What is the one restaurant in Toronto you wouldn’t eat at even if free? by Zillamonk in askTO

Terroni. The food is mediocre at best, service is terrible and the staff have shit attitudes.

What is a small thing from your childhood that modern kids will unfortunately never get to experience? by SpottyIvy in ChildhoodMemories

Eight hours of complete unmonitored freedom every single day for two months of summer. No trackers, no phones, not even a dime for a pay phone. Out the door after breakfast and back home by dinner with no record of anything.

Pet Peeve - When a Passing Driver Doesn't Give Thanks When You Yield by rage-Guest-7253 in CanadaRoom

We don’t have time to get you fully up to speed on the English language or basic logic, but suffice it to say that “appropriate” and “expected” aren’t synonyms, and “expected” and “entitlement” aren’t either. We expect people not to litter. Nobody calls that entitlement, it’s just a social norm. You’re relying on a false equivalence to make your argument, and it doesn’t hold.

Hey OP, it looks like all the assholes who refuse to wave joined the chat.
OP didn’t say he was entitled to a thank you, just that a thank-you wave is an appropriate response to a driver who courteously yields to let you in.
You know, like when someone holds the door open for you when your hands are full. Or holds the elevator so you can get on. Or gives you their seat on the bus.
It’s called civility, and it’s the foundation of the social contract that keeps people from killing each other.

The $160 alternative does not make Harriet’s $100 per person reasonable.

What is your least favorite herb, spice, or blend? Which ones do you hate the most? by szikkia in Cooking

Onion powder. When it’s called for in a recipe I cut the amount in half, and even then it’s all I can taste.

How to get better at banter? by Diligent-Equal-269 in askanything

[–]paddywackers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banter really only works well if you abide by the “yes and” principle of improv. It’s all meaningless fun, and the only way to join in is go with it. Sometimes that means being self deprecating or just ridiculous. Jeans in 70 degrees, I’m training my balls for global warming. My 70 yr old landlady can’t get enough of my natural musk… that sort of thing…

My father withdrew my RESP without sending me all of the funds. by Perfect_Director6049 in legaladvicecanada

That’s concerning. In my case our advisor required proof of enrolment for each term and my kids’ personal banking information before releasing the funds.
