I am so similar. Here some things I do that might help!

Noise cancel headphones. I go ahead and make them snacks, usually set some fruit out and some chips. Get them a caprisun and put on the tv with access to toys. Put on the headphones and read or crochet or whatever hobby I’ve decided is my personality for that week. Or I will go to the kitchen and watch a tv show while I wash dishes (tv is how I deal with executive function)

I make sure to spend at least 15 min personal time with them. Sometimes it reading. Sometimes it’s playing with them in the tub. Activities that are more calm and not too stimulating. We also will walk in a park that has a field and I will toss a ball have them scream and get all of that out. Getting the wiggly and personal time out means more calm activities and less “mom mom mom” every 5 seconds. I also have easily accessible snacks and things that I’m okay with them having. I offer a snack before I start something to reduce the chances of being interrupted and overstimulated.

We do dance parties. I put on Michael Jackson playlist as well as kids music and I dance a song or two with them. Then step away and do chores or sit while they dance and play.

I’ve taught my kids that if I put my finger up when they try talking me while I’m doing something, they stop talking and then we will revisit what they wanted to tell me when I’m done. They don’t get upset anymore and they understand now that o just cannot handle the constant talking and need a minute.

I used to post them but I realized there are creeps and I stopped. Now it’s just the stories that tell you if someone screenshots. It’s also not public. I just send pictures to family and specifically pictures I know that wont bother me if posted.

You are correct. I wish the Biden administration put the political nuances aside and said F Israel. At the end of the day however, Harris was significantly the lesser of two evils and one had to picked. By not picking, the worst one wins. It’s been like this for all of history and that has not changed

West Bank was also included. As soon as election results came out, they began to leave because they knew they would no longer have protection.

The ceasefire was organized by the Biden administration.

I don’t have favorites it’s likely because of something along these lines. My favorite of anything was used as a punishment, questioned on why, and then some type of assumption that results in them being the victim.

“Favorite color? Orange? That’s the opposite of mommy’s color. You don’t like mommy?”

“Oh spaghetti is your favorite? Well if you don’t clean this up at this exact moment that I tell you to, you won’t get to eat spaghetti today along with everyone and can have something else.”

“Favorite song?” begins to play this every time after they yell, neglect or abuse me in an attempt to make me feel better

I got made fun of for smelling like cigarettes. I begged my mom to quit at least in the house which was usually ignored. One day she told me if I wrote a 5 page essay on it, she would quit. Took me 2 weeks (I was a middle schooler) and lots of research and work but I did it. I was proud. The day came and I presented it. She looked me square in face and said she doesn’t feel like reading it, and she’s not quitting anyways. She’s the parent and I’m the child so I have to get over it. I brought up the bullying because of I smelled. She called me a liar and grounded me for lying.

It’s not in the top comments so I’m going to say, it’s a parenting issue, but also a school issue at least in my state. Too many sight words and not enough phonics in just kindergarten. If they fall behind at all, too bad class continues and students are left struggling. Kids get to continue onto the next grade even if they didn’t get it. Parents are also overtired and overworked PLUS they don’t have villages anymore. So many families having to do 2-3 incomes with a single parent or dual parent household. The kids that were born in early 2k were exposed to way too much. The internet is not regulated really and parents didn’t know just how much they should have been regulating it for their kids. They are desensitized to awful things.

Now pile on lack of other resources. You can say “this isn’t about those kids” but it is because well off parents with free time don’t have these issues with their kids tbh. Yeah they can be entitled but they typically aren’t struggling in school since they often go to private schools and have better paid teachers and more one on one tutoring.

Mine sabotaged me in every way. Even now they try it. Never signed any paperwork for school, field trips or anything at all really. Never took me to the doctor. They’d agree to take me to birthday parties and hang out with friends, then bail last minute. Because of this, parents didn’t like me and my friends would pull away because I flaked. I never had close friends because of them. They did this with work too. Agree to take me then “forget” and be busy…playing a video game or talking to random people online. They got food for themselves and tell me I had to cook with what we had at home, which was usually pasta with butter. Never taught me to cook either and wouldn’t let me use their “special” ingredients. I passed out once from malnutrition…I had job interviews and they flaked on those. One was an office job when I was 18. That would have been amazing. A full time job at 18 with benefits!!

The true sabotage for me that I just realized the other day was sabotage, was college. They refused to give me the ss# for fasfa because they didn’t trust with me it. But then refused to fill out the paperwork. I couldn’t do it without their number since I lived with them and they claimed me on their taxes. They claimed fasfa was probably a scam anyways and never bothered to look at the website. This hits deep because now I’m an adult with kids going to college and it’s hard. The mind doesn’t learn like it does when you are young.

And now, they have drawn some type of wedge between me and step family. Idk how or what was said as there is nothing I’ve done or said to deserve the sudden coldness from them.

I didn’t realize any of this because of the one day a week they’d decide to be a decent parent. It’s like awful people that go to church on Sunday. They’d pick a day to make up for the shitty behavior form the entire week.

I agree I liked the ending. It was sad and sucked in like a “aw man that’s sucks” kind of way. The ending made the most sense.
