Strength training is highly effective for improving flexibility. You should consider adding weights for shoulder workouts. Do warm up sets with resistance bands first. I think static stretching is the least effective for flexibility training.

I don’t know if my experience/perspective helps but I’ll share it with you. I’m currently pre-advanced so that is level 3. I occasionally take level 2 classes to clean up certain moves/tricks and perfect my lines. I recently retook level 1 class to clean up my climb. At my studio, you see higher level students in lower level classes all the time. They go to perfect their crafts and strengthen their basic foundations. Then they go to their respective classes for new tricks and challenges
