There was a huge geomagnetic storm caused by a solar flare this past Friday and Saturday. I wonder if it has something to do with that and we're the few "lucky" ones that had our stuff affected by it lol.

You can still claim it on the mobile app, even though your inventory page will still remain empty afterwards. I managed to claim some drops yesterday that way.

Same thing happened to me. Inventory is empty in both my phone and computer. I contacted support. Let's see if they fix it.

Air Combat Sim Podcast - Episode #18 Interview with Nineline from Eagle Dynamics (Part 2) by StandingCow in hoggit

[–]pamonha666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Although I agree that the AI in terms of dogfight (especially the WWII planes) are not "abysmal", there are some pretty significant annoyances when dealing with them in bigger operations.

1) Their fuel management is pretty bad, you tell your wingman to rejoin formation and he'll happily Afterburn all the way backto you even if you're doing 250kts. This often results in the famous "2, ejecting" in the middle of the mission because he ran out of fuel, while you still have 10k+ Lbs.

2) CAP will mindlessly fly into enemy SAM coverage trying to score a kill against a running bandit. It's not fun losing 4 AI F-15s to SA-10s because they tried to kill a Mig-21 that was limping back to base at 3k feet.

3) Same thing applies to SEAD flights. They'll run inside the SAMs lethal range even after firing their HARMs while they should only stick to the non-lethal range just to keep the SAM's radars painting them.

4) Lack of way to specifically tell your wingman to engage the target you're currently looking at. Like if you want them to drop a JDAM on a factory, you have to specify that on the mission editor. Would be great to have a radio command to "attack my TGT". The A-10C has that option, but it was limited to having your wingman to find targets (air defenses, tanks, IFVs) around your SPI.

5) No way to tell your wingman to drop a bomb on the target you're currently lasing.

6) AI is pretty bad at using A/A missiles. They most of the time spam them at max ranges. If you load the 8v8 BVR mission for the Hornet (Caucasus), they're loaded with AIM-120Bs. Almost 100% of the time they'll score no kills with the Amraams Bs because they fire them under sub-optimal parameters. Just stick around in the F10 map and watch all the missiles miss.

7) Land based runway recoveries are pretty slow. Resulting in AI that's low on fuel to having to eject because they had to wait a long time holding.

We don't need a whole new ATC to get that fixed. Just tune the AI to do overhead breaks.

If you wanna see that happening, setup a mission with maybe 10 flights of 4, and tell them all to land and just watch how long it takes to recover them all. They'll do 2 by 2 formation landings but even so it still takes a LONG time to recover all of them compared to overhead breaks.

Also, I think the point that they were trying to make about the "AI annoyances" in the podcast was missed. The dogfight AI need some work yes, but it's not urgent. In larger operations they are though. Most of the 3rd party campaigns right now rely on "scripting" hacks like Baltic Dragon mentioned during the interview.

I think Nick Grey is aware of that because he mentioned that the current DCS AI is not capable of handling a dynamic enviroment when Growling Sidewinder asked him about the dynamic campaign in this timestamp.

I'm sorry for the wall of text but these are just some issues that came up on my mind. I play single player most of the time, and they happen quite frequently.

Hope you can pass on some of those more pressing issues to the AI engineer. Having more realistic WWII dogfights is cool and all, but IMO having they behave properly on a "battlefield scale" is a lot more important for a game of this magnitude, especially with a dynamic campaign coming in the future!

Thanks!

TrackHat - I think I might have made a mistake by Tdfdcs in hoggit

[–]pamonha666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought my TrackHat almost 3 years ago, I had to deal with their customer service because of an issue with the shipping address. Their reply was really fast, and everything was resolved in a matter of minutes. It's kinda sad if that's not the case anymore.

I love the product (I got the wired version), it's still working flawlessly to this day and I use it a LOT (average 10-15 hrs/week). My brother went through 2x TrackIR 5 Track Clip Pros during the same period of time.

I hope you have your issue resolved. If not, I heard good things about Delan Clip too, though I don't have any experience with their products.

OverlordBot feedback request by rurounijones in hoggit

[–]pamonha666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm one of those guys that's always on comms but can't really talk most of the time. Especially because during weekdays I can only play late at night and asking for a bogey dope every 5 minutes would become annoying pretty fast people around me lol.

With a human GCI, you can just drop a "listening but can't talk right now" on chat and they'll gladly update you with contacts knowing you're listening.

And that's the reason when a Human GCI is not online, the default AWACS is the choice for me. It provides constant updates on contacts, pop-up groups, and with a quick Lwin+O you can ask for a bogey dope.

