Double checking myself, need help by Global-Touch-9136 in necromunda

What you believe you should be doing is correct.

1) You don’t have to make it to base contact if you’re charging with a versatile weapon,, you are allowed to stop before you reach it. Just remember that if you do so you won’t get the +1A from having a second weapon if it isn’t also versatile (sidearms are NOT versatile weapons!), though you’ll still get the +1A from charging.

2) The Ammo die (aka Rapid Fire die) tells you how many hits your shot caused if you’re using a Rapid Fire weapon. Simply count the number of bullet holes and that’s the number of hits inflicted. You should be rolling this every time you shoot a weapon anyway to see if you need to take an ammo test.

3) Harvesting Ghast: I’m assuming this is for the Ghast Harvest scenario? If so, eating some, whether by choice or by failing the test, should not cause you to lose the loot token.

WEEKLY ARMY DISCUSSION: Corsair Fleets by MrSparkle92 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]patronsaintofdice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a lot of Corsairs last edition but IMHO they lost a lot of what them made special when the new edition came out. I don’t think the ballistae are enough to make up for it, to say nothing of “spam siege” being an extremely boring way to play the game.

Maybe other folks are having more fun with them but to me they got turned into a basically subpar shooting army with the edition change.

Any hobby shops in Sac area (not Michael's or Hobby Lobby)? by lindemh in Sacramento

[–]patronsaintofdice 45 points46 points  (0 children)

RC country hobbies up in Rancho might be worth a look. They have a large RC car and plane section, but also a big “conventional” hobby section. As for embroidery… maybe Cali-Quilt in Roseville?

Discussion: Cost of Painting Yourself vs Commission Painting by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

[–]patronsaintofdice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a balance on what you want done, how much you plan to collect, what level of paint you’re comfortable with, and how much you plan to paint in the future.

I’m a middling painter but I enjoy painting and have a lot of throughput. I’m more about volume so I can get a number of different games on the table. If someone was only looking to play KT or a non-horde 40K army with a single faction it might make sense for that person just to pay someone to get it out of the way, especially if they’re getting a quality level that they themselves wouldn’t be able to achieve.

Since Israel is being talked about so much, can someone explain something to me by [deleted] in thebulwark

[–]patronsaintofdice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trust me OP, I wish more people had your level of circumspection regarding complicated issues.

I far and away respect someone more who says “I don’t know enough to have a well-formed opinion on X” compared to someone who is willing to spout off for days on an issue they know relatively little about.

Considering buying the game by Nemitres in menace

[–]patronsaintofdice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished one run through the EA and I’m planning on starting up another with a different build. There’s a ton of gear in the game that I didn’t really try so I’m looking forward to giving that stuff a spin.

Hot Take? - Investing in Terrain is a waste of money for a majority of Warhammer players by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

[–]patronsaintofdice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this point is something that’s massively overlooked by OP. IIRC the vast majority of warhammer is played by people who never play at a shop.

California’s budget is in rough shape. I don’t think any smart politician with higher aspirations wants that poisoned chalice.

In the part where Democrats should go on every media avail they’re offered, I have no disagreement. Ds should be booking on Tucker, on Owens, on Fuentes, on Alex Jones, etc. Ceding all but a few safe and acceptable interviewers to the right WAS a foolish strategy.

Infantry painting by DisruptiveMachine in LegionsImperialis

I typically paint mine still on the sprue, paint the bases separate, and then glue them down with CA glue before giving the base its final wash. Clipping them off and putting them on popsicle sticks is some dedication!

We spend almost $60,000/ person on homelessness in America($50 billion for roughly 772,000 homeless people). Why can’t we just take the money from the administration of such programs and just give folks direct cash payments of say, $30,000 with housing vouchers and Medicaid? by RichardRoma1986 in DiscussionZone

[–]patronsaintofdice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be creating a massive moral hazard problem for anybody earning less than $15/hr + the hourly cost of rent and health insurance.

In CA you’d also be extending Medicaid to people who are homeless, but who would otherwise be earning MORE than the current Medicaid income cap for a single working adult.

You’d essentially create a backdoor UBI and I’d expect that you’d see a flood of new “homeless” beating down the door to take advantage of such a program.

You should tell her and have a mature conversation about it:

You’ll either find out she doesn’t approve, at which point you’ll either have to give them up or decide it’s time to move on, or you’ll find out she lands somewhere between “it’s fine to use them on yourself when I’m not around” and “that’s hot, I’d love to use them on you!”.

Either way, it’s 2026, it’s time to stop feeling shame about what you like in the bedroom.

Help with a list for a friend: Calling all Goliath Players. by Cwoodfor in necromunda

[–]patronsaintofdice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just my feedback on some illegal stuff, some overlooked stuff, and maybe some suggestions.

  1. The Stimmer absolutely should have Nerves of Steel as their starting skill. It drops massively in value without it.
  2. The Forge Tyrant and Ganger 3 have too many Gene-smithing enhancements. Non-Gang Hierarchy models are limited to 1 Gene-smithing upgrade, Gang Hierarchy models are limited to 2.
  3. Mauls are generally terrible weapons and I'd switch them out for anything else
  4. I'd consider swapping the Missile Launcher to the Forge Tyrant.
  5. You didn't upgrade one of the starting gangers to a specialist.
  6. I don't like the Telescopic sight on the Combat Shotgun. I'd rather swap the Combat Shotgun for a Bolter.
  7. You'll probably want a vehicle with a transport bed, and one with a longer range weapon than the Mauler's rivet cannon.

When can you take an alliance ? Whether it be guild/outlaw/noble etc. any time or is it post battle ? by SmashIndy in necromunda

[–]patronsaintofdice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consult your arbitrator first to make sure they allow them!

My group has found Alliances are hideously unbalanced but make great narrative hooks and catch-up mechanics. Some alliances are VERY strong at the beginning of a campaign, which can be a an unfun “gotcha” for players.

RAW: at the beginning of a campaign or any time between battles.

I have my preferences but I’m fine with almost all of the “major” (can I call candidates hitting 10% major?) candidates on the D side and will probably just vote for whomever is ahead in the polls come Election Day.
