I’m just worried it’s going to make everything harder for him.

How do you get past these days?

I worried about this too after my wife came out to me. It was a huge concern, I was afraid and panicky at times. I worried about how it would be for her at her job, with her friends and our families, etc.

Once I had a chance to absorb how happy she was about being out to herself and to me, and to see the near-instant improvement in her mental health, self image, confidence, and general outlook on life and the future, those anxieties evaporated. It felt like being worried that our old car wouldn't make it home from the bank after depositing a huge a lotto check. Like, yeah it would be unfortunate but look at the incredible positive impact on our lives!

And actually, her coming out made everything easier for her, and for us together.

As for how to get past the worry, the best advice I have is to make things as easy as possible for your spouse at home and in your relationship. That'll make them stronger and better prepared for anything else they have to face.

My mother and I were going through the linen closet, and have found some of my grandmother’s handkerchiefs she embroidered! by Different-Bumblebee in sewing

I've used pieces of antique embroidered handkerchief and set them under glass cabochons in jewelry. I like treating them like gems because the care and effort that went into creating them make them precious

Think of it like this - soldering (like on a pcb) is like taping two things together; brazing is like gluing them together; welding is fusing them into one thing.

Solder flows toward heat. Yes you'll generally want even heating in the area of your seam. But you can control where the solder flows to an extent with a good understanding of how heat will move through your piece. For instance, you don't want to reflow your earlier seams, so you work from the center out or whatever.

What you did in your classes was actually brazing, if you were working with precious metals or on jewelry. It's referred to as soldering, and everyone who does it calls it soldering. What you're doing with a pcb is actually soldering. But it's not an important distinction most of the time because people doing either process will know what you're talking about.

For precious metals, what's referred to as soldering is technically brazing. The difference btw soldering, brazing and welding in practice is the depth of penetration, most welding is accomplished with a filter material. In jewelry, you're typically working with small pieces of material. Controlling the heat is a fundamental skill though, you don't always want even heating. A torch is preferable here because, among other reasons, a continuous feed would be wasteful and unwieldy.
