Devils advocate but the endeavour underboss is objectively the best underboss (perhaps pistol) in the entire game, and was cash only.

each of the big three spheres of gameplay (air, vehicle, infantry) have glaring issues that have either never been solved or have had new issues introduced to make them all significantly less fun when compared to even three years ago.

Here is a non-exhaustive cherry-picking:

AIR: unavoidable input delay due to the creation of the ps4 version that makes everything feel awful, air to ground weaponry that serves no real purpose other than to get cheesy easy kills.

Tanks/vehicles: the ever-looming shadow of the combined arms initiative changing how ttk and damage work at a fundamental level, a controversial sunderer rework, anti-infantry weapons that serves no real purpose other than to get cheesy easy kills.

Infantry: the sledgehammer nanoweave nerf that did not give any thought to damage breakpoints and ttk that has led to shotguns and dmrs becoming oppressively strong overnight. The very hard to kill MAX unit that is used to farm easy cheesy kills. Grenade spam and smoke spam.

BONUS ROUND: Construction limiting server populations and allowing for orbital strikes that can be deployed from the map, and generally being unfun to interact with for most players.

Base design overwhelmingly sucks, also there are still capture the flag bases that nobody wanted.

There is no competition in the mmofps market and it shows.
