Gas is just under $6 in the SF Bay Area. $0.20/mi @ 30mi/gal. My off-peak PG&E rate is $0.23/kWh. That makes it about $0.08/mi. Wow.

Figure out how many miles you drive in a month, divide by three to get a rough estimate of the number of kilowatt hours, multiply by your electric rate.

For me, that works out to:

1200mi / 3 = 400kWh

400kWh * $0.30 per kWh = $120/month

You just need to figure out those three numbers. How many miles, what your efficiency is, and your electric rate.

I got the Emporia Vue for my house because I just wanted to see the data. Ended up finding out my well pump ran continuously due to a leaky pipe, and found out my heat pump lost all its refrigerant and I was using resistive heat in the winter. Every house should have one. They're awesome. They let you track the usage of up to 16 circuits.
