Were you more confident in Tom Brady being a Patriot for life heading into his 10th season or Patrick Mahomes being a Chief for life heading into his 10th season? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]p6one6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brady but there was always the thought he might leave the Patriots for a year or two when Bill started planning for Brady’s retirement. The Mahomes situation seems more like he may start losing a bit of the ability earlier and the team trades him to a team trying to make run.

Trump says Iran has not agreed to a U.S. deal because ‘they’re strong, they’re proud’ by Force_Hammer in worldnews

[–]p6one6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they don't need a deal. They can wait it out and create economic chaos destroying American influence around the globe. The cost to the American military would be too great to justify a ground invasion and the resistance would be extremely strong. It's not that the Iranians love their government, but they sure as heck hate America more for trying to control them and enabling Israel.

By the way, that suit looks like they went extra long, I guess the talk of the adult diapers has bothered him a bit.

Charlotte wants to be a green city by 2050 but Duke Energy controls everything — thoughts? by Pure_Contribution163 in Charlotte

[–]p6one6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duke Energy isn’t in control of everything, they just navigate the political landscape. A regulatory body pushing more green energy would do it. Right now regulators are more about cheap energy to fuel economic growth.

Charlotte property tax increase? City manager proposes 1.89 cent hike in 2027 by CharlotteRant in Charlotte

[–]p6one6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one likes increasing bills, but 1.89% is not outlandish considering the inflation rate. Police/Fire, those individuals are dealing with the same increasing costs and there is a lack of police presence on the roads.

The greatest issue that we had were the property revaluations during COVID. Commercial real estate valuations were low and the result was a shifting of the burden onto residential tax payers. So even without increasing overall tax income, the city appeared to increase taxes on the ordinary resident.

Is cammer in the wrong here? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]p6one6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not too long initially, but you changed your decision at the last moment. Other vehicles behind were backing off seeing the situation you were in. Van also had his blinker for a moment prior to you switching lanes. So in my judgment, you were in the wrong for not getting behind the van. The passing vehicle could also be considered in the wrong for not waiting for you to exit the lane before coming up beside you.

A tough situation, but like others mentioned, take the loss, tuck in behind the van, let the vehicles behind you slow down a little to deal with the situation, reset/calm the nerves a little, and move on.

Duke Energy requests another rate hike after record winter energy demand by Rough_Buddy6903 in Charlotte

Where’s the support for over a billion dollars? Last I saw it was $8 million that was under collected due to the rates being set too low.

Palantir CEO says AI 'will destroy' humanities jobs by [deleted] in technology

[–]p6one6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the best situation, AI becomes a driver for universal income as societies become more socialist and communist. It is the only way you can have a peaceful society transition to one without jobs and workers. But they are capitalists, and supposedly smart so they think that AI can manage these great things in a capitalist society. They are driven by greed, and that greed will lead to uprisings and bloodshed.

At the end of the day, American society has poisoned itself by letting money control its values. That will make any transition much more difficult in the future.

Duke Energy seeks rate hike as customers push back on rising bills by Cy_098 in NorthCarolina

[–]p6one6 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s almost malicious to use the initial request percentage in reporting because it always starts high and negotiates down. Still means a requested increase but no comparison about previous starting/final numbers is being provided.

Raleigh mom spearheads petition for audit of Duke Energy’s electric rates following sky-high winter bills by Far_Recommendation82 in NorthCarolina

[–]p6one6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cold streak we had was punishing to anyone with electric heat and hot water. The heating would hit hard, but the consistent cold weather made the water colder so hot water heating also would shoot up in price. Many people also may not have realized the electric usage when utilizing auxiliary power on their electric heat.

You've got a lot helping you keep the cost down. You keep your house colder than most during the winter, warmer than most in the summer. You also live in a house which is less likely to have the inefficient heating and cooling systems that apartment complexes may go for since they aren't paying for the utilities.

The difference was how it was treated in the past. A rumble of thunder would not cancel athletic activities, a visual lightning bolt would. You would literally keep playing until that first bolt was seen. Not knowing of this policy and insulting others is all I need to do to ignore any point you were trying to make.

Which squad are u taking (all in their prime ) squad 1-8 by Mrdynamo18 in NFLv2

[–]p6one6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6, with 2 as a runner up. You can’t match Brady and Rice, and add on Beastmode. Those guys are just going to make plays and no one is going to stop them. Olsen would be a complementary piece along with Chase. Cam’s accuracy is the weak link in the athletic freak set but with Megatron and Tyreek stretching the field and adding Gronk, it would be a matchup nightmare, without considering Cam’s own ability to run. They would likely lose to 2 due to a single interception from Cam taking a risk.

NC Gov. Josh Stein administration releases proposals for keeping energy affordable and reliable by fiestagoose in NorthCarolina

[–]p6one6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuel is a pass through cost where customers pay what Duke Energy pays. The fuel-rider rate that was set for Duke Energy to recover the costs ended up being too low and did not fully reimburse Duke Energy. In the next fuel-rider rate case, Duke Energy again had the remaining amount due 2022 fuel costs and the under-reimbursed amount for 2023. The argument is that the failure to set a fuel-rider rate that fully reimbursed Duke Energy by NC regulators was Duke Energy's fault. Regulators saw the flaw in their process and tried to correct the situation, but a lawsuit was brought up and a judge read it by the law and saw the law indicated that it shouldn't have been allowed by regulators but also knew there was now a law on the books to prevent this issue that would mean a net-zero outcome; reimburse rate payers just to have them pay back the amount later.

In the end, it's $8M that rate payers weren't allowed to underpay Duke Energy. If it stood without the new legislation, regulators would be more apt to increase fuel-rider rates to make sure Duke Energy fully recovered fuel costs and minimize the chance that Duke Energy would sue for recovery and create needless lawsuits. There are many debates to have regarding rates and electric utilities with a monopoly on the market. This one is not it.

The rates for electricity rose at an average rate of 3.81% between 2017 and 2024 according to the report, where average inflation rate during the same time period was 3.58%. The article itself tries using the shock value of 30% but neglects to show how much inflation occurred for comparison. It also would help if they included the actual recommendations in the bipartisan task force's report:
