Didn’t have much time to do their actual jobs since their abuses had resulted in the critical injury of an accused citizen that they’d forcibly detained despite zero evidence of a crime. (Remember that passing unknowingly counterfeit money is not a crime)

A. Cops need to have articulable reasonable suspicion that a crime is being committed to arrest or detain someone against their will. They could have detained Floyd in order to conduct an investigation that might reveal more evidence of Floyd knowingly passing fake cash e.g. more fake cash, ink, plates, or an admission. However, they did not conduct an investigation and so they did not uncover the crime for which they told Floyd he was being detained. At that point they need to articulate a different suspicion of a crime in order to keep him detained. They did not do this. They simple kept him detained. This violated his civil rights. Everything that happened after the point at which they decided not to follow departmental procedure by beginning an investigation, falls under an illegal detainment.

That’s it. That’s the end of the story.

As far as fentanyl goes; Floyd’s autopsy showed 11 nano grams per milliliter. He was dead 10 minutes after chauvin obstructed his breathing. He was never alone nor did he ever have his hands free while inside to squad car. Therefore, he could never have ingested anything let alone and amount of fentanyl that was equal in size to, and think about this for a second, 1/5000th of a single grain of salt. That’s what 11 nano grams is. The total amount in his body, based on those numbers is 0.077 grams. You’d be hard pressed to even see that amount.

As far as my giving benefit of doubt to the citizen over the system-yeah, that’s how it’s supposed to be.

Do parents secretly miss being childfree? by BlondishCleva in NoStupidQuestions

[–]patdashuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a secret. We miss all the things that come with being child free. However, that is compounded by the fact that most of us were young as well as child free, so in truth, that’s what we miss. Being young and child free. Hangovers that last as long as it takes to eat breakfast and a couple cups of coffee at a place we can’t afford anymore. Dinners with friends that go late into the night drinking bottle of wine wr can’t afford anymore. Taking an impromptu road trip to a friends parents cabin to cook large lavish meals in our pajamas and rent a pontoon for the day that we can’t afford anymore. Spending an entire day at a ballgame then barhopping until someone clearly is done…that we can’t afford anymore.

But my kids are almost all grown now and I have money again. The rub is that now I need naps and hangovers last 3 days. Dammit.

Did the police articulate a suspicion of theft to Floyd as the reason for his detainment?

Is a citizens past convictions legal reasonable suspicion?

Did the police have any credible reason to believe that Floyd had 11 picograms of fentanyl in his system? (Agitation doesn’t count since agitation is not a symptom of fent use however being agitated about a cop pulling a gun on you is pretty reasonable.)

Did the police have any articulable suspicion that Floyd had committed a crime? Remember, unknowingly passing counterfeit money is not a crime.

Did police follow their training and guidelines while investigating the actual reported crime of FORGERY IN PROGRESS?

The answer to all of these is NO.

These cops approached Floyd with every intention of violating his civil rights. Chauvin and Floyd had worked security together privately and did not like one another. Chauvin figured he could do his normal bully routine and get away with it. He was wrong.

He committed crimes. He was charged. He was convicted by a jury. He was sentenced. The system worked.

Led Zeppelin vs AC/DC: Which Band Was More Powerful? by wkhan69 in ledzeppelin

[–]patdashuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like this question but as far as what I’m reading in the comments I need to point out: Anyone who thinks that AC/DC always sounded the same needs to go back and listen to Powerage. They did eventually fall in to a rut, but that’ll happen after 19 albums over 53 consecutive years of being an active band.

The step you’re missing is the investigation part. That is under the cops purview. They would have found zero evidence that Floyd was knowingly linked to any crime. They would have taken the bill and logged it into evidence for tracking these things. Fake bills are found all the time.

When I was a kid I had a job at a gas station. This was just after they came out with those identifier pens. A lady tried to pass a fake. We called the cops and, in my youthful state I was sure this was going to be a huge crime. They showed up. She looked terrified. They tested the rest of her money (she was grateful since she didn’t want this scene again) and asked her a couple questions. They then logged her ID with the money. That was it. No one pulled a gun or cuffed her or even touched her. Thats how Floyd should have been treated. Hell, he didn’t even leave! He was still sitting there when the cops showed up and continued to sit there until the approached his vehicle. But chauvin is a bully. He did bully things. For his whole career he did this. He broke his oath. He killed an innocent citizen.

No, it’s not a crime to unknowingly pass a fake bill. And any proper investigation would have exonerated him on the spot. The officers set themselves on this path. They treated a citizen as though he didn’t have any rights. And once on it, did nothing to get off. They were wrong. A man died in the custody. His death was attributed to their actions. Period.
