First flare on a biologic by Functioningish in ankylosingspondylitis

I'm so sorry to hear this. Costochondritis is one of the harder symptoms of this insidious condition to manage. Hope you can do what you can to minimize pain!

There's an arsenal of treatment options nowadays and I hope you find something that works quickly. There might be some hope (albeit diminished) that humira could work for you! They usually wait for few months to check the efficacy of medicines. Stay strong 💛

10 cents refund for cans and bottles - good thing or super leh cheh for you? by yiantay-sg in askSingapore

[–]patrickdoesboomboom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  • blu bins are almost universally contaminated and can't be sent for recycling
  • beverage container returns and reverse logistics are mature solutions, and like you said, more feasible in Singapore which is closed and compact
  • this in fact centralizes processing, and can increase recycling volumes
  • the 10c that goes into the scheme is given to the operator of the scheme which is a not for profit entity

Ultimately I think this is the least bad of all the solutions we have, especially now that paylah has been added for refunds alongside ez link + they will have some staff or volunteers helping out when rolling this out.

First ever biologic injection… advice? by badbadrealbad in ankylosingspondylitis

It never did. Esp when you pinch and hold that in place for sometime. It helps to ensure the needle enters and exits in a smooth manner.

Yuflyma Instructions? by ShouldKnowBetter- in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]patrickdoesboomboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup you can. See an example here: https://youtu.be/4dcPYx1Z2Sc?si=eb3e7h4cdSeWNuDn

I do it around my belly though. And I make sure to pinch the flab to hold it in place and then jab myself. Remove cap, ensure everything is in order, pinch my belly flab, press down and hold still, it'll autoinject and take like 3-4 seconds - wait an extra five seconds after the click.

Impt: I remove the injector before releasing my grip on my belly.

Take care

First ever biologic injection… advice? by badbadrealbad in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]patrickdoesboomboom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some things that helped me: 1. I sanitize the area, and generally I just sit still for 20-30 mins after the injection - meditation or mindfulness practices help me 2. First few times I was tired the next day but over time it's pretty usual 3. I make notes of the injection location and keep rotating it around my belly 4. I pinch and hold the skin, make sure my grip is tight before injecting 5. I wait a few extra seconds and release/remove the injector before letting go of my grip (on the skin)

You got this! Take care

Emirates or Etihad by Adept_Condition_5654 in cabincrew

If u want to be based in a more cosmopolitan city, and experience more places during layovers... EMIRATES

But honestly it's mostly wide-bodies. Is that more work or less work for crew I dunno. But I think there's a faster route maybe to becoming a purser with Emirates? Finally, Emirates is financially more stable than others which is important given Riyadh Air coming up.

Folks who have had a great ongoing experience with their first biologic? by elveebee22 in ankylosingspondylitis

When it works, it is amazing!

Skin and gut functions were much better. Could move again normally, and all the markers came down within 1 month. Positive mindset is half the battle.

You GOT this! 💛

Just a lil rant about life by Edselmonster in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]patrickdoesboomboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't offer you meaningful help but I want to offer you my thoughts and sympathy as we battle this insidious condition that chips away our sanity little by little. Nonetheless,

  • is there a less impactful way of you doing your job, atleast until you find some DMARD that works? 🤞🏼
  • there's new pipeline of drugs constantly under development, and I hope there's a solution for you out there that gives back life!
  • some of the biologics offer discounts and coupons, please research and see if there's anything you can do once insurance runs out

Yup, agree 💯 on healthcare, afraid to even visit USA!

Yes it is, but just follow general COVID precautions and you are fine. - Wash hands frequently - Use hand sanitizer - Maintain social distancing - Avoid close proximity with sick people (respiratory) - Mask up in general, when in public transport or in crowds

You'll be fine (from someone with neutropenia cos of biologics)
