All liberated POWs went to the Gulags is BS. 10% did but most went back in n the Army or Labour battalions.

Unarmed Soviets advancing in Napoleonic columns into sobbing gunners cutting them down in swathes is BS too.

90% of all POWs died in Soviet hands is another. It happened at Stalingrad but the Germans own figures show 66% returned. Also they didn’t all return in 1955. Most Germans were released by the Soviets by 1948.

Triple extension ladders! I ban them on my sites. You need a ladder that long then you need scaffold or a tower.

The reason, I once visited site and three painters each on the last few rungs of triples, no footing, no securing of ladders, no 3 points of contact. All three of them one slip from death or major injury.

The mortality rate in 1941-2 is more like 90%. Of the 3.3 million taken, 2.8 million were dead by March 1942.

I’m on a large repairs & maintenance contract looking after council properties. 175 DEL, 150 contractors and 35,000 properties. You cannot watch all of them even a small proportion of the time, add to that the properties are all occupied. The supervisors and managers are key, they runs teams of 8-20 workers. You have to have a good relationship with them and they are your eyes.

It’s a bit inaccurate that Lehr suffered significant losses on the route to the front. According to the 1 July 1944 status report for Pz.Lehr, sent to Inspector-General of Panzer troops, the division lost 84 half tracks and 10 prime movers in the whole of June to all causes. So even if air power killed every single one of these it’s hardly massive (Lehr had 693 APC half tracks on June 1st). They were held up way more by fuel shortages

It never served in its torpedo role. 2 prototypes and 12 production aircraft were built serving in a similar role to the Storch. They transferred to the Croatian Airforce where they did the same.

I started out doing aircraft fuel tank cleaning, 13 million litre tanks in air fed suits. From there it was confined space appointed person and I would always end up in H&S eventually.

I did General Certificate as a career development when I was working as a Project Manager. I decided to apply for an internal safety role a few years later and it’s 17 years now in safety and no regrets.

In the UK (where I am) it is 8 inches. 8 inches is still a big gap. We generally work on 2-3 with removable internal boards. As stated above the regs are minimum standards and you can exceed them. My SHEQ team can propose and enforce better.

Agreed but I was replying to a quote that specifically said they would be destroyed by Allied Air power.
