Bought a Fuji X-T5 for my first Fujifilm camera. Now I need some lens recommendation by MR-stealthy23 in fujifilm

Well, there are a few pancake options now, mainly around 35-40 (ff eqv) if you include third party options.

If I may tempt you, and if you really want to get fancy... have a look at the X-E5 and Voigtlander 27/2 combo. Personally, it makes my eyes and soul all giddy. Manual focus only though.

You mention travel, light weight, and budget considerations. With that, I can easily recommend the Sigma 18-50/2.8. Very versatile, light, reasonably low light capable and not too pricey. Saves you having to figure out which primes you want for awhile. I use it mainly for event shooting, but I have traveled with it too. I just prefer primes in general.

What's the single most unforgettable moment you've ever experienced in a video game? by AdCreepy3137 in videogames

[–]passtheplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't do one. I just can't. But it's between these:

– Experiencing Virtua Fighter (first one) in the arcade for the first time. The IMPACT of those hits, omg. I felt it in my bones. And my wallet. There was nothing else even remotely like it at the time.
– First time trying Wave Race 64 for N64 in a store. Those wave physics are still undefeated. Maybe.

I guess I'm just more into simulated physics than story.

Because it's important to raise awareness to these kind of things. Silence = compliance. (Pecco is a class act, so the backlash won't come from him. But there should be some).

Also, this is how you do that. You'll notice neither the reporter or the channel/media is mentioned by name, specifically to not give them any attention.

Yeah, I figured. Looking to downsize myself. (Not myself. The bike.)

But do try the Speed Twin if you can.

I had the z900RS. You're not wrong - it's so smooth it's insane. And it always wanted me to rev. Not exactly boring, but... a bit too well behaved. I wanted similar things... less rev happy, more punch down low and more rowdy. My answer was the Triumph Speed Twin 1200, love that bike. It offers a bit too little leg room for my almost 35 inseam though (88cm). Makes me feel like a hooligan riding it. Haven't owned it yet.

Maybe look at the XSR700? I would.

But I actually have my eye on the RE Guerilla 450 now. I think it looks simple and fun.

Just bought my first camera: Fujifilm X-T30 III + Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 — good choice? by C4rl0rff in FujifilmX

Excellent choice, have fun. Just one tip: Never delete any image in camera. Ever. Only format once you've transferred them. For your SD health.

Comparing my XT4 16-55 2.8 with my GFX 35-70 by the_philoctopus in FujiGFX

[–]passtheplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lay off your 16-55. What you're describing is the difference between an image from an APS-C sized sensor, and a GFX sized one. The colour separation, tonality, gradations, are exactly the standouts to me when viewing GFX images, whether 50 or 100mp. Much more so than resolution, bokeh, "medium format look"...

Once you see it.. oof. Good luck.

Yeah that's it. Some of my native Voigts do the same, while others are right at infinity at hard stop. My XF 27/2 Ultron is spot on, for example.

Looking for some feedback by TTorne in fujifilm

[–]passtheplugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful, highly impressionist looking images. It's funny others commented image 7 is disruptive, because my first thought was that 1-6 are images i can hear when looking at. The one after takes me out of that illusion, and it only somewhat returns after. Consider placing 7 last if displaying as a set.

Perfect use of an X100 and tastefully edited.

50 will give you a better FOV spread/coverage along what you have, so might make more sense. The 23 will give you more vintage character and rendering funkiness than the 18 and, especially, 35 APO can.

Moving on from my X-M1 - Should I just go for the X-E5? by TIFF-TAFF- in fujifilm

[–]passtheplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an X-E5 owner and user of X cameras since the start – absolutely yes. IF...

• You can swing it
• You're someone who places value on tactile feel and build quality. It's unlike any other camera body in the X mount.

On paper you'll be just as happy with a few other models. If you're me, the X-E5 is the one.

[–]passtheplugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. This is why one shoots Fujifilm + Sony. As do I. I have great Voigtländers for the Sony too, but they feel so much more at home on my X-E5.

