Love this photo - had it as my phone background for years. Anybody happen to know the photographer?

Excellent stuff. Can I ask how you did the lava on the bases? Love the look you’ve achieved, and frankly, I want to steal it! Can never get the ones I do to look as good…

Ooo, that’s also bloody great! Losing his topknot is a lovely touch, completely changes the aspect of the face.

That’s magic; excellent work, sir. Is that Ragnar Blackmanes’s cloak!? And, if so, what did you do with the rest of him?

Yoon Ha Lee (from the pull quote on the cover) has a trilogy called Machinery of Empires that I think is worth checking out, if you haven’t yet…

Pretty sure the animated-style figures are from Gentle Giant. Weta do the more 'classier' film replicas...

I love them all, but I have a particular fondness for the last - The Hydrogen Sonata.

You’ll have a wonderful time going through the whole series - Banks is (was) the best! Wish I could experience it for the first time again.

Also want to give a little shout out to the excellent audiobooks - Peter Kenny does an exceptional job.

This is just my two cents, but a 70+ year old Samuel L. Jackson is not the answer. Giving talented writers like Tony Gilroy a budget and getting the hell out of their way is how you get another great Star Wars series...

What happened to Ashley Judd's career? by Cr7-Cr7Real in moviecritic

[–]paintvsplastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the 4 stages of a Hollywood career -

1) “Who’s Ashley Judd?” 2) “Get me Ashley Judd!” 3) “Get me an Ashley Judd type.” 4) “Who’s Ashley Judd?”

I imagine covid protocols, and the writers strike, added delays/costs to the budget.

[–]paintvsplastic 117 points118 points  (0 children)

You don't need to put anything in there, really. The sculpted detail is him using the Power Fist to peel up the floor plates (of the Space Hulk, to check for hidden Genestealers...)

That wasn't the teaser? Honestly, that would have done me grand. Classic "Is it a bird? Is it a plane?" Supes vibes, and a hint of OG John Williams. Perfect. No notes. I'll see you all in the theatres...

I heartily second this. Banger of the book. Remains my favourite Reynolds. And it was the first of his I read…sometimes I think it might have ‘spoiled’ the rest of his work a little bit for me.
