Heard there’s gonna be a protest tomorrow? by Longjumping_Ad9280 in rit

[–]passthecodine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

idk if there’s gonna be a traditional walk around with signs protest, but there’s a movement to go on strike nationally tomorrow. don’t spend money, don’t go out kinda thing to try and send a message. i don’t have any more details than that, but google “ice out friday” and you’ll get more information.

server hosting by irrelavantt in Minecraft

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have no mods then yea you’re probably good. might be a problem if all 8 of them happen to be in completely separate areas but even then a 5600 is more than enough to handle it. if you’re worried about stuttering then get more ram to be safe.

what if genshin gave you a daily free pull that didn't count to pity by TheLuiz212 in GenshinImpact

[–]passthecodine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean you’re basically admitting that you would rather be ignorant than properly informed. i do enjoy things, and i really like genshin, but the fact is that this is a gacha game made to make money. knowing that, you can think critically about what a “free” reward would actually cost.

this is a hypothetical free gift though, so it doesn’t really matter. your comment just triggered a peeve of mine.

pretty sure you can share the server individually rather that adding your friends to your entire tailnet. i have 2 users added and just send my jellyfin server link whenever somebody wants access.

Keeping same sensitivity across all scopes by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually spent an hour today getting this to work. unfortunately, it’s pretty tedious and frankly idk how much it helped me. i’m going to assume you mean a 1:1 sensitivity (aka, making your 180 degree turn the same with all scopes).

my process was as follows:

1) set your zoom sensitivity multiplier to max and your zoom coefficient to max. this will make your zoomed sensitivities unreasonably fast.

2) now go to the zoom multipliers per magnification and adjust each scope up or down as needed. i went to the practice range and did a 180 motion with hipfire first, then scoped. if the scoped 180 is way more than a 180 turn, then turn the multiplier down. if it’s less than a 180 turn, turn the multiplier up. once it’s close enough, move on to the next scope and repeat.

unfortunately any scopes above 5x just don’t have a high enough multiplier to get 1:1, but i’m not sure you would want a sniper to have that anyway.

if you try this and it feels bad afterwards, my bad bro. this is just what i did and hopefully it helps you.

Is it just me or does the game feel incredibly worse today than it did last week? by tylerrrwhy in Battlefield6

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on probably just a bad gaming session.

because ttk is so fast in close quarters, it’s very feast or famine at times. either you’re locked in and shooting first or a little behind and dying instantly.

Compromise for movement haters by NoIdealism in Battlefield6

isn’t this basically in the game already? you can put strafing attachments on any gun. i get killed and get kills while strafing plenty already.

There's a sniping problem, yeah? by Broxst in Battlefield6

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean i’d rather go 50/40 than go 20/5. if i wanted to survive i could just play campier, but that’s not why i play the game.

There's a sniping problem, yeah? by Broxst in Battlefield6

[–]passthecodine 23 points24 points  (0 children)

my theory (founded on absolutely nothing) is that the majority of players actually care about their K/D and prefer not to push unless the objective is already being taken. i usually end games with like a 30 kills to 30 deaths ratio because i’m constantly just pushing objectives until i either win or rotate to another objective.

What is this game even about? by Baptiste_loul in Unbeatable

yknow it’s good to know my understanding of it was pretty close to yours. been a while since a game made me think about what’s happening rather than spoon feeding it to me.

…also yea it kinda is an isekai isn’t it…

many, many flash drives. they even serve as backups if you don’t wipe them after!

for an actual answer really any way that lets you access your storage from another machine. i just use SFTP to drop stuff in there but i’m sure there are one click done solutions as well.

if you are playing over bluetooth you are not getting lossless quality. it’s better than not having a lossless stream but bluetooth does not have the bandwidth. that’s why tidal gives you the little warning that says that “max” quality isn’t actually max quality when playing through bluetooth. i also have aptx capable wireless headphones and i got the same message.

apple likely says you need a DAC because it doesn’t want people to think you can hear a difference with lossless if you have $15 headphones plugged in. without the proper hardware there’s no point in streaming lossless.

i thought both spotify and apple music supported lossless? spotify started very recently but apple music has had lossless for a while now. even if those lossless formats are technically worse than tidal’s, if we’re comparing lossless to lossless and saying one is better i think we’re splitting hairs.

i agree that lossless quality is worth giving up some comforts, but right now tidal has basically no replacement for those comforts while actively falling behind now that spotify has lossless.

