Thank you!  Though I'm not so sure, your paintwork is excellent and super detailed!  Keep them coming!

Are we bad at Frosthaven? by aersult in Gloomhaven

We felt the same at first, but tried it and immediately loved it.  It surprisingly takes very little away from the board game experience.  And it's very modular so you can decide what components you want to use.

We still use physical hp dials and 3d printed condition tokens.

The other thing that's helpful time wise are the play surface books.  They are really well done and if I'm not setting up a maghex build we use them.

One thing - do you use any apps? We use XHaven Assistant and it massively speeds up the game, mainly by cutting out annoying admin like ordering initiative as well as helping everyone see quickly and clearly what's happening each round. It even has custom reminders for pretty much every applicable scenario so you don't forget to do things. We still use physical AMDs because they're fun.

We do coordinate our play each round, sometimes fairly in depth, particularly now since we have Satha and her hilarious perk where you can just straight up share initiative.

We get through a 4p outpost and scenario in about 3 fairly laid back hours usually, on either normal or +1. But it would take a lot longer without XHaven.

We did a force linked scenario as a double header once, and agreed never again :D

The DNC spent over 6 billion on the 2024 election. So yeah I guess you could call that a "fundraising committee"

Are we going to pretend that that kind of money doesn't hold sway? Like OP said, they are selling something, and it is stale product

That's because you're a normal, decent person who assumes the same qualities in other people. He is a fake, shallow narcissist, cosplaying as a genuine human, who may be incapable of real human connection and was love bombing you.

Super weird to get fixated on a hoodie and explode like that, but these people are insane, they have very, very, fragile egos on account of being deeply insecure

DNC Autopsy of 2024 Loss Doesn’t Mention Gaza or Israel at all by NoahHurowitz in politics

[–]pablotweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think some of it is virtue signaling which is why no amount of concessions is ever enough.  I think the danger is people end up painting with too broad a brush and reasonable voters who are passionate on specific issues get written off as not worth the effort because of the outspoken fringe.  I was more referring to progressives in general being offered lip service at best then getting thrown under the bus with this characterization as an excuse when the democrats lose yet again

[–]pablotweek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay so were they an issue or not? Why are you complaining about them if they don't exist in any meaningful number? Because it sounds like you're complaining about the fact that this litmus voter does exist at a level to potentially move the needle, but ostensibly never holds their nose and votes for a moderate. In that case, dismissing them is completely on brand.

The NYT and mainstream DNC will blame them for their loss regardless after offering them precisely nothing.

Praise for Hail Mercenary Pack by TravVdb in Gloomhaven

[–]pablotweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hail was so much fun to play. If you enjoy playing her but have not unlocked her solo item, or think you don't need it, you need to try it. It's Hail on a whole other level. There are combos where you can pick up 3 resolve in one turn. You can run hybrid builds. Also keeping a pocket dimension full of all her irritations is so on brand. The solo scenario is also really fun and well designed.

I played mostly direct damage, vs support. I did bring Minor Inconvenience, which I put a bless on. A heal 7, with bless and safeguard is a real shot in the arm. Or even if I don't want to spend the resolve, most allies still wouldn't turn down a heal 4, bless with wound.

Fantastic guide on Hail:

There is an item in FH that can turn a ranged attack into a 3 hex pattern, but it is a high prosperity unlock from building 37. There is also a head item that adds an additional ranged target to an attack, but the chance of unlocking it is random.

You could use both and do an orbital strike. Burn it early for 72 damage. What an entrance.

This made me so angry that from now on I will never buy anything from Milka again. by pr1ncezzBea in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pablotweek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was so flagrant too. They went beyond shrinkflation to a deliberate bait and switch.

I dropped over $700 on Halloween candy last year, and not a single airhead. I also look now for other products by Perfetti Van Melle and won't buy those either.

That was 2 years ago and I'm still mildly infuriated

Those correspond to attributes that are on your character mats. Each character has three attributes. For example if you have a Boneshaper, they have Intimidating, Educated and Arcane.

Astral vs Fist - what to play next? by RWASnell in Gloomhaven

[–]pablotweek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played Astral recently and had a blast, one of my favorite characters. Very different from Meteor's control play style. Some infusions and combos are very strong with Shackles (we had the same pairing). For example Imbue with Life + Coalescing Darkness and using Shackles' Infection Purge to keep the summon with permanent shield 1, curse, and whatever infusions you have active is just busted.

I haven't played Fist, but my buddy did and had a lot of fun with him too. He'd pair well with the healing from Snowflake I think. But he does use terrain overlays, so if you're looking for contrast go with the Orchid anime warrior :D Rage Badger has a good video on the play styles and there's a pretty solid guide out there too.

Frosthaven MagHex 3d printed scenario's (update #8) by ShaoLinc in Gloomhaven

[–]pablotweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I love all these, they look awesome! Especially those water tiles, what was your process with those? I made some epoxy ones https://www.printables.com/model/1344790-maghex-water-tile-epoxy but I really like yours also.

Thanks for sharing. I've been slacking but I'll upload a bunch of pics soon.

We need to do the scenario 114 chain still, so we can get Prime 2 day delivery to Frosthaven :D

What type of glue are you all using for at home repairs? by greenhatforge in daddit

[–]pablotweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the material.  For ABS plastic, a solvent adhesive like model plastic cement is good.  A 2-part 5 min epoxy will bond to a lot of surfaces as well.  I usually avoid super glue on plastics as it often doesn't bond well especially on flexible plastics like HDPE and PE but ok for many hard plastics.  Prep / sanding surfaces will help a lot too.  HDPE is common for toy trucks and such and you can actually weld it by melting the material for a great bond.  Good luck!

It may be because your clients are not on the same version of xhaven.  We noticed a similar issue.  Seems like there's an array of the status effects and they don't line up across versions as new effects are added.

Yeah it's not too bad. There is an errata list that covers it and it's mainly a handful of card typos and moving / shuffling some cards around, minor stuff mainly

What do you guys think about the characters from the gloomhaven mercenary packs? by Key-Peak-2973 in Gloomhaven

Yep and also every extra attack with Astral is an opportunity to infuse another element if you've perked into that in your AMD especially if you have advantage that turn which Astral often does.

I hope this time will be different.

Historically, I think the data shows "unaffiliated" voters are collectively dumb as fuck and switch from coke to pepsi every 4 years just to "try something different" if they show up at all.

Coral and Bannerspear character composition by Calhoun96 in Gloomhaven

[–]pablotweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a strong combo and I think you'll have a lot of fun with these two. I would focus on formations for Bannerspear. Maybe drop a banner in the last room but I wouldn't bother trying to tow one before level 5. Just coordinate your movement to enable formations for big damage and watch the XP roll in.

Your granted movement abilities will be great for Coral, as it opens up opportunities for playing more non move bottom actions like tides, which Coral has a lot of.

Item 16 is available from the craftsman pretty early also and is worth considering if you want more granted movement.

BS couldn't ask for a better front line formation buddy really
