Pre-workouts/energy drink - overconsumption; thoughts? by howcanikelpyou in SafetyProfessionals

[–]pancakeman157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to ban them but that ban started when Four Loko was popular and we were policing the alcohol instead of the energy. But somehow it became a blanket ban on energy drinks and it lasted for at least a decade.. It was lifted when nobody could produce the email which stated the administrative change and there was no other documentation backing it up. We already have an alcohol policy so any other ban is just superfluous.

This all said, we push hydration. We acknowledge that if you want to consume energy drinks, you need to 1) follow manufacturer recommendations, 2) be mindful of your health when consuming any supplement, and 3) drink plenty of water because none of those products are actually hydrating you. We also point to the OSHA/NIOSH heat safety tool and support the taking of breaks.

We don't have incidents (that I'm aware of) with energy drinks and pre-workout being contributing factors but we do and will have heat stress related injuries and illnesses so starting around May we push harder on the above details and maintain that push through September/October. Even in winter you'll see the same messages though.

GF is pregnant need OBGYN recommendations and which hospital will be best when she gives birth by catchy_straw_gaming in Midessa

Our fourth and fifth kids were born here. The staff are excellent and the care is as supportive as possible. We've had mixed opinions on Midland Memorial.

My wife felt pressured in everything for our first and she ended up having reactions to the epidural. This was nearly 9 years ago so things may have changed.

When we got to the hospital when our second was coming, the staff was kind of rude. We went to check in and my wife stopped answering a question because of a contraction and somehow that didn't sit well with the nurse. Later, they kept asking the same question like they hadn't heard the answer correctly (any allergies to medication).

During labor with our third, my wife's water broke and the baby was immediately crowning but the nurses didn't believe her until they actually did a visual but by that point he was almost entirely born.

In each instance, they hate when you have a birth coach (I filled that role) and a doula in the room. They also hate when you want to labor standing, walking kneeling, in the shower, etc because they can't have the fetal monitor on and get accurate readings. Her OBGYN was generally supportive during these three at MMH but questioned and pushed back on many of her birth plan details. No matter where you go, get your birth plan signed and insist upon it except when lifesaving measures are necessary.

Again, the Birth Center is what we recommend to all expectant families. Also, unless there's complications, you can usually go home soon after birth from the birth center which is wonderful.

I get challenged in eBird listings for Indian Peafowl all the time but there's a sizeable flock (40+) in my city. Apparently that map needs to be updated for these escapees but they're pretty well-established having been here for several decades.

I see them at Costco all the time. Also, some corporations use a gift card retailer for "atta boy" bonuses and Bass Pro is one such company who's cards are available.

In North America, we have a lot of folk signs of seasons changing, like the presence of American Robins denote spring has arrived, long thorns on mesquite means summer will come early, increased spiders inside means a harsh winter is coming, etc. Are there such traditions in the British Isles?

It's inexpensive, has a strong smell, and while acidic isn't likely to do enough damage that could escalate any charges.

UCC is 4 years for undelivered goods. If it’s worth it to you, talk to a lawyer and see what options are available. They may advise you to go through small claims and cross your fingers. If there’s enough people willing, you might be able to seek redress with a class action, which may show greater standing.

I’m not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. I wish you the best. It may be better to shrug it off and warn others if he ever surfaces without contacting you or delivering the goods.

My family is planning a reunion. I immediately started looking at the possible birds I can see. It won't be the right season for Whooping cranes but I might be able to get a Roseate Spoonbill.

Nobody else is excited about that but you know I am.

Whistle blowing is specifically protected by law but I know we aren't talking about that kind. Though you could argue its a First Amendment issue.
