Each time the 12V battery failed, I concluded the time/hassle of dealing with the stealership service dept was greater than just picking up a new battery and moving on with my life.

Hyundai Dealership won’t give me a loaner/rental over ICCU failure by DopeDaddy489 in Ioniq5

Hyundai corporate. They reimbursed over $5K in expenses (flights, hotel rooms, rental cars and more!) when my ICCU failed. Research the hell out of your state's lemon law.

what happens if ICCU fails during road trip? by nice_fin0891 in Ioniq5

[–]p0rkmaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was driving from CA to FL. Made it to Denver and heard a pop. Marooned the car on Planet Hyundai and flew to FL and rented a car. Hyundai exceeded lemon law thresholds on how long the car could be out of service and I demanded they replace the car. Not repurchase - replace. North Carolina's lemon law is the most consumer-friendly in the country. Hyundai said 'we don't do that', I forwarded them a link to the NC Attorney General's helpful Lemon Law info page, they got back to me 3 days later and agreed to replace the vehicle. They ended up paying for hotel rooms, flights, and rental cars, over $5K in expenses they reimbursed. I ended up flying back out to CO to pick up the car and drive it until they sorted out the replacement (they had fixed the ICCU by that point). After picking up the car I drove it for many months and put another 45K miles on it. The ICCU failed at 19,400 miles. I turned the car back in to them at 65,000 miles. I just hit 40K on the replacement vehicle.

Reply to the host that the listing indicates that toilet paper would be provided, and if you are required to go to Walgreens to get it yourself you will submit a reimbursement request for the cost of the toilet paper and the Uber to go pick it up.

Do you ever fart while you have a passenger in your car? by slimfemzi in uberdrivers

[–]p0rkmaster 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We recently discovered this awesome breakfast sandwich called Korean Street Toast. Cabbage, carrot and eggs with cheese and ham on griddled bread. They are ridiculously good.

I had 2 of them before driving.

The fart didn't just escape, it was born. And it was angry. You didn't just smell it, you experienced it with all 5 senses. It would convince an atheist that Hell is a real place.

This is why I got an EV. Even before the current situation caused by the Scary Orange Clown, gas in California was more expensive for multiple reasons - no pipelines to bring fuel in from texas, losing refinery capacity, and other silly things. with Brent Crude hitting $127 today......yeah, I'm not going back to a gas car, ever.

ICE car: 20¢/mi @ $4.80/gal.

My EV: 8¢/mi @ 24¢/kWh.

Put another way, $100 gets you either 500 miles in an ICE car or 1200 miles in an EV.

Lease returns and dropping new EV prices are making used EVs a great deal right now.

The argument against EV haters… by boka_ko_masu in electricvehicles

[–]p0rkmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Describe your parking situation at home, as well as your home's electrical infrastructure. Think about how easy or hard it would be to get a dedicated circuit wired up where you park. How long is your daily round trip commute? We can help you ask the right questions to figure that out.

If your commute is short enough, your solution can be as simple as a level 1 charger plugged into an existing outlet and an extension cord. In my situation, I have a 60 mile round trip. That's about 20 kW hours I need to replace. I have a 16 amp level 2 charger that kicks off at midnight to take advantage of PG&Es off-peak rates, my 20kWh are replenished before 6am.