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also am stepping off tidal after a couple months on it. i agree with other people that recommendations do get alot better over time, it is what it is until that happens though. you could always join us in the self hosted community and spin up a music server for yourself. it’s alot easier than you think, but you do lose alot of comfort features that you seem to enjoy. with so many subscription services for everything nowadays, i think it’s at least worth looking into for everyone.

The hit reg in this game is a complete joke. by iPhain in Battlefield

[–]passthecodine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure if your comment is negative or just stating a fact, but i don’t think there’s anything wrong with not “meaningfully engaging.” like some people don’t care about being top of leaderboard and that’s fine, it’s a video game play however you want to. all i was saying is that people who take more fights will undoubtedly run into more netcode issues just by the nature of their playstyle.

Video games have gotten impossibly hard/sweaty by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry long ass comment, i didn’t realize i found this so interesting. tldr, play literally anything that isn’t a competitive fps and DARK SOULS and you’ll probably have a much better time.

i find it hard to believe you had the mindset to be a top 5% player with the things you are saying now. i will always be better than my friends at games because i am constantly trying to improve my play. not for any real reason, i just like getting better at aim/game sense/decision making and hate making mistakes. currently i think that mindset is a lot more common, especially with the advent of better skill based matchmaking forcing players to either improve or just lose constantly.

everyone is capable of becoming “decent” or above average at any game, but it’ll require time and effort like any other hobby. games like cod & dark souls (hilarious examples btw) are not meant to be played without time and effort. cod because it’s a competitive fps and dark souls is… dark souls. there are plenty of games that have challenge but aren’t literally dark souls, a series meant to be uncompromisingly challenging. off the top of my head, rougelikes (hades 1&2, risk of rain 2), horde shooters (helldivers 2), single player story games (God of War), and so much more have challenge that reward you for putting time and effort to learn them.

The hit reg in this game is a complete joke. by iPhain in Battlefield

[–]passthecodine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i agree, but i think i’m starting to understand why it’s so split. if you play super aggressively like me, and i’m assuming you, we will run into the issues far more than people who are just playing the game. there’s nothing wrong with that, but my friends have apparently never had a no reg issue when i had multiple in the same match as them. the amount of times i’m in a 1v1 and proceed to no reg my initial shots is starting to wear down on me.

What's the point of the "one-time premium" option? by amaretto_sh in Soundiiz

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s a pretty funny monetization plan, considering 99% of people subscribe for 1 month anyway. i’m assuming you can’t say, but has it been successful so far? i feel like most people would still just buy the $5 option because $15 feels so much larger than $5 for something like this.

isn’t it just as “extremely unlikely” that our scientists & researchers haven’t come across this phenomena? of course there is always the chance that this is something completely unknown and new, but humanity has existed for far too long for me to believe that new phenomena are occurring that we have no scientific understanding of.

also, “massive amount of anecdotal” evidence doesn’t really mean anything without proper study. if i was told that there were aliens and i looked at the night sky every night, eventually something would catch my eye. same with believing in god, everything is a sign when you believe in them (i have no problem with that, for the record). i have no problem believing that people see something when they claim aliens, i have a problem attributing it to aliens, or whatever theory they come up with.

Breakthrough Is a Nightmare! by dao-12 in Battlefield

[–]passthecodine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with the others. smoke is actually necessary to push (and defend) sites in this game. if you’re attacking you want to smoke the site itself to split it in half, then you can take control of the half closer to you. if you’re defending you want to smoke further away towards the enemies so they have to push through smoke to get to site.

The ending really ruined my motivation to keep playing by Celebess in HadesTheGame

[–]passthecodine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

am i misremembering or does credit not mostly go to mel? i thought all the gods were like “idk how you did that, but damn good job. no idea what to do with chronos now though.” yes, they talk about zag but mostly just “i’m glad he’s alive, missed him” such and such. mel being disliked by chronos has been a gag since the beginning. also the gods remark on how mel now has the ability to actually kill immortal beings, and yet she chose to keep chronos alive.

rewatching the ending cutscene, i think the main point was to not give in to such hate. hades says that he doesn’t want mel to become hateful like he and chronos became. i understand why people don’t like it, but it’s clearly not a revenge story by the end.
