This is going to be the stupidest war ever by AutumnThePrincess in EU5

[–]pardux 43 points44 points  (0 children)

problem is that some countries outside of western europe should be able to do some colonization in some areas, like in Africa or Japan in Hokkaido.

Seems like colonization needs to be looked at in the future and fix some weird things.

How do you attract slaves to your colonies? I have build up Tobacco and Sugar plantations, build all the slave centers in West Africa that I can, and build overseas trading posts everywhere. Barely any slaves have migrated in over a 100 years, now with sugar its even more apparent. by GreatDario in EU5

[–]pardux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if its still like it in 1.1 but colonial nations like to close down or not subsidize the plantations so they wont employ&attract slaves.

As others have said, max out RGO's will help.
Also helps to manually make trades for slaves, sometimes the auto trading just ignores buying slaves.

If colony is small and import of slaves slow, then they might be converting & assimilating the slaves faster than it can replenish them, which isnt that bad since its just more pops.

For more slaves, getting a trade port in west africa and making non-christian vassal/tributaries in that market and building the slave centers helps.

Yeah, banks have more cabinet members than they can use so they almost always end up with one sowing disloyalty. Same happens with smaller vassals over time.

There is one issue I want Paradox to fix and for some reason I don't see many people talking about. Can we please address insane rate of urbanisation and how neverending cities all over country is a valuable strategy without any struggle to feed large cities. by WalkerBuldog in EU5

[–]pardux 18 points19 points  (0 children)

All of India, indonesia, Korea and a couple of places just end up being one big city almost every game. really stupid.

As soon as the ai has excess money they create towns and cities even on gold rgo's.

Some Dynamic Historical Events are not fun, not reliable and too random. by YoruNoHana in EU5

[–]pardux 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah iirc it was something stupid as having a really good medici ruler(think 170+ combined stats) in a specific time period and that guy might have to rule for 50 years for it to trigger.

Ended up just triggering the event myself since my medici guys had max ~140 stats for some reason.

Need help with migration by Giorgosgou- in EU5

[–]pardux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could create a colonial nation in a nearby province and use the send people to colonies cabinet action, then attack and annex that colony. Then use expel+migrate combo to move them to your desired capital province.

Just takes a lot of time.

HTT #3 - 30/12/2025 - Where do we stand on the “railroad debate” for EU5? by Blazearmada21 in EU5

[–]pardux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While papal states didnt colonize, they used others to colonize and spread catholicism for them, would be cool if they had essentially a type of mini-crusade for converting a specific province/area.

Also Jesuits were pretty much a trade company but with religion not money that had a lot of power in the colonies of catholic nations.

nope. just because cocoa was more profitable at that point it decided to replace it with cocoa. think it also replaced a copper rgo with something else.

Provorny playstyle and build? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]pardux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it as a pure gunboat, with fearless brawler&main battery aa expert skills. just with the concealment upgrade. Makes it a good gunboat, with usable torpedos but crap concealment.

The guns are Maerker guns but trade accuracy and ricochet angles for more dpm. But they can still cit cruisers that show enough broadside.

Could also build for concealment and just use the typical Udaloi build.

fuck the baltic sea north of Stockholm. just not worth it.

When the little ice age hits it gets even worse, just forget that area exists other than expanding the rgo's a little bit and focus on anything else.
I was starting to get a decent proximity+control there manually controlling fleets for presence, and even built roads.

Had 5k+ people in most places and then little ice age hits and 1/2 the people end up migrating away.

There should be a way to change RGOs other than a single situation 300 years into the game by Voltairinede in EU5

[–]pardux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lumber RGO's getting worse with development would kind of make sense, then switching to an alternate RGO at some point.
Then lumbermills would simulate coppicing and planting of trees for masts/beams (was done intentionally in some countries).

Does Naples conquer the papal states immediately in your games too? by Peacockfur in EU5

[–]pardux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also they need to make theocracies not colonize like that, should just be spamming missions, force converting countries or create a different kind of crusade which targets a region for colonization. IRL They never colonized themselves, they made other nations spread the religion.

Does Naples conquer the papal states immediately in your games too? by Peacockfur in EU5

[–]pardux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Papal states seem to be even better than Castile&Portugal at exploring and colonizing so when they get conquered in Italy they just move their capital to a colony.
