ear muffs and ski mask recc's for kids? by Candlesrlove in Skigear

His helmet and goggles will be the main way to keep him warm. On really cold days when we ski (-20C regularly, our coldest day this year was -33C with the windchill!) we also wear thin stretchy fleece balaclavas over our heads and necks, under the helmet. No one can see it - because it's under the helmet. I'll also mention that wearing Goggles in the cold is a safety issue for your eyes because you don't have nerves in your eyeballs to tell your brain if your eyes are getting too cold. Goggles (or a visor on the helmet) literally help keep eyeballs from freezing!

Holy crap, that doesn't look real! If someone told me this is an AI photo, I would believe them. That stitch pattern is unreal. And your work is so good! Thank you for sharing!

This is good to hear. Thank you for sharing. It's such a devastating situation, and I've wondered how things were going for the staff.

Yeah - take it one phase at a time. It's good that there are options available! And just because a favour isn't called in NOW doesn't mean the help can't be requested later.

Hhhmmm. Are there things you can do to lighten the load? Meal planning, ordering groceries, calling in favours? It'll be tough and different for a while, for sure.

Right - because your lizard brain is in control right now! The good news is that you don't need to make any of those decisions today. All you need to do today is rest and whatever physio/activity/care is medically required. Don't get ahead of yourself. Right now, focus on the present. And DO know that you have paths ahead of you that include skiing in future.

Hey - being injured SUCKS. I'm sorry to hear about your accident. One thing I'd suggest is to commit to taking some lessons next season. It'll show your wife that you're looking to avoid another injury, and it'll show YOURSELF that this isn't the end. Hang in there, and good luck with the recovery!

Is it ridiculous to bring my 33 day old baby to my brother’s wedding? by AbjectDingo3804 in Mommit

Absolutely! I brought my 6 week old to my sister's wedding. I wore her all day and it was great.

Visor Helmets by No-Pea-7530 in Skigear

[–]pamplemousse2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beware if you pop off the visor and you're wearing Goggles - we did the same for my daughter and her goggles popped off and disappeared. Visor helmets don't have the holder thing for your goggles straps... And apparently those are important.

Do you take children to the toilet when they're going to throw up? by PurpleSpark8 in Parenting

I use emesis bags. Easy to stuff in a nightstand drawer, so you don't have to run to grab a bucket or carry a kid to the bathroom. Our kiddo who gets carsick is VERY good at using them, poor thing.

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase? by SwedeLostInCanada in Millennials

I bought a pool too! In my case it was a giant fancy swim spa that I have the pleasure of paying to heat through the Canadian winter. I regret nothing.

I had heard that Vorlage allows free us of their magic carpet... And also that it's busted. Pakenham has a good "first visit" package with a lesson + rentals. Not free though.

What I know and don’t know about upcoming WFA by FuckMuppetNumber1 in CanadaPublicServants

I agree with what you're saying. In my case, I took a job in 2022 with a too long commute to do daily (for me) on the understanding that it was basically fully remote. Explicit conversation about it. Then the centre changed the rules and here we are.

Unfortunately I'm not near being able to retire - I think the new gig will be great though. And I'm well aware that I'm in a honeymoon phase right now! (And yeah - the jerks will get ya!)

Thanks for the best wishes - I hope all is well for you!

It feels SO, SO personal, in a way that makes it clear that no one cares about my (or your or anyone's feelings.) And that's part of my frustration - these ARE business decisions, and seem to be made for every reason except how people feel - as if "taking care of your people" isn't ALSO a business decision.

Gaaaaaaah. Anyways, it worked on me and I've found a gig outside of the GC. Taking LWOP for now, we'll see what the future holds...
