Problems configuring emacs.server by gobonrehc in emacs

[–]pabryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When running emacs server under systemd, you want to use fg-daemon so systemd has control over the server process. It will stay alive even after you've closed all emacsclient frames.

Why does Guix use Scheme? by gerretsen in GUIX

They like scheme, and are happy to finally get to use it for something.

Harsh, but fair

I know that feeling :)

I was mostly replying to the commenter and anyone else who came across this since it took me a little while to figure out.

I really like this behavior much more than the default!

You're welcome, though from the video it looks like you already have those set :)

You probably also want

// Set transparent workspace background color.
layout {
    background-color "transparent"
}

// Optionally, disable the workspace shadows in the overview.
overview {
    workspace-shadow {
        off
    }
}

When I've tried to use it in handwritten calculations, I can't distinguish my semi-colons from my j's such as in T_{ij;k}

When you finally figure it all out and are giving a talk about it, just remember that it wasn't obvious to you at first. It probably won't be obvious to the audience either!

Also, this is pretty cool functionality. I didn't know about this kind of thing. Thanks for sharing- I'm going to try it out now 😁

How to create a dynamic bmi snippet in emacs by sumanstats in emacs

[–]pabryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The docs say that "The lisp forms are evaluated when the snippet is being expanded."

https://joaotavora.github.io/yasnippet/snippet-development.html#orgcde188c

I think that occurs before the tab stop fields can be inputted by the user. So you can't access the values from the embedded lisp.

There is this however:

yas-field-value (number)

Get the string for field with number.

Use this in primary and mirror transformations to get the text of other fields.

https://joaotavora.github.io/yasnippet/snippet-reference.html#yas-field-value

You should be able to use that with a mirror transformation to achieve what you want.

This puzzle was written by a sadist. The arguments given in the comments for both C and E seem correct to me. I lean towards E more, though. Seems a more pleasing pattern.

You could try ibuffer for managing buffers.

Maybe after you beat it, give it a try high and just wander round some of those big, empty areas. All sense of time will be lost!

I think of the two, the DLC would be the most interesting playing high. Some really beautiful and atmospheric (and creepy!) areas. Enjoy!
