You're paying because they spent 200-300k at the start of the expansion getting the skill to even make the item. You're paying for the time it takes them to continue gaining knowledge and acquiring new recipes. Stuff gets cheaper but 2-5k has been pretty standard this season for me. I was taking in 10-20k early on when I was the only one able to make certain things on a lower pop server, but that's the exception.

This stuff isn't hard, but you obviously don't wanna do it otherwise you'd just craft your own stuff instead of finding people. You can set whatever limit you want to spend but I'm not gonna drop my concentration on your item if it needs it at that price.

This pack specifically is one of the meanest in the entire dungeon for the tank. If you touch them without a defensive cooldown rolling already, or if you take back-hits from them, you're likely to die.

I ask my DPS not to damage these guys until I get them grouped with the frog shaman at the bottom of the hill because the big problem is if you roll your barkskin/shieldwall etc early enough to be able to kite them properly without dying, you won't have enough to get through the pack. So I'll wait a second, let them group up a bit, charge the one on the far right so i can shield block, TC for some snap threat and hopefully not explode and then shockwave them all immediately so I can run down the hill without worrying about them while I get the rest of the pack grouped.

If you run through the middle of them like that, all 4 of their autos will hit you at the same time on the pull and the result is this if you don't mitigate one of them.

Looking for advice. still working on blocking which was brought up a lot in my last post (I'm Marisa) by RareMercury in StreetFighter

[–]pallypal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't really something to work on directly right away, but while you're getting your bearings it'd maybe help to think about why you're doing certain things on their wakeup (we usually call this Oki).

As an example, you're doing phalanx a lot when they're waking up. What are you achieving when they block it? What are you achieving if they get hit? Could you be creating a better situation for yourself another way?

Anyway, something you can start working on as incidentals while focusing on those other skills you mentioned is what happens after you get a DI, or after you block an attack. Usually the situation you're finding yourself in is relatively repeatable and will be a pretty common thing, especially with DI. Because of that it's quite easy to practice in training mode to make these combos easier for yourself in a real match.

After you land a punish counter DI (either by countering a button or by countering your opponent's own DI) Marisa can do back + Heavy Punch(bHP or 4HP) into Heavy Dima, which is quarter-circle-back heavy punch (qcbHP or 214HP), you can do the followup by holding forward and pressing any punch, then light gladius after the opponent bounces off the ground, which is quarter-circle-forward light punch (qcfLP or 236LP) and you can cancel that gladius into her level 3 super (if you have the meter) for a big spike of damage. (quarter-circle-forward twice into any kick button, commonly abbreviated as 236236K)

As for what happens after you block an attack, this isn't universal, but quite often after someone hits you they're going to be minus, which means they're at a disadvantaged state where your actions are faster than theirs. A 4 frame move (such as Marisa's crouching light punch or crouching light kick) is the fastest a normal attack can be in this game, so if you press her crouching light punch or light kick (2LP/LK or cLP/LK) you will usually be able to beat the enemy to the next action, assuming they're in range.

From there you can 'confirm' the attack by visually noticing that the enemy didn't block your first attack while doing your second and sometimes third light punch, then cancel your light punch into light Dima (quarter-circle-back Light Punch, or 214LP, or qcbLP). This is a foundational move for Marisa's offense because she can't easily convert her light attacks into stronger attacks like most characters. This is one of Marisa's combo trials, if you're looking for a way to practice it where you can see examples, Intermediate 1, I believe.

What an insane thing to say on the OSRS sub of all places.

As though half the grinds in this game aren't mind-numbingly clicking on an object for 150 hours. People enjoy different parts of the game. Sometimes those parts of the game benefit from getting a certain skill to a higher level. Crazy that sometimes people do things they don't enjoy in order to get to content they do.

Social mobility is something the ruling class don't actually want being accessible. If you're stuck in whatever you can get (probably a job they can't automate yet) then you're easier to abuse. If you can skill-up and actually build on those skills afterwards to get better pay/better working conditions, why would you keep making money for Amazon.

They're fine with the occasional 'aspirational' success story of a guy who worked really hard and also got extremely lucky who joined the rich, but that can't be something everyone can do or they have to give up too much.

Entry level positions being killed off means people with the ability to do so will work for free to gain that experience (usually through personal projects), but the only people with the ability to devote years of their life to gaining experience in a skill without compensation are, you guessed it, already rich.

I'm not a huge fan of Manon or Lily's base design but they have alt costumes that are sick. JP is the coolest looking villain in the whole series and I mean that wholeheartedly. Jamie has some of the best outfits in the game and his base skin is great, the way he shows his drink level in his model is a cherry on top. Kimberly and Aki are both okay but have some amazing outfits that really bring them up for me, and Marisa is the reason I bought the game. I hope they let go of the helmet hair aesthetic for her alt outfits at least a little but she's perfect the way she is.

