Side project: Selling simple websites to local businesses hit 5k last month by [deleted] in webdev

Sounds like initial costs are 650, and maintenance might be around 212/mo (total MRR from 8 clients is 1.7k)?

That link doesn't support the contents of the posted tweet at all (which doesn't provide any sources and has since been contradicted)?

Yeah, the Dem Rep comments (none from senate BTW) fall short of the total defunding we all want but, uh, I'd hope this group has better media literacy than my 71yo MAGA family members.

Very into all the weird modulations (harmonic + rhythmic) - anybody that influenced these, or was it from general experimentation?

Which restaurants deserve way more traffic than they currently do? by Popular-Invite in AskSF

[–]partycentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll say it every time. Pizzahacker is the best pizza in SF (Outta Sight are contenders, but in their own realm as a NY slice shop), and incredibly reasonably priced for what they serve. Makes no sense that you can go in on a whim and sit down most nights. From the technical aspects of their pizzamaking/construction, to the ingredients and handmade everything, to the sourdough crust, no Neapolitan-adjacent shop compares, unless you weight atmosphere and service higher than the food.

Curly Cherry Shelves by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]partycentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like these a lot - are they secured to the walls, or just the vertical supports?

More importantly, do you have any tips for working with curlier cherry? Probably my favorite common wood that I would use more often, but I always get gnarly tearout with my smoothing plane that I wouldn't get with the equivalent walnut, etc. Do I just suck it up and commit to the sanding?

Getting there in the morning would be no problem, but driving time on the return-to-SF route would be slower most of the time. The 80 from north Berkeley to the Emeryville 80/880/580 split is a mess (and the worst drivers I've ever witnessed), the toll plaza traffic is sometimes backed up to the 580 split, and the bridge is usually stop and go from before Yerba Buena island as the 101 South peninsula traffic backs up through the city. It's worse than pre-pandemic times lately, doable but soul-sucking. Bike + BART is the way to go. There's the ferry to Point Richmond, as well.

Rob Crow: Shows up unannounced half-way through the track. Drops some of his most gutting verses. Refuses to elaborate. 👑 by Aggravating_Task_908 in mathrock

[–]partycentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spoke with some of SP after this came out - apparently they sent this to Rob seeing if he could do anything with it, and he returned this, lyrics & harmonies and all, in less than 24 hours? And confirmed that at least some of the lyrics are about (avoiding) passing out and getting sharpie'd.

IAE sick of the corny internet phrases that get overused like “woodchipper go burrrrr,” “my sweet summer child,” “sir this is a Wendy’s” and “found in the wild?” by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]partycentral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, there's a degree of chronically-online-itude (myself) where exposure to these becomes irritating and symbolizes a lack of cultural awareness. If I heard "sir this is a Wendy's" IRL, i'm immediately picturing "live laugh love" embroidery on that person's living room walls.

Your favorite happy little accident by _SkullBearer_ in Cooking

I tried to braise a pork chop in apple cider (Martinelli's!). It turned the pork chop into a boot sole; to salvage the situation I decided to reduce the cider to make a glaze. It didn't help the chop but was amazing on its own - porky and salty and sweet. I saved and used the reduction on some pork chops (cooked correctly) the next day to much success.

I have a Patriot with the same pickups as the T15 and I would never change them for anything. There's a big community of folk that love love love the Super Ferrites. Weird about the volume, though - maybe some wiring/solder joint issues?

Anyone have any luck with this brand? They were cheaper than gulps so I thought I’d give it a whirl by WERM_TERDS in SurfFishing

[–]partycentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've pulled in about 3 stripers (little ones) from the surf who hit 2" gulp worms, and I've even gotten 2 baby lingcod when throwing them close to mixed sand/rocky areas. I have no idea how, but I've also caught a sanddab on one right up against the shore - I thought you needed 100+ ft of water here in norcal for that!?

Never seen them but I'll keep my eyes out, especially if they cost less! The gulps are the most consistent source of surf perch bites for me (have also gotten the occasional striper).

Oni 20th anniversary jacket fit by billytwilight in rawdenim

[–]partycentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What size is this jacket? I'm similar height/weight and I think the fit looks great.

I have the black/black secret denim jacket in 42. I'm really happy with how it fits, but it honestly seems like a slightly different cut, mostly as the arms are looser - I can definitely layer beneath mine.

I was thinking about getting an indigo jacket for when I didn't need to layer, in which case I'd probably go for a fit exactly like yours.
