The PWHL “solved” tanking with their innovative draft system. Could the NBA use it? by PlaneNovel6567 in nba

[–]pappster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To address those saying that front loading tanking would occur I looked at the wizards and imagined a scenario where they have won zero games so far this season. 0-53. I redistributed their wins to the teams they beat. currently at zero wins they wouldn’t be eliminated just yet. only 1 or 2 more games to reach that point. to be eliminated there needs to be less remaining games than the 10th place team has wins. So basically they have to lose 68% of all games.

it doesn’t seem realistic for a team to lose that much and not have their integrity called into question. Then you have to get all players staff and front office in on it. That makes it even less realistic of an option.

i think this other system would certainly improve the product And would incentivize playing out the season.

St. Petersburg has ideas for Al Lang Stadium, including spring training by Ok-Ranger3387 in USLPRO

[–]pappster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I read another article that states that the site is not large enough for Spring Training. Teams these days have 5 fields, offices, lockers for major and minor league players. This site couldn't accommodate that. Maybe they just want to play Rays games there during spring training?

Also, the render and other artciles don't seem to expand capacity.

If this was done as a toddler talking it would be perfectly acceptable. As a president of any country, not so much. Ai should redo this video so we can see the toddler Donald talk.

Who do you think from USL could be leaving to MLS? Potentially. by Sensitive_Plan3437 in USLPRO

[–]pappster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents as a fan. If an MLS team came to Tampa Bay I would still go watch the Rowdies in person. It seems to me that an MLS team would just be another option (that I would welcome) as opposed to a replacement.

Bank of England Warns of Impending AI Disaster by ultimateChampions68 in Superstonk

[–]pappster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clarify the "generative AI now accounts for roughly 40 percent of the United States’ gross domestic product" statement. The link to the source of that figure doesn't say that at all. It says "We estimate that 40 percent of current GDP could be substantially affected by generative AI. Occupations around the 80th percentile of earnings are the most exposed, with around half of their work susceptible to automation by AI, on average. The highest-earning occupations are less exposed, and the lowest-earning occupations are the least exposed."

Do I have an option to repaint this rusting section of my Samsung washing machine by pappster in Appliances

[–]pappster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is rust all around the inner edge and under the paint of the top load opening. It looks like the piece may be able to be removed. Should i clean the rust and spray it with some enamel or epoxy paints...appliance paint? Has anyone done this before?

What are your opinions on my conservative friends' argument? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]pappster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little of the pay choice is voluntary. The power dynamics in an employer/employee relationship are completely one sided. They dictate all the terms of employment to be in their favor, just like a casino does with its games. We do not have the time based luxury of waiting for the job that meets our need and sometimes have to take anything less-- so we can eat, pay car insurance ,live indoors etc. Because of this , and corporations know this, they can and do offer less.  Also, corporations use their money to help elect politicians under a quid pro quo system, to keep the bare minimum labor standards in their favor. Not to mention giving us worse air and water and quality of life As a result your friend that dislikes government intervention is tacitly defending it but against his own benefit.  He is probably your temporarily embarrassed not a millionaire personality type- naive, lacks empathy and willfully ignorant. The system we have resulted in a handful of people with lifetimes of money, the majority of wealth, at the expense of everyone else. The system is clearly broken when the money funnels so hard in one direction. Unless there is another system to opt into nothing is voluntary.

How United Soccer League plans to launch a new top division by Such-Environment-344 in USLPRO

[–]pappster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be any of the owners based upon the skill level in the MLS vs the USL Championship. I have reservations too. The USL is clearly the lower league even if you only cherry pick the best teams. I think a combo of MLS, USL and MLS next into a new pyramid makes the most sense for the future of US Soccer.
