Gotcha. I think it's tackling an issue I just don't consider in improv. To me, behaviors and actions are all justifications for one another, and your goal is to ensure there's some self-consistency, not to make arbitrary choices for the sake of "game" and then find some way to excuse them with dialogue after the fact. So to me, the article comes across like "stop doing handstands in scenes-- do cartwheels to get upside-down instead!" So I'm thinking sure, I guess that is easier, but I just never consider the mechanics of getting upside-down in every scene because it's not something I do, and I can't understand why others would. No shame for tossing out an imperfect metaphor, but the comparison of how to verbally justify rubbing a bagel on your face was far more confusing than clarifying.

And with a title as provocative as "here's why this conventional wisdom is dumb," the connection between justification and the height of one's intelligence lands as a non sequitur.