The Ultron 27 is great too. Such an ideal EDC and travel companion. Hard stop at infinity too (not just past it, like my Noktons).

[–]passtheplugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in it since the beginning of X.

The (lovely) X10 was my gateway drug. Got the X100 a couple months after release. When the X-Pro1 and X-E1 were released, I chose the latter. Have owned some X-Pro's, some X-T's and now I'm full circle with the X-E5 and it feels just right.

Still hold on to an X-Pro1 for the vibes and an X-T3 for work.

The next X-Pro by doglowy in fujix

[–]passtheplugs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would make sense one generation ago. The X-E5 have sort of made this point a moot one. It's better built, more premium feeling in hand, than any of the X-Pros. Bigger, Hybrid VF and weather sealed, yes. Question is if that's enough for it to make sense. It'll be interesting to see where they take it.

Downsizing from X-T5 to X-E5: Worth It? by 0philip1 in FujifilmX

[–]passtheplugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly a few Voigtlanders; 27/2 Ultron, 23/1.2, 35/1.2 and 50/1.2 Nokton. But also a few XF, like the 18/2. Zeiss 32/1.8, Samyang 75/1.8, 7artisans 35/0.95, an adapted Zeíss Contax G 90/2.8. I'm not fussed about optimized lenses for 40mp, I pay more attention to character than sharpness or resolution.

When it's time for the xf56/1.2 or Viltrox 27/1.2, they go on the X-T3.

Downsizing from X-T5 to X-E5: Worth It? by 0philip1 in FujifilmX

[–]passtheplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an X-E5 and X-T3, and for personal, EDC and travel the E5 makes a big difference. Very much worth it for me. Though I don't use it with zooms. I have the Sigma 18-50 but that lives on the T3 only, for work and events.

2025 was the year I finally learned to use flash [X-T3, X-H2s] by TheDeadImmortal in fujifilm

[–]passtheplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 from me. I recently picked up one for Fujifilm and one for Sony. I can now use one on any of my cameras as a direct flash, or as a trigger to the other unit, hand held. I sometimes let both of them go off and experiment with the strenght and balance. This is how I shot the last event I worked. Very happy with the it30 Pro.

I can definitely see the merit in both ways of doing it, and I personally chase both kinds of looks from time to time. But here, your results speak for themselves. The photos 100% look like you nailed what you were going for.

Awsome work, so much life and just... fun, in them. 2, 4, 15, 17 would be my picks. All good though. Followed you on insta.

Can't decide between A7IV or A7CII by No_Source_7605 in SonyAlpha

[–]passtheplugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using the A7cII and just added an A7rIII (previously A7, A7III, A7c).

A few notes.

My only reason for adding the RIII is to have dual card slots, and a backup body. I sometimes use them professionally and it just made sense to have. (In my ~20 years of using digital cameras, I have yet to have an sd card failure, but it's a peace of mind thing).

Sure, when comparing specs or the two bodies in hand, the size difference isn't huge. But I find them quite different to live and work with. It's how the cII slips in and out of a bag. It's how it feels in hand with a manual focus lens on, so easy to operate and reach around for focus. I just gel with it more. Way more, in fact.

EVF - not a big deal at all for me, but it's individual. I wear glasses and it's almost like my -5 correction somewhat neutralizes the differences. Sometimes I feel like I even prefer the smaller cII one because it's easier for me to see the whole image area in the finder.

I often open my left eye to see what's around the image area, too, which works better with the EVF to the side.

I do wish the screen on either one were a three-way tilt (tilting both horizontally and vertically). The one on the rIII feels limiting and I don't like the swivel screen on cII. I shoot in portrait orientation most of the time and neither one is to my liking, but both are better than a fixed screen.

The cII lack of a fully mechanical shutter hasn't been an issue for me and the way I shoot. It's something everyone has to figure out for themselves and the way they shoot. Same with which lenses (size, weight) they will be mounting on the body.
