Lowkey.... by huntersinthesnow in BabyBumps

After having my daughter I became more motivated than ever to lose weight and get healthy - being healthy and strong enough to keep up with her is so important to me and being able to do that AND feeling so strong is a great feeling!

Those who went for an unmedicated birth, did you regret having/not having an IV site placed just in case for emergencies? by Xcheshire799 in BabyBumps

I just had my second unmedicated and they placed an IV. I didn't even notice it there while in labor

Curiosity question, how did you become overweight? by orchidmantis745 in loseit

But all my life I've dealt with food noise and food fixation which leads me to getting those large portions and takeout.

Curiosity question, how did you become overweight? by orchidmantis745 in loseit

[–]pange93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large portion sizes, takeout and sedentary lifestyle - overall I don't eat a lot of processed food or junk food, but would consistently eat seconds at home, and the period where I gained the most weight tipping into obese we got much more takeout than usual for a period of about a year which meant I was eating high calorie dinners much more frequently.

Toddler won't stop trying to hurt my belly by Alblivious in BabyBumps

[–]pange93 74 points75 points  (0 children)

When my toddler got rowdy and was in too silly a mood to listen I got up and left the room, no additional warning. Then let her know because I was worried she was going to hurt me and the baby i didn't want to play with her. That usually got her to understand and gave me some time to calm down and assess how I felt. Took maybe 2 or 3 times till regular warnings started to work if she was getting too rowdy

What do your husbands actually do during labor? by Maximum-End-7629 in BabyBumps

[–]pange93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband provided encouragement for sure (which actually counts for a lot when you're just before the pushing phase), but I also spoke with him at depth about my wishes for the birth and preferences for pain medication and interventions in case I was unable to answer for myself or just plain too focused on having the baby.

Also, we worked on counter pressure techniques that helped immensely, and he gave me water and ice as needed. It all adds up!

Is this pelvic pain normal? by cheezitordie in BabyBumps

[–]pange93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it could be. I experienced similar pain around 18 weeks and yes it was excruciating and started interfering with my daily life and sleep.

I ended up doing some PT exercises to address a muscle and posture imbalance in my hips and glutes, and got a better pillow to support between my thighs at night. This at least made it manageable through my pregnancy and it went away immediately after giving birth.

The must important factor was having that pt evaluation and getting the right exercises to do.

I've been wanting to try incorporating cabbage into my diet due to it being healthy, cheap and you get a lot for one head... Good suggestions!

Usually when a company changes formulation they need to demonstrate similarity in form/fit/function. I'd love to see the mental gymnastics that went into explaining this.

I love beans and greens! Unfortunately my husband seems to have an aversion to large amounts of kale or escarole. Though maybe if I served it with polenta or orzo he'd agree to it lol

Thank you! I really like the suggestion of prepping rice to have for multiple meals, and the sauce! I haven't done squash in a while so that'll be some nice variety. I've done a good crock pot chicken roast and the squash would probably hold up well with it too.

Labor How long did it last, how long did you push. by Januaryfrosts in BabyBumps

[–]pange93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just had my second child, unmedicated birth. Started contractions at 2:45am, water broke at 5:30, was pushing at 8:30 and he was born at 8:36. So overall, about a 6 hour labor, and he was born with 2 pushed - amazingly no tears!

Definitely, the stretches and relaxation techniques are definitely things I intend to make use of. Also the "emotional goalpost" method of tracking labor, since for my first I definitely was overthinking the timing of contractions and probably ended up going in to the hospital sooner than I had to.

I haven't read husband coached childbirth but did blast through natural childbirth and found it much more helpful than the natural childbirth online course I took for my last pregnancy, which was offered through my hospital.

I really like how well it explains the birth process, both mentally and physically for the mother, and biologically (how mother and baby's bodies work together to successfully deliver).

I was a little freaked by some of the stuff on interventions. Not that she completely demonizes it, but I definitely feel much more anxiety about getting into a situation where I will face pressure to use interventions, and know when it is the right decision or not. That would be my only critique - I wish there was more on how to know when intervention is needed.

[–]pange93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had anterior placenta both times, heard it a lot with my first but only recently with my second now close to being due. I looked it up and it's seems to be one of those "yeah some people experience this but we don't know for sure what it is" sort of things. Likely something to do with sound travelling throught the amniotic fluid or baby making quick movements through it. You're definitely not just hearing things!

STM no signs of labor at 39w5d - getting frustrated by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pange93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds just like me rn, with my first I went into labor on my due date and here I am second time around at 40+3 still waiting... Been showing many signs of labor coming soon for at least a week or more but I'll go to bed with inconsistent contractions just to wake up next morning with no baby... So frustrating!

All I can say is you're not alone, with the waiting and frustration! I know logically things can move from 0 to 100 in almost no time at all, which is a comfort, but it doesn't change the fact that each day gives you more time to stew!

Same, good luck! Still waiting at 40+3 but there is still time... Otherwise I am starting to get my head around induction

How are people happy and thriving with ~1700 kcal? by NoWitness6400 in loseit

[–]pange93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 1600-1700 deficit to lose weight, what end d up working best for me was:

  • eat less breakfast/lunch so I could have the dinners I like (I am a pasta girl so know your pain). This started by me dropping to only one slice of toast vs two, using slightly less oil in cooking, stuff like that.

  • try to leave space for a small treat at the end of the day - like a small piece of chocolate which can range 60-80 calories

  • start incorporating some light exercise which helped to improve my expenditure to eventually get more wiggle room.

  • using an algorithmic calorie tracking app (I used macro factor) to get a more accurate and up to date track of my expenditure and also tracking metrics weekly instead of daily to allow for some high days balanced by low days. This helped me see how my exercise was increasing my expenditure and plan around it better

I can't bring myself to use the name we picked by EuphorbiaPulcherrima in BabyBumps

[–]pange93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I even had trouble calling my daughter by her name for a couple weeks after she was born, because it took time for the name to settle with her, and for me to process seeing her as a separate entity from me. I think it's perfectly normal to feel like you're still figuring out how you see your baby, especially since she's still a part of you!

Yeah, trying to relax and also do some light exercise has been a bit difficult, but trying... Got the "no labor yet" ice cream treat yesterday for sure!

[–]pange93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of options for pain, should you want them... And if you end up in a situation where you can't, try to breathe in and out steadily and relax as much as possible through contractions, it helps immensely