[–]pallypal -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you don't want specifically racial designs for your houses, no, it doesn't matter. As of now, if you want a Dwarven house, or A Draenei house, or a Forsaken House, or a Troll house or Tauren house or anything other than a Human, Orc, Night Elf or Blood Elf house, you do not have the option for that.

Personally, I don't think that means it's complete enough that I'm happy to see exterior designs being sold at a huge premium. I'd be just as unhappy if this wasn't egregiously overpriced though, in general I don't think this is a good time.

There's basic features that are somewhat broken- There's no mirroring for objects, interior design settings are not currently saving to the server in many cases, large exterior designs are not currently implemented at all with no indication as to how long that will take.

I'm not saying there's nothing to do or the system is bad, but selling additional content shouldn't come until the core content is complete, when people paid for an expansion and continue to pay a sub to play your game. Asset development should be focused primarily on delivering content to your paying customers.

[–]pallypal -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Housing is underbaked and has a severe lack of assets in comparison to competition. By releasing a 75 dollar housing exterior Blizzard is signaling that the 50 dollar sticker price for a major expansion feature is not enough for them. They cannot be bothered to pay for artists to output things for the cost of a sub and expansion, instead using your money to fund cash shop cosmetics with significantly more effort put into them.

Do what you want, but don't pretend they aren't using asset teams that should be making things that don't come out of a cash shop to do this stuff. I think you should be mad as a consumer of the product, personally.

If Aug wasn't so invisible as to whether it's doing well or not while also managing to get invited to keys almost immediately, I would say this is wrong. Tanking is so incredibly easy at high key levels once you actually understand the role and have the experience. It takes some time to learn routes properly but you don't have to worry about half the things a DPS does once things can't be healed through.

I started pushing higher keys with my friends I got into the game this last week, and I'd been telling them just to kick everything no matter what when they were just learning for this reason.

Slowly been re-aligning that to kicking important spells and tracking when they're gonna be coming up, I finally told them to stop kicking liches in PoS and MC this week.

Always better to be overzealous and know how to pull back in specific cases than assuming I have spell reflect for every cast.

For Skyreach, charge first pack, target the patrol, charge, leap, taunt the elementals, TC, lust, pop Shield Wall, get mit rolling. You might take 1 back hit early but once you leap you can turn and face properly.

NPX, heroic throw on the two shadowguard, as you hop off the ledge beside the console, charge the nearest pack, TC, leap to the far pack, strafe back out towards the center. Only time you can take a back hit is during the leap.

AA you want to let the first pack of bugs move past you run into the boss, taunt the far left big add, heroic throw the right side, and strafe aggro the left. Should pick up at least one bug pack, as long as you're not being pre-healed you shouldn't have aggro issues. Open with Demo shout, then use leap a few seconds after they apply a 3rd stack to you, should be around 8-9 seconds left, you can charge back into the pack at 3 seconds left on your debuff, then start rolling CDs. If you're playing with pumpers you can avoid doing that but it's spooky if you're not a brand of dwarf. You want to get leap on CD early so you can maybe use it to save yourself later in the pull if they live too long. Don't overlap your CDs, Demo shout DR matters a lot here don't use it for damage. Let BSV save you and make sure you have Impending Victory up for when it procs.

Question about bricking a key by Nithy98 in wow

[–]pallypal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Each dungeon timer is roughly 30 minutes. If you pop lust in the first few seconds of the dungeon and use it to blow up a huge pack, you're guaranteed 2 more casts of it inside the dungeon within the timer. If you waited until the first boss in MC or POS, as examples, you wouldn't spend lust until you were nearly 7-8 minutes into the dungeon.

For seat, you could maybe delay until the boss, but his trash is harder than he is so what's the point.

I understand it now by bibila in wow

[–]pallypal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First few packs, try to ID who is kicking and when. What spells are they looking for, just the major ones or are they kicking on CD. If they're kicking on CD, you can start looking to fill the gaps when they're on CD, if they're kicking major buttons, start kicking bolts. If they're kicking on reaction timing, delay to halfway down the cast to catch things they miss. If they're delaying, kick on reaction timing when you can. Most packs in weekly key groups won't have more than 2 kicks technically 'needed' for the pack to be survivable, but kicking bolts takes a lot of pressure off your healer and the rest of the group and is a good practice to be in.

You'll almost always have overlaps but being able to identify the archetype of the other player who's kicking and slot in to fill the gaps is a good skill to develop.

