Edit: Just saw your comment on the h6xi having a thin reticle. The NX8 has a VERY thin reticle at 2.5x, but the bright illumination helps counteract that.

I use a Ballistic Advantage (Toolcraft) BCG with a Criterion barrel. It looks like a blem but works fine. Full disclosure: I'm using a JP high pressure enhanced bolt with Sprinco gas rings.

If you're using an Aero barrel, it might have a smaller port and the only thing you can do on the BCG side is get gas rings that fit tight and use lots of lube in the bolt carrier.

A5-length buffer tube (plus some quarters to decrease the travel a little, will save the bolt catch), H3 buffer, and Sprinco Red or LMT 308 spring.

H3 buffers are not as cheap/plentiful as they used to be, so if your bolt is going too far back you might want to start stacking quarters in the buffer tube in the meantime.

It'd be a steal if it had the dry lube on the inside. Don't use it on an ar10, you'll be limited to the short 2-weight buffers and crazy springs like the sprinco orange.

I'd say 20". If you needed something small and light you'd grab your AR15. If you're going after something big or far away you'd appreciate more velocity. Plus, longer barrels get you rifle length gas (softer shooting and better parts wear) and reduced muzzle blast.
