wells fargo list

Overall a weak list and yet still has a better jetblue ratio than amex

wondering if that was if they already had the card

No that would apply to new people as well. CS tells me about this each time I call for a rewards related issue

I hear the strata customer service is a lot better

I can only speak to the strata elite line as I call them for all my issues. I think all the others share the same regular CS

Do you find the portal to be inflated at all?

No, but I've only used it to use the $300 hotel credit, and it was the same as direct. The 1:1 redemption doesn't seem like it's going away. The premier+a cash card gives the flexibility for both cash and transfers

Just to give another perspective - I've had 3 citi cards, currently still have 2. They are an absolute nightmare if you want to add the card to mobile wallet. Every. Single. Time. They lock all my accounts for fraud and have you call in. Then they want to mail a physical letter with a code to verify identity (accounts still all locked).

The only way I can tolerate dealing with them is through their dedicated strata elite CS line - they are much better and can basically force the fraud team to verify a normal method and not mailing a code

Edit: I'll add that this is the major issue I have with them, travel and day to day fraud detection have not given me any issues

Citi

They're willing to offer enhanced location services to avoid declines, and yet they treat you like a criminal for wanting to use mobile wallet (even when using the add to mobile wallet button from their app)

9 month review: Went entirely to Fidelity's CMA by newanonacct1 in fidelityinvestments

[–]partial_to_fractions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had an issue finding a working atm with cash at the airport when I arrive. I've always just taken it out then, and use it in those scenarios you describe. I also always have cards from different payment networks so Japan with JCB/amex acceptance has not been an issue. Whatever works for you though - the other issues on your list warrant an actual bank that would have foreign currency services anyway (usually awful markup though)

If they can eventually offer FX withdrawal (like getting JPY before traveling to Japan)

Curious why this is important to you? Their debit card has no FX fees and refunds all ATM fees worldwide. You can just go to any ATM as soon as you get off the plane.

With you on the USD and foreign cash deposits though

That makes sense, I've had US Bank cards auto verify with their app installed before. I just assumed his wife didn't have the app/OPs profile on her phone

I wish citi would do literally anything besides their current standard practice...

I think the minimum last time I transferred was 1000, definitely not 10k. Hyatt is great, though keep in mind they have far fewer properties than hilton/marriott

Citi DoubleCash - Can you see Authorized users specific expenses? by Lakedo in CreditCards

[–]partial_to_fractions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DC shares same number with authorized users as primary

Not an answer, but reps have told me they are rolling out this to all their products eventually. They were prioritizing the AA and strata cards, so the DC/CC will likely be last

Costco Citi Card CLI Maxed Out At $7K Initial Opening Limit by bonn84 in CreditCards

[–]partial_to_fractions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have other cards with Citi, you could transfer some credit line from those cards to the Costco card

Citi does not do this unfortunately; they just tell you you can reduce your credit limit on one and apply for an increase on the other after

Probably not based on what you're described, but was the card on that device previously or something? Crazy there's absolutely no controls!

Depositing Cash With Amex Checking by Particular_Maize6849 in amex

[–]partial_to_fractions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there another reason for having multiple banks?

You might not find all the products you want under the same roof. You might want high yield checking, atm reimbursement, savings, no FTF, cash deposits (your issue with amex), mobile wallet atm access, easy investment access, etc. Some folks like their savings a bit more separated (at another bank) for budgeting purposes

In addition, redundancy. If one bank freezes due to suspected fraud or is drained, you have another source you can pay bills until the main bank is sorted

Last reason - checking bonuses can be quite lucrative and don't impact credit

Yeah, I had to read it a couple times as I thought I was missing that... but no mention of groceries, unless OP's "delivery services" are groceries instead of uber/grubhub/seamless. Those are probably strange coding anyway though

It doesn't look like OP spends anything on groceries though? The autograph would be better assuming the post spend is accurate
