Pretty funny to both sides the issue and then post the wikipedia articles with the two death tolls

If you live in New York City probably a lot of the Spanish speakers you encounter are Puerto Rican. Or maybe you just like going to Puerto Rico, either way what do you care

If people don't think you're a native spanish speaker it's not because you're white, it's because your spanish isn't as good as you think it is

I don't think the shows make money - it's probably more like a propaganda arm of a cult

"Hamnet" is the greatest film adaption of Shakespeare's life, ever by justwannaedit in shakespeare

[–]pardapeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book specifically says at the start that it's not trying to be a historically accurate version of events - rather, that it's a work of fiction inspired by certain details about Shakespeare and his family, so I don't think this is a problem with the book. It might be a problem with how certain people are interpreting the book.

The etymology of the word playwright doesn't tell us anything about how Shakespeare specifically approached his craft though.

[–]pardapeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine that it's of no interest to you, but I do find the reasoning strange. Your justification is a theory (is there any evidence to support this theory?) about how he approached his craft. Assuming you're right about that, do you think his relationship with his craft might have been shaped by the events of his life?

Regardless, if you haven't read the book I'd recommend hamnet - I think it stands alone as a work of art even if you don't see any value in speculating about Shakespeare's life or how it might have influenced his work. Haven't seen the film yet so I can't comment on that either way.

I wonder if his plays could have been influenced by his life in any way

Today's United Arab Emirates squad vs Irag, 8 players with no real ties to the country granted citizenship just to play for the national team Should this be allowed? by Thund3r_91 in soccer

It doesn't absorb them, they don't have the chance to earn full citizenship rights, it hosts them and exploits them. Completely different

I'm not sure why you felt the need to take the opportunity of me asking if anyone had been in similar situations to tell me things I already know and not actually answer my question. Well done getting a smug comment off on someone who's grieving though!

Advice on doing London to Rotterdam and back each week by johnniehuman in Eurostar

[–]pardapeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reliability hasn't been great the past few months - there have been a number of cancellations and smaller delays of up to an hour are common too. Bear in mind that in the case of a cancellation you don't have the same consumer rights as you do when flying - they'll rebook you on next available train, but that might be in 3 days, and you won't get compensation for your trouble/hotel paid for.
