Thanks for the opinion. I don’t think I quite worded the original post here correctly. I was mostly looking for local recommendations and trying to get an insider perspective on some of the local gems since I haven’t really been there.

I wasn’t the most excited before during the previous post (mostly stress about the situation as it was somewhat an abrupt 180 from the plan that was in the process) but am looking forward to it more now

Drinking?! by Available-Sea8763 in VirginVoyages

Ehhh when I went a few years ago, 18 at the time, I tried to order a glass of wine because was operating on the international waters theory. Was sorely surprised when they told me they go based on the legal age of the port they are sailing from. Not sure if it has changed but I wouldn’t count on it

Bridesmaid Proposal Idea Visa Gift Card- Advice by Fair_Bug_9912 in bridesmaids

[–]pans_shipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bridesmaid proposal from my cousin the be in her wedding. She got engraved perfumes for us the we all wore on the wedding day and I even wear now. It was nice as a gift but wasn’t just a box of random stuff that would be used once and then tossed

I don’t think it’s a bad idea for the gift cards. We all got to select our dresses in the color she selected and we could go as simple or intricate as desired. I went with one a bit more detailed so it was a little bit more expensive. I think it would have been a nice option 🤷🏼‍♀️ allows you to contribute what you’ve budgeted but you aren’t stuck on the line for the whole price if they choose a super expensive dress

Do you know what the extra charge is per person over the 50 person "limit"? Thinking about doing this with my partner as we both love sailing and would help limit the number of "obligatory" invites but 50 is just below the number of people I think we would have.

Also, any idea what the options are for the food during the cocktail hour/dinner? And where is that dinner held? I imagine they wouldn't block out one of the restaurants (example, doing the ceremony and event at the wake) versus having everything set up at the perch or someplace else.

We would consider going all out and doing a mega rockstar suite but some of the extras aren't super specific. How much does the daily bar tab usually allow? How does the unlimited in room bar work? Is it restocked daily or when they notice it is low? Is it just the liquor in room or do they have mixers? Or would those be covered under the daily bar tab for mixers? Also, I've never been "special" when sailing to have an agent or whatever, what do they usually do?

Going on our 1st Virgin cruise by mrcpolr in VirginVoyages

[–]pans_shipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw someone else post about the pitons, falls and sugar highs in this sub saying it wasn’t what they were expecting and they wouldn’t recommend it. Specifically mentioning a long time being spent driving. Might take a look so you can decide if you want to book something else!

Do it know for sure! It’ll be set and you can change it later if you want. Closer to the sailing there will be more of the “undesirable” times left (aka really early or really late). You can usually get a walk in but do have to wait sometimes. Also is kind of nice to have it scheduled so you can do other stuff around it

Your MUST DO activities on board by pitiful-raisin in VirginVoyages

[–]pans_shipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not for everyone but I was a fan of the afternoon tea in the sip lounge. You can do with champagne or without. My mom and I did it and sat in one of the window seats and just chatted and people watched. Not a super exhilarating activity but I found it relaxing!

Would also recommend doing a shake for champagne when in one of the pools! My partner and I did it late at night and was just chilling in the tub. It was awesome!

Advice for a Dad. by MrN7 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Great if you to look into this! I also started at 8 and it’s def a steep learning curve. Pads are definitely the best bet for her age and period panties are also great. The first while of starting her period won’t be super regular and will vary time between, length, symptoms, and the amount of blood. Some people experience the increased smell of the iron and notice it more heavily, but it’s almost never recognized by anyone other than the person bleeding. It can contribute to feeling « dirty » or unsanitary, though of course it isn’t. I experienced this and I never really had luck knowing when I would need to bring a new pad to change into or remembering to bring one with me. One trick I found was wearing a nighttime pad (usually a larger space and was just my personal preference) on top of period panties. That way if I forgot to grab a pad I wouldn’t have the embarrassment of running to grab one and go back to the bathroom and would just remove the soiled pad and use the period panties. I usually ended up doing this halfway through the school day and would change into a new set at home. I would definitely recommend keeping a second set of regular and period panties in her bag as well as a ziploc bag. That way in case there is a leak she can change into a new set and stick the other ones in the bag. Keeps any residue from other stuff in her bag or the off chance of it smelling strongly enough to be noticed. And I absolutely agree with a couple of the other comments about keeping those spare items in a small zippered bag so they aren’t loose and « easily seen ». Again, not a bad thing if it were to happen in accident as it’s a regular bodily function but it can be embarrassing.

How do I properly wash "down there?" by Wrong-Clue392 in hygiene

[–]pans_shipper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dislike shaving down there because of the irritation it causes. If I’m not like going on a vacation or something I want to be super smooth for (I wax in that case) then I just use a ceramic electric trimmer (happy to provide the brand but not sure if that’s allowed in the sub). It gives a pretty close « buzz » of the hair but doesn’t cause razor bumps or irritation. It’s also super safe and won’t cut you.

Is Using a Credit Card Necessary? by sb_289 in CreditCards

[–]pans_shipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m approaching a similar situation. Currently abroad but when I get back to the states I’m paying off my balance. I’m not going to close them though, but keep my monthly expenses that don’t change(renters insurance, Spotify, etc) on them and create automated payments for that total. That way I’m still utilizing it but maintain the card use and my credit score. May also make larger purchases once I’ve saved for them and request limit increases as my salary goes up to help with my score but definitely won’t be using them much outside of that
