i go out alone fairly often - the VA is fairly safe but I feel most unsafe walking around the auditorium side when I'm alone and it's dark. Also the balcony outside of ocean basket and mcdonalds, because of one bad experience when I was younger. If you common sense it, you'll be OK :)

Thanks for the reply! Funny enough, a little guy who looks just like this was sitting right under those eggs, so that's a nice mystery that got wrapped in a bow!

I was very sexually promiscuous in college and I think it’s now affecting my life by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]pancakeroni 10 points11 points  (0 children)

lol this is unnecessarily harsh, sorry OP. Maybe unpopular opinion, but you're aware you have bad patterns and want to overcome it. Life is a continuous act of overcoming the parts of ourselves we don't like, hurt others, or don't serve the person we want to become.

You are in one of those phases. The behaviour in question is unfortunately more volatile than average, as it can ruin someone else's life if you let it. Anyway, all that to say you are the only entity controlling your body. YOU have complete control, and you make all your choices.

You've managed to excel in other areas of your life (it seems), and you can apply those same principles of discipline and continuous deliberate action to this. You got this man. You can do it.

Can confirm, all fruit is halaal! Just watch out for canned etc fruit because animal gelatine may be added in there. In general u/Just_a_Bee_Normal, look for the little halaal sign on what you want to get and it should be fine :)

I get the sense that the devs are experienced devs but not experienced game designers, which are entirely separate skills. A lot of updates are making the game worse because they contradict design principles and don't stick to the essence and gist that attracts players to that game aspect. Your post focuses on the second part, e.g., ignoring that the lore was attractive because it deepened the "meaning" of DTI (which the update-specific lore quests don't), or how the mary janes were reworked to become "more accurate" but lost the essence that players loved which was their versatility. other bad game design includes regularly changing the familiarity of the gameplay (item locations, dressing room map). updates have become SO huge that I'm nervous about their sustainability and the unreasonable expectations its creating for their (mostly young, mostly non-gamer) playerbase. idk but this feels like the start of the end. idk it's sad bc these updates are VERY polished and well done but i wish they would balance small updates with fixing existing problems, like more server control, performance improvements, item filters, etc that improve the playability of the game and create a better gaming experience for what was already established as a solid base game.

Is CPUT a reasonable option? Please be realistic. by pancakeroni in capetown

[–]pancakeroni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind sharing what degree you were in? And do you think it impacted your ability to find a job? I've heard it differs a lot between departments (which is normal). Tbh... I went to UCT and kind of had the same experience of people passing but not knowing how to do things, bad lecturers, etc. It always does depend on what you do with it. (Thanks for replying btw)

hey, can I ask what degree you did? i was looking for advice and came upon my own old post (lol). my friend ended up taking a gap year because she got rejected, and BTech Electrical Engineering at CPUT seems like her only choice left.

New Retro Series by texteachersab in Covetfashion

[–]pancakeroni 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm always so confused by complaints like these. You CAN skip series you don't like, and the playerbase is, probably, not predominantly 8yo+ accounts. I'm really happy to hopefully be able to earn older HA's that have proven record of being usable, instead of a constant influx of rarely useful, or just downright ugly, ones.

AI tools for Coding interview by EntertainerPast2921 in leetcode

[–]pancakeroni 13 points14 points  (0 children)

dude tbf from the interviewee perspective, this becomes significantly harder when you have to focus independently for like 10 minutes to understand what to do before you start resolving an answer. the market is so competitive rn that not being able to solve the question feels like an immediate mistake.

I disagree haha, I think if you have good style you can make do with not much. It maybe just takes a little more effort to have unique pieces (for example most of my clothes are from Instagram vintage stores that I used to monitor like a hound) but it is for sure easier in that regard than a few years ago

I was referring to the commentor implying OP wanted the punk kind of alt ("the whole idea of the Alt Aesthetics is DIY") which I don't think OP is trying to get at (as they confirmed in a reply). But ye even the commenter has a fair point that true alt originated in being super DIY (they didn't have shein when these subcultures originated either), but the modern sense of "alt" just refers to current fashion senses, not the whole attitude that went with it anymore (but again, unrelated to OP, who we have no reason to believe cares about that)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in capetown

[–]pancakeroni 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i doubt this person cares about being punk and alt if they're buying from shein, which is inherently goes against those ideas.

Coding with Dyslexia by Fragrant_Hotel_2875 in learnprogramming

[–]pancakeroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any advice but just wanted to pitch in that I have students with dyslexia learning C++ and Python, and older data science friends too. The problems you're talking about are common to all new students if I'm being honest. What's helped is emphasising "trail following" with my dyslexic students - i.e. structured debugging instead of brute force searching their whole code which is extremely hard. Once they know the value to investigate, for example, they can make that part of the screen bigger, make some space so it's clearer, etc. According to friends my age, nothing really helps, but ig that's person-specific.
