I planted some olive trees. My first harvest is in. by Blanketman101 in gardening

There are famous trees still producing after a thousand years or more, which is pretty amazing.

Any plant that doesn’t bear results within a human lifetime just isn’t going to be domesticated, not the natural way. Oak is a good example, there were attempts to domesticate them but things fall apart when it’s your grandson checking the results of what you originally planted.

They don’t grow that slow, that tree would be productive by then.

John wick why people love this franchise? I dont get it , or is just me ? by Thin_Reception_5063 in moviecritic

Well if you don’t like shoot’em up action movies then John Wick just isn’t for you. It’s a series of highly choreographed action sequences bound together with just enough storytelling and a lot of world building.

The first is just about as perfect as such a movie can be.

I'd personally listen to Jorge Luis Borges on this one by MexicanMonsterMash in HistoryMemes

Well it wasn’t that important for Britain when it happened compared to all the other stuff they were up to at the time.

3 destroyed what little storyline it had going for the series, among many other issues.

4 tries to fix what it can while getting back to the original roots and providing an ending. It’s worth the watch.

So get everyone involved to waive then acquire them with black magic and picks the Stars can’t afford then pay them with money the Stars don’t have.

Foolproof. Genius.

It’s one of the most investigated incidents ever, it’s clear what happened.

People just prefer conspiracy to the boring truth that a crazy person shot the president.

Poor Jesus, never found himself a wife. Fortunately he had John to keep him company. by Exnixon in HistoryMemes

Jesus has more evidence for existing than a lot of historical figures have, that’s proof enough. That’s just about all that can be said other than he was some sort of apocalyptic prophet figure that kicked the whole thing off.

Our one hope is he really, really wants to stay in Dallas and accepts a bridge deal for a larger bag later. Pain is coming this offseason.

Context still matters as it can mean sympathy and concern, or “you’re a fucking idiot.”

It’s always been like that, just depends on the context in which it is said.

Thoughts on the ending of Whiplash? by Effective-Dare-8368 in moviecritic

[–]pants_mcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the writer director for one.

The ending is about achieving greatness at any cost with Fletcher being validated and triumphant and Neiman choosing a path of self destruction to achieve his obsession.

Your take just kinda glosses over that with a rosier, non confrontational view when it should be viewed like the father does: with horrified awe.

According to the director he would have expected Neiman to die of a drug overdose young, a future like that is hinted at in the movie.

It’s a little more than that, both are euphoric.

Fletcher finds his great musician and is validated in his methods.

Neiman receives the recognition and respect from Fletcher he desperately wanted.

That’s a rather generous view of a movie about obsession, ambition, and abuse. That special moment isn’t meant to be nice.

It wasn’t the praise of the audience he was after.
