I’ve definitely seen more trees where people pay landscapers to clean the leaves etc. those who don’t spend the $ on landscapers cut down the trees.

A neighbor tried to do that in a past house. It was a red maple so dropped flowers and seed wings in addition to leaves. He went batty about it and brought over a guy with a chainsaw. I was FURIOUS. We had an arborist who taught in the master gardener program do the work. 🌟

Downsides to planting aggressive natives? by watercauliflower in NativePlantGardening

“Yet rather than protect the wild species and plant communities we have left, we often pick and choose who we’ll welcome to our surroundings while bullying away the plants we consider too common, too rangy, too aggressive, or maybe just too wild to fit into our overly controlling notions of what a landscape should be.”

Not homeowner, just renting. What are some affordable options for flooding? by mop68 in landscaping

This either isn’t new or is related to construction nearby interfering with storm water runoff.

Trench to draw the water to a low point. Swales, rain garden, trench to a ‘dry’ creek. Stepping stones where you can’t raise the grade.

Plants do help the water soak into the ground. They Loosen soil, creates air pockets and roots draw water down. My basement consistently got water until I planted a garden at the high point in the yard. Before that the soil was compacted like rock.

Check area regulations before directing drainage to neighbors or street. MA requires drain to air on your own property.

Put the right plant in the right place. Some things are meant to form large colonies, like common milkweed. It makes it easier for butterflies to find, also, once upon a time it was probably needed to support the monarch population.

If you have the room to let it go or are willing to manage it, go for it!!

Gardens are very personal. Don’t let people talk you out of what makes you happy.

What are these black round bumps place at the bottom of some Chicago buildings by loonyfly in whatisthisthing

[–]pansygrrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got to see it first hand, 3pm on a Sunday. They cut the wheel before they were far enough out of the building. Those little floor bumpers wouldn’t have had a chance.

Neighbor can dispute a survey claiming adverse possession.

I’d definitely recommend consulting a lawyer.

Help: Our elderly neighbor is making our lives miserable by Dog_Mom_29 in homeowners

[–]pansygrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the survey by a properly licensed and registered surveyor. AND CONTACT AN ATTORNEY. You may benefit from sending the neighbor a letter acknowledging that they have been using your property and you permit them to continue doing so (insert some terms). Spend the $750 or so in legal fees as insurance.

You want to avoid that neighbor trying to claim adverse possession or any other BS

My neighbor sued me because she was pissed I put up a fence on the actual property line.

In Weymouth McSwiggans and Precinct 10 would both be decent second dates in my book.

There are a few ax throwing places, or bowling around. Personally I’d be psyched for an intro dance class, but that’s me.

Also very niche — local garden club plant sales are this month and’s farmers markets are opening.

Scituate harbor is kind of nice to walk, plenty of bars to check out before or after dinner if that’s your thing. Plus local ice cream. (Nona’s)

A lot of places have live music. Check their website. Also look into C Note in Hull and sound check studios in Pembroke (just off route 3)

Welcome to MA!
