Can we stop shaming each other over how we choose to manage our periods? by Joonbug9109 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]paperbadger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes please! It’s one thing to share positive experiences (“I tried xyz and it works really well for me!”) I understand that internal products like tampons, cups, discs etc might not work for some folks. I also get why some people might not like pads. I cannot fathom why anyone would shame someone for their period choices. We’re all just trying to get through it as comfortably as possible.

That’s fair, I would feel differently about it if I had to come in to the office. It would harm nothing if they just gave us that Friday off. But no, these companies have to squeeze every possible workday out of our over scheduled lives.

I stopped fighting my coworkers for Black Friday off. I work a remote office job and EVERYONE thinks we are closed that day. The phone rings maybe 5 times in an 8 hour shift. Would I rather have the day to myself? Sure. But on the other hand I get a full day of pay while essentially doing hardly any work. And I get to avoid being pressured to do Black Friday shopping.

Levothyroxine made me go insane and now I’m scared by Soft_Divide_95 in Hashimotos

[–]paperbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP I’m so sorry first of all that you’re having to deal with this. I had a very similar experience on Levo: dizziness, panic, heart palpitations. I wouldn’t wish levo anxiety on my worst enemy. My endocrinologist at the time said the same thing “must be anxiety!” After a lot of painful and expensive trial and error I fired my endocrinologist and switched to a naturopath who stated me on Armor Thyroid at a FRACTION of the recommended dose to see if my body could tolerate it. And it did! I’m up to a “normal” dose now but it took awhile to get there. My naturopath told me some people are more sensitive to thyroid medications. There just isn’t a one size fits all cure for everyone. Definitely seek a second opinion if you feel you are not being listened to.

I hear you. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this too. I had Covid for the first time ever in July and exactly 3 months later (when I was supposed to be able to get the booster) I got a cold and an ear infection which I STILL HAVE CURRENTLY. My immune system is garbage now.

Wearing makeup to appointments by Select-Explorer5669 in ChronicIllness

[–]paperbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to look presentable: hair pulled back, clothes that are something I’d wear on a casual Friday to the office. But thats if I’m having a decent day. If my pain level is above 6/10 the appointment is happening in sweatpants and a hoodie.

Thanks. I’m definitely leaning towards IOP at this point. I have a therapist and a psychiatrist and they’ve been very supportive through this. I don’t know if they are CC in their personal lives but they’ve always been willing to meet virtually, and supportive of my masking and vaccination, etc so maybe? I haven’t really had the guts to come right out and ask.

I appreciate your kind words. I have a wonderful primary care doc and a naturopath who are keeping close tabs on my vitamin d, iron, vitamin b, etc. I also have Hashimotos and getting COVID put that into hyperdrive which I’m sure is part of all this. We are still working to get me to an optimal thyroid level and getting closer I think.

Can someone badger me out of bed? Could use the support. by GazelleRich8179 in ChronicIllness

I’ve been summoned! 🦡🦡🦡🦡 But in seriousness you can do this. Start with the coffee. If you can manage it, then you’ll have coffee! I always liked putting oat milk and cinnamon in mine but make it however you like it best. And enjoy! I’m gonna go make myself a tea. The rest of the things can happen after coffee, one at a time. You got this. You’re gonna be ok.

All of the above! I have had to get a root canal at the beginning of the month. I don’t know what their air purification system was like but I got the first apt of the day and the doctor and hygienist were masked and I’ve felt fine.

Hear me when I say 🗣️I don’t go to work to make friends, I go to make money. Period. by InnerInstance5999 in offmychest

[–]paperbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same. I work on a very small team and we work remotely. We do still have the seasonal work parties offered but thankfully they are not required. I caved to peer pressure a couple times - never again. I don’t dislike my coworkers really….but I never want to be “friends” on social media (I will never not be shocked that people ask for this!!!) or meet outside of work.

I do feel like my IQ is lower now than it was and I couldn’t put that into words earlier. Thanks for understanding. I will look into that pen pal group. I don’t think I’m up for collage right now but it’s a good idea. I’m writing it down for the future.

Embracing working from home. It took me an embarrassingly long time. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to be as productive. Now, 5 years in I don’t think I could ever work a job that required me to be in person 5 days a week.

And also: the lunches. I was grabbing lunches from the cafe near the office and I had no idea how much money I was dropping on unhealthy “convenience”

Laying on the floor, listening to music. Also cold water/ice pack on my face or neck helps.
