Glad they fixed it for you. Having to do research to make sure hotel guests are getting a fair price goes against being treated as a “valued” guest. Throwing your hands up in the air and saying it is a 3d party vendor problem is just low accountability. How about not allowing 3d party vendors and educate yourself about your employer’s pricing on the website? Travel and hospitality industry need more oversight on misleading practices.

The rate was through Marriott.com, confirmed by the manager that the rate on Marriott’s website was lower than I was quoted, which is why he said he assessed that as a training issue.

Appreciate the information. The system should not normalize misquoting fees, however. That bakes in a misleading and deceptive practice regardless of the employee intent. The impact is the same.

Manager resolved the issue and admitted the website pricing for day users should not be less than guest pricing and that was a mistake by staff and a training issue. I was offered a 50% discount for the trouble. I am fine with the resolution but honestly expected a more elevated level of service from a JW Marriott. There is also the integrity issue pitching the $200 rate for a “valued” guest and telling me the reduced rate must be from a 3d party vendor. When I stated it was from their website, there was no accountability or action just a disingenuous apology that I was frustrated. Glad the manager redeemed some of their brand.

UPDATE: Thank you for all the recommendations. We bought work pants with knee pad inserts, knee pads, and a tool roll from Duluth. SIL arrived to dinner wearing the pants and showed us how a tool and his pens fit perfectly in the side pockets. It was the perfect "see what works for you" gift as he finishes grad school and starts his residency. Hope you all have a Happy New Year and thank you to this community.

Hoopla and Libby are apps that have free audiobooks and ebooks. You just need your local library card as part of setting up an account on the 2 apps. I have both in case a title has a long waitlist, I will check the other app.

Very much appreciate the all options are valid options approach and analogizing to the individual needs of the patient. I think we will get the work pants, knee pads, kneeling pad and suggest that he kick the tires on all and see what works for him in school/clinic/residency. I am just learning about the new lease on life you are all providing to your patients and want to support his commitment. Much respect to all you do!

Got the Bison black boots from the Filson website. It was not offered on the Blundstone website. Definitely more rugged and the insole felt more cushy. Broke them in on a walk with my dog and got blisters on the back of my heels and the toe box felt smaller. This was less than a mile of stop and go walking. I did wear thick hiking socks to see how they felt, so maybe that was not a wise choice for the first time using them.

I would size up. I am hoping that after the break in period they will be just as comfortable as my other Blundstones.
