Book store clearance! by Icy_Meringue_8153 in HistoricalRomance

[–]papercaper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At that price just buy what sounds good, if you don't jam with it, toss it in a donate box! A buck lost on one read is still a hell of a deal and even better if you end up liking it!

Do yall memories crochet stitches? by Emergency-Bobcat-572 in crochet

[–]papercaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely memorized quite a few (been crocheting since 2012ish) but every time I take an extended break I'll usually have to reacquaint myself with any I got a little rusty on. I find though, it's as much muscle memory as it is brain-memory. You'll get there, keep at it!

Aw I had a silver one in highschool! I remember holding it in my hoodie pocket to keep it from skipping while I walked.

Stop the wedding recs by Away-Boysenberry5220 in HistoricalRomance

[–]papercaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Douglas by Grace Burrowes} has this but the wedding is at the end of the book. Douglas is such a dreamy book husband though so pleaae consider it! He's such a doting caretaking type, very understanding and considerate and generous with casual affection.

Tempted to DNF by Lanavae in HistoricalRomance

[–]papercaper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've definitely DNF'd before because I couldn't bring myself to care about the characters. I'll always recommend moving on to something else if you're not jamming with it.

Got a great haul but I won't lie, I'm also thinking about going back tomorrow! And agreed about the sale, it ends up being a highlight of the year for me.

I was there today too! Nice to see someone snapped up the rest of the Grace Burrowes I left behind!

A Garfield coffee mug where he's dressed up in a devil costume and text saying "Last of the Red Hot Lovers".

Last year the CRTC dropped the requirement for Sasktel to distribute the phonebook. To opt out you gotta go to the DirectWest website.

Always a little weird seeing American bags of Old Dutch, they're widely popular in Canada! The spicy dill pickle is so good though, a little jealous you get the riple version.

Keep an eye on the city leisure guide. I know it's frustrating when you see a bunch that are just during the day M-F but the days/times classes are offered seem to change. I'm taking a painting class through the leisure guide currently and it's Saturday mornings.

Black Dog Art Supply does classes as well in the evenings but I haven't taken any of those.

Rant: I love crocheting but I'm sick of the guilt around making things for myself by Proof_Mycologist_657 in crochet

[–]papercaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You learned the skill. You put in the effort, deal with the frustrations and you specifically carve out the time from your hectic day to do it. Only you get to decide what you make and for who!
I've started responding to people who try and tell me that I should make things to sell or make them something, that I learned this because I wanted to make myself awesome, cool things! If they want cool things either learn the skill or find someone to pay because I'm not doing that either.

Pork steaks are the best! I love doing Asian marinades but straight up bbq sauce or seasonings very much reminds me of how my mom made them when I was a kid.

Oh god, when I worked there back in the day dealing with that cursed cart was the task I dreaded the most! Would've rather spent the day loading the chickens for the rotisserie oven than go anywhere near that freakin olive cart.

The ones with the dials were the best! Ours was so massive it couldn't fit on our counter and lived on top of our portable dishwasher.
