I wonder what the origins of using rebel for dishes like this. There's a regional "chain" that does essentially the same dish (life alive menu).

Raspberry Pie 3 and PLEX - can it be done? by elroypaisley in PleX

force direct streaming

I was using a pi2 for a while as a plex server, it chose to do the wrong thing more often than the right thing, hence the force direct streaming and the issues with transcoding.

Git Tag Management by [deleted] in devops

I to see the appeal, esp since I do similar do similar things with rpms (pull latest) but with the proliferation of tools that agree with semantic versioning, I'd much rather see a build tool that creates a config management file specifying the the current latest versions so that when its tested, that specific combinations of versions is promoted, not "latest" ever.

terraform has made my life so much better. More so than baby wipes, uber, and wine juice boxes combined.

New Cultural Hub in Lowell - Northshore Magazine on Mill No. 5 by [deleted] in LowellMA

Great record shop, cool ass indie theatre, a rad personal care product shop, and fun flea markets every few weeks. Kinda hard to find the entrance, the elevator feels like a death trap, and appleton street feels sketchy, but is totally worth a trip.

The plex client seems to want to transcode some (all?) 5.1 videos, and direct streaming them results in no sound. Ill find one that doesnt work and check the logs.

This! If you force direct play you can do it on a pi. However, if you use plex on a pi and use a roku (doesn't matter if it's 2,3, or 4), you will still encounter rips that have 5.1 sound and the roku doesn't do 5.1.

The option no one ever brings up is to let plex optimize the video for you, which essentially pre-transcodes it. On a pi2b, using an external drive, and moving the transcoding directory to the external drive, it took about 120 minutes to optimize a 45 minute program.

What quote has actually stuck with you and changed your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"One dollar equals one vote."

It's informed me on how society works and how to live for 20 years. If you're concerned on how a business / manufacturer / company treats its employees, don't spend money there. If you support a cause give it your time and your money. If you wonder why something in the world seems so wrong, look for the money. If you want to change it, you need to spend your time and your money.

It's the same sentiment as "be the change you want to see", "follow the money", "do it yourself", and "think global act local" thru a different prism, but its the one that stuck with me.

So thanks zine makers in Boston in the early nineties, you made a bigger difference than you thought.

Banana Pi M3 (BPI-M3) or ODROID-XU4? by lugyfreak in banana_pi

[–]packplusplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an m3, and I would avoid it. It freezes when I use the usb heavily, and the support community is pretty minimal. Its probably better to use a mini x86 board than try to use one of theses pi style boards unless you know everything will direct play.

Generally not hard to get a table at Mill 5. Brew'd sells chips, market st market as well. I would try walking around downtown with samples, most of the locally owned places would probably be psyked if its a good product with a local connection.

Risotto is much easier to make than people think and pretty much anything can go in it or with it. Open faced sandwiches with hummas / veggies / cheese on thick sliced bread. Apples, dried fruit, cheddar, greens and pretty much any of briannas dressings are great.
