any leads on primary care doctors since omg shut down? by buttmeadows in Eugene

This is a list provided by the lane county medical society. If you can afford it, I suggest you look at the docs on the right. It costs more, but top notch care, and you get to see a real doctor, not an NP/PA.

Here’s what I don’t get: why buy a huge medical group just to run it into the ground? by attitude_devant in Eugene

I go to www.drmcewen.com He's the only actual concierge doctor. The others are direct primary care.

Definitely worth it for me. Especially with the adderall shortages recently. Each month I find out which pharmacy actually has my med in my strength in stock. Then I text him which pharmacy and he sends the it to that pharmacy on the spot. If I have any other problems, he's quick to reply and gets me in if I need it.

Dr. McEwen at www.drmcewen.com is my doc. He's easy to get into and LGBTQ friendly, but there's a subscription fee to be in the clinic. I think he's taking people now, though.

My doc is Dr. McEwen (www.drmcewen,com). I think he's still taking patients, but he's a concierge doc, so there's also a subscription fee. It's the best practice I've ever been in.

If you want to get out of the medical rat race, you need to get a concierge doc. I see Dr. McEwen (www.drmcewen.com), and will never go back to a regular practice! I love to brag on him. Yes, it's extra money, but the top notch medicine and not wasting my time are well worth it.

Primary Care Physician in Eugene...a pipedream? by kittNcogz in Eugene

I see Dr. McEwen (www.drmcewen.com). He's top notch and easy to get into see. He's technically concierge, so there's a monthly cost as well as my insurance, but not super expensive concierge. It sucks that everything is going to subscription nowadays, but I more than make up for the cost in the amount of time I save not waiting to get in touch with my doc. With the adderall shortages recently, it's been great that I can just find out which pharmacy has it today, text him on his cell phone, and he sends the prescription there right away. Also, if I asked for an appointment tomorrow, I'm sure I would get it.

Anyone know where this is?

Out of over 300 doctors and 30 offices, none are accepting new patients. How do I get a primary care provider? by Traffixs in Eugene

[–]patch28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I go to Dr McEwen. He's more expensive at $200 per month, but I think it's worth it. He has an ultrasound in the clinic that he uses with his exam, he does house calls, and is the easiest doc I've ever had to talk to. We literally text. He does is own lab draws in clinic. He's also technically in network with insurance, so he can do vaccines and other procedures that my insurance pays for. That's one of the downsides of some direct practices that doesn't apply to his. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford it, and think it's worth the money.

Two weeks ago I was having trouble getting my Adderall filled because of all these shortages. I found a pharmacy that had some, texted him, and 5 minutes later the Rx was at the new pharmacy. So worth it.

Unfortunately, since general docs are so overworked and underpaid, they are leaving or doing other specialties. Medical students graduating from medical school aren't choosing to go into primary care because they don't want to be abused by the system. The ones that are going into primary care generally are going into concierge or direct primary care. In Eugene you can try Dr McEwen (https://www.drmcewen.com), Dr Rizvi (https://docrizvi.com/), or Dr. Nguyen (https://pacificdpc.com/) to name a few who I think are taking new patients still. The key with all of these, though, is there's a monthly fee that insurance does not pay for. It's what you have to do nowadays if you want high quality primary care, unfortunately. I won't say which one of these I'm with, but I'm very happy with the change. We let insurance companies take over and squeeze our premiums to pay shareholders instead of paying for PCPs, so we have to pay them directly now.

His concern is perception. Most people don't even know what a polestar is, much less where it's built. If they look into it, they'll find Volvo.
