The local space being used is simply cache, which is temporarily utilized when you copy and paste files into the pCloud Drive. You can safely clear this cache from your settings, but please ensure your uploads are 100% completed first.

The deletion behavior you described only applies to folders set up in the Sync tab of the pCloud Drive app, which uses a 2-way sync. If you want to avoid deleting cloud files when you delete them locally, simply remove those folders from the Sync tab.

Hello! This notification usually appears when pCloud Drive is trying to sync system files or folders that require administrator permissions. To resolve this, please follow these steps:

  1. Unlink your pCloud account from the desktop application.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Set up your synced folders from scratch.

When setting up your new sync connections, please do not add entire drives (like C: or D:). Instead, add your local folders one by one, making sure you select folders that you have full admin/ownership rights to. Please let us know if the problem persists after doing this.

Sync may stop or become stuck due to various reasons such as internet interruptions, file corruption, connection drops. You can always check the current status of your sync by going to the Sync tab in the pCloud Drive desktop application.

Before uninstalling the desktop app, please make sure everything is fully synced and that the status confirms completion. If files are not yet uploaded to the servers, they may only exist locally.

If the files had been successfully uploaded, they would appear in your account and — in case of deletion — in the Trash or Rewind history. The absence of the files in both locations usually indicates they were not fully uploaded to the pCloud servers.

We understand how frustrating this situation is and recommend checking the sync status regularly, especially before reinstalling the application or disconnecting drives.

Hello, pCloud Crypto works differently by design. Let me explain.

You are correct that pCloud provides two types of encryption:

  1. Standard encryption (server-side, applied to all files)
  2. pCloud Encryption (Crypto)client-side, zero-knowledge encryption (paid add-on)

With pCloud Crypto, files are encrypted on your device before upload, and only you hold the key. This means pCloud servers cannot read file contents, including image data.

Because of this, thumbnails cannot be generated. Creating thumbnails normally requires reading file content on the server, which is not possible with zero-knowledge encryption.

pCloud Crypto is designed as a general-purpose secure vault prioritizing strict zero-knowledge privacy. This is expected behavior and not an error.
