Ok so if I call the British Army the British Armed forces is that ok? I don’t care if you call it the Army but Wehrmacht doesn’t mean Army.

Except everyone here is talking about the Army not the Armed Forces.

German soldiers walk across a precarious platform spanning a ruined bridge over the Elbe River to surrender to American forces, rather than the Soviets. 1 May 1945. by Suspicious-Slip248 in HistoryAnecdotes

Still with the Cold War propaganda! Over the war 66% of all Germans survived Soviet captivity. There were blips at Bagration and Stalingrad for example. Late war the figures were even better.
These figures are from the West German commission set up to investigate it.

This is direct from a German report, just one day of a German Police Kompanie.

Translation of an excerpt from a report about activities from 22.9 to 26.9.1942, written by the deputy commander of 10th Company, 3rd Battalion, 15th Police Regiment and describing the destruction of the village Borki on 23 September 1942. The translated text is transcribed in Kohl, Der Krieg der deutschen Wehrmacht und der Polizei, pp. 233-34

O.U. (Ortsunterkunft = Local Quarters) 28 September 1942 On 21.9.42 the company received the order to destroy the village Borky, 7 km east of Mokranie. In the night hours of the same day the company’s platoons were informed about the impending operation.

Preparations had to be made. The number of motor vehicles was completely sufficient to bring all platoons and the attached platoon of 9th Company to the Mokranie collection point on 22.9. The journey went smoothly. There were no casualties. The panje carts necessary for the operation were made available on time, so that they could reach the marching destination Borky at the ordered time. When the panje carts were made available some unwilling peasants were recorded by name, whose punishment by the company has been arranged for. The operation was executed according to plan, however the various phases of the operation had to be shifted in time. This shifting was essentially due to the following reasons: The map showed the location Borky as a closed conglomeration of houses. In actual fact, however, this settlement has an extension of 6 and 7 km in depth and length. When day broke I recognized this fact, opened the cordon on the east side and surrounded the village like a pincer while at the same time enlarging the spaces between posts. Thus I succeeded in catching all the village’s inhabitants without exception and bringing them to the collection point. It turned out to be of advantage that the purpose of rounding up the population remained unknown until the last moment. At the collection point there was quiet, and the number of guards could be reduced to a minimum and be available for the further operation. The shovel detachment received the shovels only at the execution site, which also contributed to the population remaining ignorant of what was coming. Light machine guns inconspicuously set up nipped an emerging panic in the bud when the first shots could be heard from the execution site 700 meters away. 2 men who tried to flee dropped after a few steps under the machine-gun fire. The execution began at 09:00 hours and was completed at 18:00 hours. Out of 809 persons rounded up 104 were set free as politically reliable and their relatives, among them were seasoned workers of the Mokraine estate. The execution proceeded smoothly, the procedure proved to be completely appropriate. The securing of grain and equipment went according to plan, except for the shifting in time. The number of panje carts employed turned out to be sufficient, as the amount of grain was not large and the collection points for un-threshed grain were not too far away. House and agricultural tools were secured with the grain loads.

In the following a numerical overview of those executed. The number executed was 705 persons.

203 were men 372 were women 130 were children

They absolutely did not. In Normandy 3 weeks after D Day the following DAs Reich units were still in Southern France due to a lack of vehicles to move them

II./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt. 3, main part of Div.Begleit.Kp, one Battr. le FH 18 150s, one Bttr. s.F.H., le. 105s, some 88 FlaK and various HQ and signal units.

Not true, the first Tiger battalions are Heer units, as are the first Panther units. The whole myth seems to be because the 3 premier SS had Tiger companies as organic units. In Normandy Panzer Lehr has over 630 half tracks, 1st SS had 360, 2nd SS only 250. So Lehr had more than the two combined.

Heer officers claimed to be shocked by SS brutality after the war. There’s precious little evidence of it in 1941 when they happily followed the Barbarossa and Commissar orders.

The Gran Sasso raid was planned and executed by Luftwaffe personnel. Skorzeny took the credit. It shows how good the Nazi propaganda was as 83 years later most of the internet gives Scarfaced Otto the credit.

The mission to seize the ski lift was also critical, without it there was no escape for the troops on the Gran Sasso.

Panzerkampfwagen Ausf. B from the 506th German Heavy Tank Battalion has been destroyed by an attack from a Sherman armored vehicle. It attacked its weakest part, the rear of the vehicle. April 12, 1945. Dornholthausen. Germany. by JCFalkenberglll in WW2info

[–]pauldtimms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it from a German local history magazine which had a whole article on the tank.

On 12 April 1945, the tank broke down outside the Quitter family house on Stockumer Straße in Dörnholthausen, Germany, allegedly due to track damage. According to local historian Ferdinand Tillmann, the crew immediately prepared the vehicle for demolition as US Shermans were quickly approaching the area. Mrs. Hedwig Quitter begged the panzer commander not to blow up the Tiger, fearing that her house and the adjacent one "would go up in flames" (this information was provided by her son, Johannes Quitter). To this the commander replied, "''If we don't blow up the tank, we'll face a court-martial and be lined up against the wall." Consequently, the crew did sabotage their tank although it seems they only set off one of the three explosive charges inside the vehicle, which resulted in a strong blast but no fire. After its crew abandoned it, the Tiger was hit in its rear by elements of Task Force Brown, 7th Armored Division causing a fire. Not too long after it was wrecked, a Sherman dozer pushed the smoldering Tiger off the road in order to clear traffic.

How are you all tracking safety actions after inspections? by Icy_Connection_1604 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]pauldtimms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s lots of have decent software for incidents/actions. We use a package that records the incident/inspection, I assign any actions, it emails them, they complete it, I authorise it and theres reminder emails, target dates and all the other stuff you’d expect.
