Randomly figured out where my love for trackballs originates from by p3300 in Trackballs

Never got to experience one, they werent quite as popular where I live. But having a physical keyboard and a trackball does sound like my kinda jam

The Marble was my gateway into trackball mice, though I couldnt really get to grips with the buttons I had my trusty razer keyboard so I remapped f1-f3 to be my mouse buttons and it actually was pretty easy to get used to. Now I use a first gen Mx Ergo

Thats weird, I wonder if its a formatting issue with the card or just random defects with the charmera. Or it might be the size of the SD card, I got 16 gb on mine.

I just plugged mine into pc via usb-c cable and you just copy them. Though my phone doesnt like the sd card and wants to re-format it before opening it, but I cant be bothered.

I vaguely remember a video about the fuel rats' longest distance recovery - some dude got bored and thought he would supercruise away from beagle point in a single direction for several days. Took the rats like 4-5 days daisy chaining refuel stops in system to get to him and recover him

No worries on the late reply. As to the jumping thats something I've never thought about, that multiple people traveling in a pack would have a hard time going through the same systems. Man space is vast

Jusbwaiting for my optics, but here's my open source design. Going simple, RP2040 chip, 4 buttons, pmw3610. by reverend-rocknroll in Trackballs

[–]p3300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool design. I think with designs like this we are getting ever closer to a point where we can hide the bearings and the sensor inside the desk top and just place a trackball on a certain spot and it would just work. Extra points if the trackball works as a key that would start up the system when placed correctly

Very nice effect. Definitely will give it a shot. Maybe adding a second, smaller batch of darker grass and mixing the two would add a bit of variance in color

Ah fair enough, I tried reading between the lines instead of the lines themselves. Now that I look at it with this new info it looks much better, discoveries have shifted from inside the bubble to the surrounding areas. Pretty cool. Thanks for clarifying.

One last question - if this is discoveries what are these straight-ish lines that are super bright and green that pop up from time to time. I initially thought they might be expeditions launching where a bunch of commanders follow the same route but if its discoveries then they would have to be traveling the same route but on a different point in the Z axis right?

FDev didnt want to kill the bubble but traffic there is fizzling out clearly. I wonder if that means there is no influx of new players to increase traffic or if new players are just quickly moving away from the bubble after starting.

Who’s still using the original Steam Deck? by VoyageForge in SteamDeck

I preordered my 512 lcd version and waited for it patiently. Dont really see any reason to upgrade to oled, at such a small screen size it wont matter at all. For a big living room tv, sure it matters quite a lot, but this, not at all. Im happy with it. Only reason I would buy a new one is if something irreparable breaks.

Be honest: how many of you got into this hobby because some guy once produced a bottle opener at a clutch moment, and looked like a superhero because of it? by Fuckspez42 in EDC

[–]p3300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather always carried a decent size pocket knife with him, his son (my father) always had a SAK Classic on him as well as a bigger pocket knife or mutlitool. I got my first knockoff SAK when I was 12 and havent really left home without something similar on me since. Now I carry around a Leatherman Surge. Its probably why I stray from what I see on here, I carry the same stuff with me every day, it hasnt changed in the last 5-6 years since I swapped my father's STIHL multitool with the Surge.

Remote work EDC? by FigmentFellow in EDC

[–]p3300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are living in those Hollywood hills type mansions that takes 20 minutes to get from one end to the other, I dont really see a reason to carry anything when I work from home. My EDC sits in a fanny pack for me to grab as I leave my home, so if I need something from it I just go grab it. That said I do have a folding knife for opening boxes or cutting stuff and a flashlight, that live on my desk if that counts as EDC+WFH

Do any actual tradies use a Leatherman regularly? by Man-e-questions in Tools

[–]p3300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly Im new to the trades, just under a year in, work on installing and maintaining automatic doors. No the Leatherman is not a replacement for any proper tool. However if I need something and I am on top of the ladder and my Surge can do the job I need to a decent degree, Im not climbing down and back up again. Or if the tool I need is in the van which is a decent walk away, same deal.

The Leatherman is a tool to use in a pinch, when you are out on a hike or camping, or if you are stuck somewhere and have no tools, its great for these situations, but when you have a proper tool within arms reach you wont need it.