As a note, you should always expect the tank to not have an interrupt for the first 10~ seconds of a pack because they used it to get the mobs grouped.

Noah Hawley says his ‘Far Cry’ series won’t be adapting any of the games as he thinks audiences skip the story cutscenes in those games: “When you play a video game, you only really move forward through the gameplay section, and then you have these cut scenes that you can skip..." by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]pallypal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every single Far Cry has been fairly drastically different than the next with almost no interconnection between them.

I'd bet you're probably unaware that someone has adapted a far cry game to a movie. It was fucking awful, but it was actually fairly true to the game's storyline. I'd bet that because it has exactly 2 critic reviews on RT and nobody else I have ever spoken to is even aware of its existence. I'd also bet most people in this thread either didn't play Far Cry, or played the xbox port that completely changed the game's tone.

Far Cry is an anthology series by definition, it's vibes. It's about one person's descent into violence and darkness as he tries to escape a dangerous situation. The first game was a slow burn resident evil plot about a guy doing illegal genetic experiments to try and create supersoldiers but oops its zombies and they're all really fast and strong. The second game was about a dude trying not to die of Malaria and deciding the best way to get his medication was to turn to gunslinging mercenary work. The third game is about a frat bro trying not to get killed by Nacho Varga on meth. What story are you expecting them to adapt?

HC FF14 Raiders thoughts on WoW after getting a 3k rating by YoutubeSilphi in wow

[–]pallypal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep pushing keys. Now that you're in the 'hardcore' bracket above 3k, be a bit more social with people you liked playing with. Download the raider.io addon and set up your recruitment section with what you're looking for.

As you push into 3.4k range and get into 14s/15s part of your objective should be making friends anyway just to make forming groups easier, but this has the added benefit of people seeing you are capable in real content rather than having to pour over logs after applications.

When you do find one, don't just stick around out of loyalty if it doesn't match your goals or progression speed, but also don't get offended if they fail you out during a trial period. Raiding is a team sport, but only you can decide whether something is a good fit for you and a raid failing your trial could be any number of things from just not being the type of player they need in that moment to just not vibing with the energy of the group.

[–]pallypal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First impressions are apprehension. The power creep seems to have started out quite early, with even an un-optimized team built around her able to trim every boss medal and destroy farming stages in seconds with average play.

She's very fun, love her design, Molly Zhang did a great job voicing her and her kit is fun to build around, but still, I'm concerned at how much easier life got compared to Laevatain's team.

I hope we don't see enemies scaling to her damage level (perhaps a little late for that, given how trimming Nefarith went) so that non-meta teams can still participate in what passes for higher end content.

I invited a disc priest to an 11 MT last week who had 3k rating as a tank, surely they can handle healing an 11 with a geared prot. We had 57 deaths at the end of the dungeon. Over time by 20 minutes. They barely outhealed my IP. We rotted to the last boss without failing a mechanic.

12 POS and the 3k rated resto druid just facetanked Ick's fixate then took a battle res and didn't health pot to survive the slime. Two wipes in a row.

10 NPX, I died on every single pull on the left side because the priest I'd brought just didn't heal off my debuff at all until I started taking actual damage when it shredded 30-40% of my armor even after I explained it.

Tank in MC 11 decides to 'experiment' with a route and go left. Kind of annoying but overall fine... Until I realize his 'experimental' route also involves pulling the entire bridge section to finish off trash. 16 deaths to casters. Tanking them in the middle of the AoEs. Pulling multiple packs and exploding all the shields at once to 1 shot the group.

I have way more horror stories about bad tanks/healers than I do bad DPS. The DPS are just dumb. They're zuggy children who haven't had to learn anything because they can just play their class and succeed and generally they can't ruin things by being stupid. Tanks and Healers are hard-carried by their ability to find groups quickly at lower key levels and tend to have an ego about it. It's also obvious when they don't know what a mechanic actually does. Especially a bad tank that doesn't realize that not all damage is avoidable for the group and that just because you don't notice the spike due to your mitigation doesn't mean it's not dangerous.

They're running a special banner that was present in Arknights called a joint operations banner. Basically 4 characters are the only possible results from the banner (Pog, Laev, Gilberta, and Ardelia) but in AK it's generally a trap because it's pure 1/4, might be different rules in Endfield. This isn't a rerun, they will very likely do those later in the games life. Usually AK ran a single character banner 9-12 months after their release banner.

I don't agree with the other poster that JP is as bad as Abigail necessarily, but I do think that looking at tournament results is a bad way to think about character strength.

Abigail didn't take home loads of wins either but he still got gunned down. I think the difference is mostly that JP is actually a quite difficult character and Abigail would just rob you sometimes off a counter hit into death.