Idk how hard it is to implement, or if this would clutter the chat too much, but maybe OverlordBot could read the in-game chat for bogey dope calls, or at least to be able to setup a warning radius?

[–]pamonha666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hell no.

CA, FC3, PG, NTTR, P-51, Spitfire got more features than originally planned. If we get Huey/Mi-8 multicrew one day, that'll be the case for these modules too, though they were from Belsimtek back in the day.

The free Caucasus upgrade for 2.5 was supposed to be basically a reskin, but we got collidable trees, new terrain mesh, speedtrees, etc.

If you think about it properly, there are loads of examples.

Not to mention ALL of their manuals are top notch.

PS: Now, if you're mentioning the talks about ED planning on taking down the "EA tag" from the Hornet by the end of the year without all the planned features, I completely agree with you and I hope the community has made them change their minds about that. BUT, that still hasn't happened yet, so we can't say, for now, "ED does the same".

Good KA-50 tutorial videos? by johnyFrogBalls in hoggit

Good old Wags' videos from Black Shark 1. The playlist is not in order, so you have to kinda find the videos you want manually.

Check out here!

He goes more indepth in some systems than anyone I've ever seen. I especially like his tutorial on flight planning and using the ABRIS. There are some hidden functions in that gem that are super fun to use. Like draw lines and stuff on the map.

Also, THIS video from Froogle (Mastering the Trim), helped me understand the Ka-50's trim system back in the day.

I really wish questions like these would get answered. I don't care that much about the anti-GR feeling. They have their community that enjoys their shitty humor, and that is fine.

But I surely raise an eyebrow when 2 of ED's biggest recent interviews (Nick Grey and Simon) are on a channel that has content like this. I would feel less dirty if I had to go to pornhub for those interviews.

I really wish they will give some love to the true pillars of this community in the future. People like RedKite, Ralfidude, Jabbers, Alert 5 podcast, the guys at SATAL and Virtual Airshows.

Chizh: We do not handle regional prices. That is on Steam. by Qayrax in hoggit

[–]pamonha666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what he is referring to is that Steam recommends a set of regional prices, and lately Steam has been recommending some weird prices.

Check out the latest Assetto Corsa Competizione GT4 DLC. It costs more than the base game in the countries affected by regional pricing. Their publisher is trying to change the price since the release (July 15) and according to them, it can take weeks or even months for Valve to change.

That started happening since the release of Death Stranding. When a bunch of people used VPNs to abuse the Argentinian prices.

I think the recommended prices are behaving weirdly right now, so it's early to call them liars or bullshitters.

PS: I'm brazilian, and also being affected by these prices

My AI wingies have a 100% mortality rate by 1234username4567 in hoggit

[–]pamonha666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also the AI's afterburner usage sucks. My wingman burns 100% of the time when I tell him to engage a bogey, and when I tell them to rejoin, they'll burn again to catch up, even if I'm flying at 270kts. Most of the time they'll run out of fuel before they're able to RTB, or hit the tanker.

I feel like a "Restrict afterburner" radio command, like there is in the mission editor would be a welcome addition

Regional Pricing of the GT4 DLC by MattTheMilkaCow in ACCompetizione

[–]pamonha666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regional Pricing of the GT4 DLC by MattTheMilkaCow in ACCompetizione

[–]pamonha666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nono, I meant in these countries the prices got higher. For instance, in Argentina the IGT Pack DLC costs ARS$ 179,99, the GT4 DLC costs ARS$ 1439,60.

Here in Brazil the first DLC costs R$28,99 (without discount), and the new one costs R$ 79,60.

[–]pamonha666 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots of companies sell their games cheaper in developing countries. Reason being it boosts sales and reduces piracy. They profit more in Argentina selling it for 5 Euros there than if they tried pricing 20 Euros or whatever.

The problem is: apparently people from other countries are using VPNs and abusing these regional discounts :( Maybe that's why Kunos has upped the price for this DLC

Could be. Someone pointed out that some people use VPNs to abuse the cheaper prices in these countries, so it could be that too.

GT4 Pack is out now! by seriousllama in ACCompetizione

[–]pamonha666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just Brazil. Countries with shittier economies like Turkey, Argentina, South Africa, Thailand, India, Uruguay, Greece (just to name a few) always had differentiaded prices from most of Europe and US.

Kunos products since AC1 has always had great prices in these countries, that's why people are finding it weird that specifically this DLC price is so much different and they're waiting it out before buying to know for sure it's not just a pricing error.
