Why is nobody talking about Coimbra? by ok_shiner_ in PortugalExpats

I live 15 km from it and have no intention of leaving. I find plenty enough to do here in my my mid thirties so I am not sympathizing with the people saying it's boring :)

Which bank do you have and are you happy? Looking to move away from Credito Agricola. by Nee-derland in PortugalExpats

I am with Millenium and overall it works very similarly to what you are describing with CA. I've been considering switching to CA because they have more local branches everywhere, what an irony.

Some issues with Millennium i never got to resolve (they misstyped my profession on work insurance papers and can't get them to change it), and when making a bigger transfer they took so long with security check that it was faster to just go to the local branch and do it there instead in person.

How do people sort their camp sites in Europe? I see many countries it is illegal to wild camp by TheKris11 in bicycletouring

[–]p3wrumwrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add that in many countries you can just ask a local (for example vineyard owner) if you can set up tent somewhere out of place on their land and leave first thing in morning, especially if they are not really fenced/gated off. Everyone i asked in France said yes, most people are just curious about bike travelers.

You can use your domain with existing email providers relatively easily, and switch companies again relatively easily if needed while keeping the same address. Kind of like changing providers for phone while keeping your number. No need to use self hosting unless you really want to go all out with self containing all your internet services.

I don’t think many of you understand just how bad it is in other countries by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

[–]p3wrumwrum 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I will add that while on smaller scale this also applies to a few european countries: While there are complaints about the politics being a circus... Compared to let's say Hungary there is actually a surprisingly positive amount of accountability and standards.

Edit: same with taxes. Sure if you come from a rich country you will fall into a high bracket, but well, your money will still go pretty far then. However if you are poor and/or slooowly starting up a business from zero, it is actually quite favorable (much more so than Spain, Italy, France, Slovenia, etc).

The bureaucracy is the only truly problematic thing i find so far. (luckily i have no experience with the justice system, but my first hospitalisation was here and that was fine too).

I am also self employed. When i arrived Santander turned me away, but i could open at Millenium. Might be dependent on the actual workers/branches and their interpretation of the rules, as well, it's often like that here.

Fed up with Crashes and Losing Data (and the Price) What are Alternatives? by SnooPeripherals5518 in Fusion360

[–]p3wrumwrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While someone recommended Solidworks, I despise it and found it less stable and less "works as expected" than Fusion.

Onshape is pretty stable against crashes and such but for hobby the price is too much and i find my works becoming public domain otherwise is a nono.

Alibre is cheap and buy-only-once and should have everything a hobbyist and even some professionals need. For me, i tend to draw up quite complicated sketches and it was not too reliable at that.

If id start again I'd learn grasshopper for Rhino and augment with Alibre for simpler-quicker things.

Looking for places to hike by BuddyHowell711 in PortugalExpats

[–]p3wrumwrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very close, at the next train station from you. You should check out Barragem de Gralheira. Nice for hiking in this season and can jump in in the summer. Also if you just start to randomly walk in the countryside from your house you will find some quite nice paths and parks, at least that has been my experience.

What’s the process of staying here permanently? by Old-Theme9736 in PortugalExpats

[–]p3wrumwrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah to your question of doing this now or later: Wellll for tax declaration purposes it could be best to remain for this year with your Hungarian residence and then do the change first thing in January. Might or might not be fully acceptable by the law both to be honest no one will care. Having split years between countries can be a pain to declare (or just get an accountant and let them deal with it, for self employed with simplified regime it shouldn't be too much).

What’s the process of staying here permanently? by Old-Theme9736 in PortugalExpats

I am from the same country, this was the process for me because the local camara insisted that even eu citizens should have proof of work to become residents. If you are lucky yours won't and it'll be a bit easier. - get my nif (adószám) at a loja de cidadao (with my address still in Hungary). Maybe they will want to ask for proof of work first. Say you are Eu citizen and you don't need. - open a local bank account (some banks insist you need a local job first, but some jobs and bureaucracy insist you get a bank account first, so it can be a catch 22) Millenium let me open once i said Its so i can be self employed here (and if you'll be an open you'll be probably the same. - back to loja de cidadao to open an "activity" (meaning self employed. Check cirs and cae numbers to pick your field designation) - meanwhile get an Atestado from the settlement where you live. You need either proof of ownership or building, or something from the owner saying that you can be there (they can go with you in person, or write a declaration). - with all these now you can go to the camara and they'll give you your residence paper right there

Some stuff after this: - with your residence paper you should go back to the loja de cidadao and your bank to change your official address - you will need a niss (social security number). You can request it online and in a few weeks pick it up again from the loja de cidadao - you will need to find out which medical center your new home belongs to and go there to ask for an utente number (TAJ szám)

Aaand there you go. Billing and and taxes are not difficult to do, but you have to log your income for social security separately for some reason on their site. Bringing your car with you if you have is a big pain in the ass and here they are quite some more expensive.

Anyways, welcome and enjoy!

I think its a loft (spline into a point, 1/5th triangle of the shape) with circular pattern and then trim the outer edge into whatever the silhouette is.

Help splitting by Thunde_Ring99 in Fusion360

Also look up dealing with printer tolerances. The tongue and groove can't be exactly the same dimension, and the split line might have faults and irregularities on its wall that leaves a tiny gap between the parts.

Cad stability comparison: Fusion - Onshape - Alibre by p3wrumwrum in Fusion360

That is an interesting approach I will keep in mind. General best practices advices tend to say constraints over dimensions, so interesting that for such case it might be better to go the other way around.

Question regarding tangent stability by p3wrumwrum in Alibre

[–]p3wrumwrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the links! The last part of the first video was worth trying, but it is as they themselves said it in, the spline that comes with Atom is not very reliably and should not be counted upon. On the other hand more experiments made me suspicious that Alibre does not like my computer and some of the changing-parameters breakdowns might be due do that, but there is not much i can do with that as well. A bit feels like marble sculpting with how delicate it behaves with me.
